Hi All,

I sure hope we do not try to meld with canada and mexico. If we do we can forget free speech. Canada is presently in the processof changing their laws so they can accept this:
http://www.un.org/law/icc/statute/romefra.htm

from the United Nations. Please check section 2 carefully. Especially the part about genocide.

Subject: [BPR] - Jewinsh questions.......Empty seat....red rope......linen garments
From: bpr-list@philologos.org("Demetra")
Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2000 08:50:21 -0500

I have questions that need an answer from a Jewish
viewpoint.

First question: I have heard preached that when Jesus
was in the Temple and read from Isaiah that after He
finished and closed the book, He sat down in an empty chair
that was reserved for Messiah when He comes. Have you
ever read this? If so, please can you give me the
reference book?

Second question: I have also heard that when the High
Priest went into the Holy of Holies once a year he had a
red cord tied about him in case he died in the presence of
the Lord and they had to pull him out. Is this true?
Where can I read it?

Third question: When the High Priest went into the Holy
of Holies, he was wearing white linen, not the other
colorful garments. Am I correct?

I have heard the subjects of the first two questions
preached but no one can give me a reference. I want to
know where they get their information.

Thanks for your help.

Demi

Subject: [BPR] - Clinton 'seeks British home'
From: bpr-list@philologos.org("Moza")
Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2000 08:52:41 -0500

Clinton 'seeks British home'

by Stewart Payne

President Clinton is planning to set up a second home in Britain when
he
leaves the White House, according to security sources.

The Evening Standard has discovered the US leader is looking at houses
in the Oxfordshire countryside and British Special Branch officers are
preparing feasibility reports on a number of properties.

Mr Clinton hopes to become a visiting professor attached to Oxford
University, where he studied as a Rhodes scholar in the Sixties.

This would involve him spending many months of the year in the UK
although he would keep homes in New York and Arkansas. His wife,
Hillary, will not accompany him. Because of the considerable security
implications he has asked the British government for assistance in
assessing the risks. Tony Blair is understood to be supporting the
move.

The Standard has been told that Mr Clinton is house-hunting in the
picturesque village of Glympton, 12 miles north of Oxford. He has been
invited to look in the area by long-serving Saudi Arabian ambassador
to
Washington, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, who in 1992 bought the Glympton
Estate which includes 21 properties.

It is understood one of these would be made available to the President
on a three-year lease. The estate is heavily fortified and Glympton
House, renovated and used by Prince Bandar, has been designed to
withstand bombs, has bullet-proof glass and ramps in the driveway to
frustrate car bombers.

Mr Clinton leaves the White House in seven months and his plans are
said
to include embarking on the lecture circuit, a career successfully
pursued by predecessors Ronald Reagan and George Bush.

The Standard has been told he would like to make Oxford University his
base. He has spoken fondly of his time at Oxford and the countryside
around it and his close friendship with Mr Blair makes the move all
the
more likely.

Well-placed sources have told the Standard that Thames Valley Special
Branch officers have been detailed to examine the security
implications.
The President would bring his own security officers but they would
need
to liaise with local police, MI5 and the British government.

Mrs Clinton will stay in the US to pursue a political career in the
Senate. It is widely believed the couple are virtually estranged
following the scandal of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky and
other
allegations.

The couple are expected to lead separate lives when his presidency
ends
and a move to the UK would mean he would not overshadow his wife's
political ambitions, although they have denied they plan to divorce.

Not unsurprisingly in the circumstances, there was an instant denial
in
Washington last night despite evidence to the contrary.

Deputy White House press secretary Jake Siewert said: "I put this
directly to the President. He said quote: 'It's nonsense - a
fabrication'. There has been no mention of Hillary", the Standard was
told.

Mr Clinton would require a very high level of security and there is an
issue over whether his own bodyguards could be armed.

The feasibility study will examine the suitability of a number of
properties and officers will look at how well they can be protected,
the
proximity of neighbours, whether roads can be sealed off, whether
helicopters can land nearby and the closeness of hospitals. No
decisions
have yet been made".

