I agree with you Norm. It is what is in the heart. I don't celebrate the chocolate egg or the christmas presents. I celebrate what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross and his first coming.
If the dates are wrong, and Christmas surely is, so what! It is the thought that is in the heart.

>I wouldn't say it's so much shrinking as it's only a big deal to the folks that feel the way that others celebrate Christ's resurrection is evil. I believe most Christians feel it's a heartfelt time of worship. If anyone feels that to celebrate Easter is pagan, then they by all means shouldn't.

>The way I see it is that if I celebrate Easter, the way my family has for generations, I'm honoring and giving glory to Jesus Christ. As far as Deuteronomy 12:30-32, neither I nor my family had any foreknowledge of the "pagan" aspects. We never saw the pagan rituals and we didn't adapt them to Christian traditions. The "fact" that they may have originated from pagan rituals was not known to me or anyone in my family until I read about it on this list. I'm not worshipping some pagan deity nor do I have any intention to start. Again, if celebrating Easter is a stumbling block for anyone on this list or the congregations they are members of, then they shouldn't (1 Corinthians 8:9). My family and I see no reason to impose these same restrictions because the intent of our heart is to honor God. This intent is what I feel is the most important in any tradition. The trappings of Easter have no pagan meaning to me at all.
