This is interesting that the native american traditions talk about the
savior.
I didn't know that in any of their beliefs that there was talk of a
savior plunging into the underworld to defeat the forces of death. I
would find it very interesting to find that they did.

Subject: [bprlist] Iron Age burial chariot unearthed

TUESDAY MARCH 13 2001
Iron Age burial chariot unearthed
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/0,,2-98036,00.html
BY GILLIAN HARRIS, SCOTLAND CORRESPONDENT
ARCHAEOLOGISTS have unearthed an Iron Age burial chariot at a building site
near Edinburgh. The chariot, which dates from 250BC, was described yesterday
as unique in Scotland and extremely rare in Britain.
Unlike similar items unearthed in Yorkshire, this one appears to be intact.
Archaeologists who removed the chariot from its shallow grave confirmed that a
fragment of tooth enamel, believed to be human, has also been retrieved from
the site at Newbridge, near Edinburgh.
The burial chariot was first uncovered in January but archaeologists, who
were carrying out an exploratory excavation before work began on a business
park, kept quiet about their find until they could assess its importance.
Stephen Carter, the director of Headland Archaeology, said: "The discovery
of a chariot was a complete surprise. This is the type of find you read
about in books but you don't expect to be faced with the genuine article on
site."
The chariot would have contained a person important enough to merit a formal
burial when it was first placed underground 2,250 years ago. It is believed
that the area where it was found was a religious centre in prehistoric times.
Fraser Hunter, curator of the Iron Age and Roman collections at the National
Museums of Scotland, said: "This is a marvellous discovery - one of those
entirely unexpected finds that changes our views on Scotland's past. A chariot
like this would be the Ferrari of the Iron Age, and suggests someone important
was buried there.
"This chariot is unique in Scotland and extremely rare in Britain. The best
parallels are in France and Belgium, showing the wide-ranging contacts at the
time."
The chariot was 1.5 metres tall and 1.4 metres wide. The wooden body has
disintegrated in the acidic soil but the iron chassis, axle and wheels have
been preserved.
The Iron Age Celts were famous for their tribal battles and settlements
which resembled forts. Evidence of Iron Age settlements have been found in
Central Scotland, Argyll and Galloway. The chariot will now be examined by
conservationists at the NMS laboratory in Edinburgh.

Dear group,
The following link goes to an online book called "Beyond Protestantism", by Tom Lamb, an Australian Christian who runs the Radical Pilgrim website. The chapters are very short, so it won't take long to read. I found it to be a wonderful read. I love his simple approach to the truth. I thought the group might enjoy it, and I would like to hear any comments or thoughts anyone might have on the subject. Thanks.

Sharon,
Thank you for the link to this website. I have made it halfway through this site in reading so far. I have liked what I have read! What has really hit me is the page on Church Denominations. How in scripture, scripture just calls us to be simply Christians, followers of jesus. Not lutherans, baptists, jehovah witness, etc or whatever denomination. Just to gather together simply and humbly and to study the word of God together. That whole page just said alot to me and I don't want to repeat because there is alot there to say.
I know from now on if somebody asks me well what denomination or whatever, I will just say I go to such and such church and I am a Christian, follower of Jesus and the word of God!
I am looking forward to reading the rest of the site!
God Bless,
Michelle