Glympton is the obvious choice. Situated off the main A44 near
Woodstock, the Glympton Estate is already subjected to intense
security
because the main Glympton Park house is the UK residence of Prince
Bandar, a nephew of King Fahd.

A spokeswoman for Oxford University could not confirm Mr Clinton will
become a visiting professor but said: "It is a logical extension of
his
expressed interest."

the
10 region Us map! I do apologize for any confusion or
inconvenience I
have cause anyone! The first URL listed contains the 10
global regions in list form. In addition to the 4 URL's listed I
   would also recommend:

This site has a lot of good background information on a multitude of
subjects. I am still searching for map! Sincerely, Sharon B.

[Moderator: Oh no need to apologize Sharon. The map and story of the
10-regions the U.S. is (will be?) supposedly divided into was quite
interesting.]

Subject: [BPR] - An Open Letter to Prime Minister Barak
From: bpr-list@philologos.org
Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2000 11:43:53 -0500

A Voice from Hebron
by Gary M. Cooperberg

An Open Letter to Prime Minister Barak
June 21, 2000

To Prime Minister Ehud Barak:

Certainly you are aware of the purposeful desecration of
our holiest site in the world, the Temple Mount. Certainly
you remember the proud cry of Motta Gur, z"l, when our holy
site was redeemed in 1967, "The Temple Mount is in our
hands!". Well, sir, in case you haven't noticed, it no
longer is.

Mr. Barak, I submit that you, our most decorated soldier,
have embarrassed your country. We used to enjoy a
reputation of having the best army in the world. We once
commanded respect from the nations of the world, such as
the time of the Entebbe raid when we went far beyond our
borders to protect our citizens. You, sir, have, single-
handedly, changed this perception and made your country
appear to be the most cowardly nation in world history.

You had the chutzpah to suggest that your dastardly
retreat from Lebanon was a successful military operation,
when, in fact, it was a shameful disaster. What you
accomplished was to make the IDF look as if it was routed
by the Hizbullah, and encouraged our enemies to continue
their efforts to destroy the Jewish State. What is more,
you abandoned our allies and caused them to choose between
exile or persecution.

At the very moment when the PLO, emboldened by your
failure in Lebanon, began to shoot at our soldiers with
weapons you had supplied to them, rather than smack them
down, again you retreated. And, what is worse, you
rewarded this insurrection by giving them, as a prize, Abu
Dis and the promise to help them build yet another Arab
impostor state on Jewish soil, including parts of the holy
city of Jerusalem.

Now that you have succeeded at demoralizing your own army
by needlessly surrendering to our enemies while under fire,
rather than destroying them as most normal countries do,
you have gone yet a step further. Now, under the watchful
eye of your security services, the Moslem Waqf is
meticulously erasing historical evidence at the site of our
holy Temple. This is a site which was supposedly liberated
by the IDF back in 1967. According to Jewish Law, as
published by our former chief Rabbis, it is forbidden for
anyone to go on that site. Yet we have deliberately given
over control of our most sacred site to our enemies. They
have built a Mosque upon our holy mountain and have
successfully established defacto sovereignty over it, with
Israeli government compliance!

To this day, in defiance of Israeli law, Jews are not
permitted to pray on our holy mountain. And Jewish police
assist the Arab guards to physically prevent Jewish prayer
here. Never has such abominable self-hating conduct ever
been undertaken by any people, Jewish or otherwise. Is is
any surprise then to see the obvious result of our failure
to maintain our national dignity in the form of having our
enemies openly destroy our ancient holy site with impunity?!

This has been going on for months with no honest attempt
by our government to stop it. Thus we have encouraged even
bolder efforts to erase historical evidence of our eternal
connection to this holy place. Decent people all over the
world are shocked and appalled at this situation. Letters
of protest are being written to such places as the United
States Congress. Clearly much of the Christian world is
outraged at the desecration as well. But the only address
which can and must put an end to this crime is that of the
Prime Minister of Israel.

There is no place in the world which symbolizes Jewish
identity, pride and sovereignty than this holy mountain.
It is the place to which all Jewish prayer, all over the
world, is addressed. It is physically under Jewish control
today, yet you continue to permit our enemies to restrict
Jewish access to the site, even that of your own ministers.
It is within your power, and clearly an obligation of your
office, to end this national humiliation once and for all.

