Rapture Watch
Syria's Axis Denied - 2000 Update
As revealed in Bible prophecy, Syria will one day soon
attack Israel for the last time in these final days.
According to verse 8 of Psalm 83, Syria will at that time
be restored to its ancient form known as Assyria. This
means Syria and Iraq must be confederated. Although bitter
enemies during the Iran and Iraq war, Syria and Iraq are
uniting just as prophesied by God for their final assault
on God's chosen people. For further information regarding
this war described in Psalm 83 see R W. message 'The
Fatalities of Psalm 83' at:

The weekly Global Intelligence Update of February 29, 2000
which was titled "Two Rivals Draw Closer Together",
brought prophetic fulfilment to our modern headlines when
it reported that:
"For the first time in 20 years, Syria and Iraq have
established diplomatic ties...Iraqi press reported Feb. 26
that Iraqi diplomats have opened an interest section in the
Algerian embassy in Syria, and that Damascus will soon send
diplomats to Baghdad to open an interest section in the
Algerian embassy there...Despite a recent history of poor
relations, stronger diplomatic ties between Iraq and Syria
now serve the objectives of both countries..."
With this development portending the soon to transpire war
of Syria against Israel we will review Rapture watch
message 'Syria's Axis Denied'.
The AKHBAR.COM report of July 15, 1999, which headlined,
"Hezbollah Would Never Recognize Israel" reported that "A
leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah said the guerrilla group
would not recognize Israel's right to exist even if all
Arab states signed peace deals with the Jewish state!"
Naeem Qassem, deputy leader of Hezbollah stated that
"...Israel, seeking security guarantees in return for its
withdrawal, had no right to such assurances..."
In like fashion, Syria has given Israel notice that
arrangements for her security is not a primary concern of
theirs. The Israel Wire of July 16, 1999, reported in an
article titled, "Israeli Withdrawal...", that even though
"The Syrians deny that any deal was made to permit the
Israeli early warning station to remain on Mount Hermon as
part of a peace treaty with Israel" still "Ehud Barak was
quoted as indicating his willingness to make painful
concessions to achieve a peace treaty with the government
of Syria."
The manipulations and hypocrisy of Syria and Lebanon are
obvious to astute Middle East observers. Though well in
their power for years to put a stop to Hezbollah's
antagonism and with numerous occasions for a peace
settlement both Syria and Lebanon have repeatedly joined in
efforts to destroy Israel and distort and cover the true
history, which lead up to the present situation.
Since its rebirth in 1948, Israel has only acquired
occupied territories through victories over aggressions
initiated against her, lands that are as a matter of fact
promised to her by God Almighty. The security zone in
Lebanon occupied by Israel, is the same territory the PLO
previously launched rocket attacks from against Israel.
It is the same story for the Golan Heights from which
Syria formerly attacked Israeli citizens. The motive of
pure hatred for Israel remains the constant. The continual
loss of lives in Lebanon has now opened another opportunity
for Syria and Lebanon to attempt to regain their former
advantage points through the application of global pressure.
Whether or not Israel will end up losing these essential
ramparts of land is uncertain at this time, but
prophetically we know by God's Word that any yielding of
ground by Israel will only be temporary. The situation is
ripe for a devastating decision, since the present Israeli
leadership is also desperate for some kind of peace
resolution at almost any cost.
It must be kept in mind that God is not anti-Arab. His
Son's saving grace is available to all who will come to Him
seeking forgiveness for their sins. God's opposition to
any nation arises when they deny His Word and attack His
holy pronouncements. The promised inheritance of Israel is
His decree. To oppose Israel's inheritance is to oppose God.
No matter what course the present situation takes, we know
absolutely by God's Word that in the not to distant future
Syria and Lebanon will be engaged in another major war
against Israel and will barely survive the aftermath. One
revealing passage of Scripture, which foretells the
approaching judgement of these two anti-Jewish countries
along with the newly forming Palestinian State out of Gaza,
can be found in Zechariah 9:1-5. In verses 1 through 4, we
read of Hadrach, Damascus, Hamath, Tyre and Sidon and how
God is against these lands, which comprise modern-day Syria
and Lebanon. Verse 5 continues on speaking of the
Philistines (i.e. Palestinians) who had hoped these
combined nations would have led them to a victory over
Israel but instead experience only defeat and the death of
their king of Gaza. Quoting we read:
"The burden of the word of the Lord Against the land of
Hadrach And Damascus its resting place (For the eyes of
men And all the tribes of Israel Are on the LORD); Also
against Hamath, which borders it, And against Tyre and
Sidon, though they are very wise. For Tyre built herself a
tower, Heaped up silver like the dust, And gold like the
mire of the streets. Behold, the LORD will cast her out;
He will destroy her power in the sea, And she will be
devoured by fire. Ashkelon shall see it and fear; Gaza
also shall be very sorrowful; And Ekron, for He dried up
her expectation. The king shall perish from Gaza, And
Ashkelon shall not be inhabited."
