After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of
the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind
should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any
tree.--Revelation 7:1

Here are a few answers we received to the question of what would
happen if the wind stopped:

1. A layman's conjecture only here:

--much less pollenization.
--much less precipitation.

2. My guess is that the pollution concentration would be deadly
without wind to spread it around, for starters. Fronts - the borders

between areas of differing temperatures - would create isolated
downpours that would flood certain areas while the rest became
parched, although it is difficult to conceive of such conditions
without winds between the areas. The rains would concentrate along
lines where massive erosion would occur, and, if prolonged, would
lead to devastation of the surface along those lines. Seas would
become stale, not having oxygen blown into the water, killing fish,
and possibly leading to temperature changes which would kill other
aquatic life forms, exacerbated by the recent reduction in oxygen
producing life forms dependent upon coral reefs. Plankton would
perish
and the seas would grow foul. Other dependent non-aquatic life forms

would begin to suffer. Altogether, the planet would become an
uncomfortable place for most of the world's creatures and flora.
Quite soon, we would all be dead. That's the way I see it.

3. NO RAIN! DROUGHT! FAMINE! POLLUTION!

4. Dear friend, the stopped wind is the wind that means wars,
rumours, commotions.

5. From Weather & the Bible by Donald DeYoung:

Wind is defined as air in motion. It moves from higher to lower
pressure regions, much like water flowing downhill. During times of
constant air pressure, the wind diminishes. The pressure
differences themselves result from uneven heating of the earth by
the sun. Most solar radiation is absorbed near the earth's
waistline, in the region of the equator. The warmed air then moves
both north and south. Along the way the air is deflected in different
directions and to different altitudes. Wind thus works to even out
differences in temperature and air pressure. The movement of large
masses of air helps to distribute moisture across the face of the
earth. Like a giant spoon, wind constantly stirs the atmosphere.
Without it, severe hot and cold spots would persist at different
locations.

The Greek word for 'wind' in Rev. 7:1 is like the English word 'air'. This
verse may be alluding a concept found in Genesis 1:2, 3. Life on this earth
arosed by the stirring of God's Spirit (Pneuma-like our word pneumatic).
God speaks over the 7 days of creation and there is life. Without God's
Spirit there is no power to the air or no movement. When the earth has air
that is not being moved, then in the natural world we do see death. God's
Spirit is the power or the breath that gives the earth life; that moves air.
Death comes when there is no more breathing or movement of air.

Genesis 1:2
   And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face
of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:3
   And God said....

Without His Word by His Spirit 'blowing' on the earth there is no life. His
Testimony (His Word, His Spirit) is being rejected by those of this earth at
this time mentioned in the book of Revelation. Before the power of God's
Spirit (which moves air) goes out of the earth, He tells the angels to
seal up the 144,000 (12X12) living souls that have His breath or Spirit.
Judgement does not come to those who have received God's Word, they have
life. These are ones that breathe by God's powerful Spirit. Though the
world has no more wind, He enables us to have moving air (breath) and life
by His Spirit.

written, please pray for him. He has God's Spirit and lives, though his
body may stop breathing; we are trusting in God's will.

Syria adds new long-range Scud to arsenal

North Korea has supplied a new, longer-range Scud ballistic missile to Syria
and is in negotiations to sell the weapon to Egypt as well.

The Scud D, whose range is estimated to be 700 kilometers was unknown
until recently. The original missile, which was made by the Soviet Union, is
known as the Scud B, and most Arab countries with Scuds have Scud B
missiles in their arsenals. Its range is approximately 300 kilometers.

North Korea developed a newer version, the Scud C, with a range of 500
kilometers. Syria acquired that version and has begun assembling them in a
local plant set up by the North Koreans. It is also possible that Syria has
begun producing Scud parts. Western sources estimate that Egypt has also
become involved in producing Scud C missiles.

The Scud D is believed to have been sold to Syria and Libya. While its range
is estimated at 700 kilometers, Syria only needs a 500-kilometer range to
cover most of Israel, although it seems that Damascus' intention is to be
able to deploy the new missile deeper in its territory while keeping Israel
within range.

It is not known whether the payload of the new missile is any different from
its predecessors or if its guidance system is any more accurate.

What is certain is that Syria has taken a great leap forward in terms of its
missile arsenal. Before, Damascus assembled missiles from parts
purchased from other countries - none of the missile parts were produced in
Syria. Now Syria has acquired the ability to make some missile parts on its
own, though it still must buy some parts from other countries. In its efforts,
Syria is closely cooperating with Iran, which is providing Damascus with
rocket fuels.

Syria also possesses chemical warheads for its missiles. It is estimated that
Damascus has more than 300 missiles and 26 launchers, in addition to
dummy launchers.

Libya is also showing renewed interest in acquiring and developing missiles.
After sanctions for its role in the downing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie in
1988 were lifted, Tripoli renewed its missile-acquisition efforts. The Libyans
are also showing interest at North Korean missiles with a 1300-kilometer
range, which served as the prototype for the Iranian-made Shehab-3.

Olmert wants fence to split J'lem, Abu Dis

The possibility of erecting a security fence to separate the municipal
boundaries of Jerusalem and the towns of Abu Dis and Azzariye, slated for
transfer to the Palestinian Authority, is being considered as a way to prevent
the violent clashes between Palestinians and Israel Defense Forces soldiers
seen two weeks ago.

The government has delayed handing over the villages until it is certain that
there will be no repetition of the demonstrations organized by the PA.

The Jerusalem Forum, made up of the minister for Jerusalem affairs, the
public security minister, the Jerusalem mayor, and representatives of
security bodies and various government ministries, met yesterday.
Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert raised the idea of putting up a fence between
Jerusalem and Abu Dis and Azzariye, if and when they are handed over to
the PA. Olmert said that in light of the events two weeks ago when PA
officers fired live ammunition on IDF soldiers, a security fence is vital.

Olmert also wants the Ras al Amud crossing to be moved to the Abu Dis
junction, on the city's municipal border, so as to implement Prime Minister
Ehud Barak's much talked about policy of separation.

Jerusalem district police commander Commissioner Yair Yitzhaki asked
whether IDF forces would be deployed along the fence, or police officers. He
also requested that clear instructions be given to police in light of the
possibility that Jerusalem may become the state's border with the PA.

Defense establishment sources have expressed their concern in recent days
that the lack of any tangible division between PA autonomous areas and
Jerusalem will allow PA Chairman Yasser Arafat to realize his goal and
increase his influence over areas in the east of the city.

An IDF spokesman yesterday refused to comment on information obtained
by Ha'aretz which stated that Central Region Commander Moshe Ya'alon
supports the idea of a fence, or an alternative form of partition, between
Jerusalem and the border Palestinian villages, and instead directed Ha'aretz
to the Prime Minister's Office. A spokesman there said that the prime
minister had not yet received information on the matter, thus no decision
could be taken on the matter.