We will refer to this war as the "final Syrian/Israeli
war", since it is Syria that is the main powerbroker in
opposition to Israel in the region and is unquestionably
recognized as the true authority over Lebanon and the
Iranian backed Hezbollah. A more detailed look at Syria's
prophesied defeat can be found in Jeremiah 49:23-27. We
quote: "Against Damascus. Hamath and Arpad are shamed,
For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted;
There is trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet. Damascus
has grown feeble And turns to flee, And fear has seized
her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in
labor. Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of
My joy? Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets,
And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day," says
the LORD of hosts. "I will kindle a fire in the wall of
Damascus, And it shall consume the palaces of Ben-Hadad."
When examining Israel's past military actions against
Hezbollah, it is interesting to note that prophetically
both Lebanon and Syria are to face trouble from the sea.
Part of Israel's strategy has been to utilize its powerful
navy to set up blockades, which prevented crucial shipping
reaching Lebanon's three major ports and to then pound the
Lebanese coast with naval fire.
It is our understanding from Bible prophecy, that Syria,
Saudi Arabia, the Palestinians, Jordan and possibly Egypt
will go to war with Israel before the final prophesied
seven year covenant of Daniel 9:27 is put into place. Iraq
will also most likely launch its prophesied second assault
against Kuwait and Israel, during this time. None of these
nations are listed in Ezekiel Chapters 38 and 39 as being
with Magog (Russia), when it invades the Middle East, but
yet are clearly to be devastated by war with Israel. Since
the Russian invasion is to take place "after" Israel has
attained a visible, tangible peace, while recovering from
war (Ezekiel 38:8), it is our opinion that the final
Syrian/Israeli war will take place prior to the seven year
peace covenant.
A critical point was emphasized in the July 16, 1999,
Israel Wire, report titled "Israeli Withdrawal...", which
in our opinion makes the prospect of war, and not peace,
the next development on the horizon for the Middle East.
The article reported that "The [Israeli] prime minister
did tell...president [Clinton] that the government of
Israel would not return to the pre-June 4, 1967 borders,
namely a total withdrawal from the Golan Heights." This
statement also excludes the crucial issue pursued by the
Moslem world - the return of East Jerusalem to Arab
control, which they lost in the 1967 invasion of Israel.
The world is blinded to the realization as to why global
war is developing over this tiny piece of land in Israel.
The reason is, because God has foreseen and ordained that
it would be so in these final days before the return of His
Son Jesus Christ (Zechariah 12:1-9). Israel has been
restored as written, Jerusalem is in her possession as
written, and all the nations which oppose God on these
divinely fulfilled decrees, even to the close of the
millennial reign of Christ, will perish as brush before a
fire born in heaven as it is written (Revelation. 20:7-9).
No amount of signing of treaties will produce the
recognizable though false peace described for Israel in
Ezekiel 38:14. Only a change in the mindset and weaponry
of those negotiating peace will provide Israel with a true
feeling of peace and security. This peace must be
established prior to the Russian invasion during the first
three-and-one-half years of the final seven years. The
peace must be so substantial that according to Ezekiel
38:11, the Israelis will be content to live in unfortified
cities. The present treaty signings with hostile,
murderous participants has produced the exact opposite
effect and has generated an almost unimaginable state of
turmoil and insecurity. Fortifications in Israel are at
the optimum, the entire Palestinian population has
repeatedly been barred from entering Israel and a fence
enclosing all of Israel has seriously been considered in
the past.
This could be the year that lays the foundational mindset
and disarmament in the region, which will make the Anti-
Christ's seven year covenant confirmation appear
successful. If the war of Syria and Lebanon's reckoning
should take place in 2000, then the Church's departure to
heaven would be imminent by Pre-Tribulation assessment.
These are the last days and the time to put your complete
faith in Jesus Christ the only Saviour is now. It is only
by His shed blood that any of us receives the remission of
our sins and is granted eternal life.
Your Brother and friend in Christ,
Jamma