It was shameful enough for you to have announced in the
Knesset, on behalf of the Jewish People, that we, at the
very threshhold of redemption, must now give up on the
dream of Zion which our fathers so carefully preserved for
us when it was no more than a dream. As you watch it begin
to come true, you dare to suggest that we give up on it
now. But you have compounded your arrogance and further
violated your obligation as a Jewish leader by permitting
our enemies to deliberately destroy our heritage on our
most holy mountain. Should you neglect to personally end
this abomination immediately, you will not only find
yourself out of office, but will stand out in history and
be forever remembered as the only Jewish leader ever who
willingly accepted the renewed destruction of our temple
Mount when you could have stopped it.

With Blessings from Hebron,

Gary M. Cooperberg

Subject: [BPR] - The Barak Plan: A Lethal Danger to the State of Israel
From: bpr-list@philologos.org
Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2000 11:47:57 -0500

------ Forwarded Message --------

The Barak Plan: A Lethal Danger to the State of Israel
By Moshe Hagar

(Ed. note - Moshe Hagar served as a full colonel in the
IDF and is presently in the reserves. He resides in the
Southern Hebron Hills community, Beit Yatir.)

The following article is derived from my military
experience, from information available to me, and from my
national responsibility. Unfortunately the deterioration
is continuing and intensifying. I cannot discern any red
lines defined by the government. Therefore I am filled with
a sense of obligation to warn about the current steps being
taken.

Many of the state's citizens are fooling themselves that
Barak's program only endangers residents living in Yesha
(Judea, Samaria and Gazza). However, as opposed to the
accepted opinion, the program encompasses a real and
serious danger to the existence of the State of Israel.
This article will analyze the dangers and their
significance, with the aim of attempting to prevent them
and save Am Yisrael. This is still possible, with G-d's
help, if we take the proper action.

The proposed withdrawal will include 92% of the land in
Judea and Samaria, and will, for all intensive purposes,
return us to the 1967 borders. The significance of this
withdrawal spells disaster, G-d forbid.

THE DANGER TO THE STATE OF ISRAEL

First and foremost, danger is masked in transferring
territory from the most important area, the Jordan Valley,
which is our defense line against the eastern front during
a general war. Accessibility to the Jordan Valley will be
involve warfare; the Palestinian army will delay or prevent
access to this key territory. During exercises conducted
lately, it took the IDF a full day to reach this key
territory, as a result of Palestinian roadblocks; this is
prior to a full withdrawal. In addition, our emergency
warehouses are located in their areas in Judea and Samaria,
around Jerusalem, in order to protect Jerusalem. The
accessibility to these will be exceedingly difficult. The
Israeli army is based primarily upon reserve soldiers,
making the time schedule extremely significant. Every
minute is liable to be critical. For example, in order to
access emergency war reserve-warehouses between Jericho and
Jerusalem, we must pass through Anatot and Hizma, both in
Palestinian territory. Every person with any intelligence
realizes the significance of such happenings during a state
of emergency.

AS A RESULT, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE FOUNDING OF THE
STATE, THE NEXT ALL-OUT WAR WILL FACE THE ISRAELI ARMY FROM
FRONT AND BACK, with Jordanian and Iraqi forces from the
east and with Palestinian forces from behind.

In addition, within the framework of a withdrawal, the IDF
will be forced to abandon emergency warning stations,
situated high in the mountains, above Hatzur and Mt. Aival.
As opposed to those casting illusions, despite the
technology, topographic height was, and still remains the
most significant factor when war approaches.

These early warning stations are of vital importance,
providing critical data and warning. In place of this data
we are offered data via an American satellite. However,
experience has taught us that the Americans supply us with
minimal data, and at times intentionally block us out, as
happened during the Gulf War.

Terrorists will easily be able to smuggle weapons into
Yesha via Jordan, for the security strip will be 2 - 3
kilometers wide. As a result of the opening of the Gazza
port to Palestinian ships, weapons will flow freely,
including missiles against tanks and missiles against
airplanes, which we will be faced with during the next
armed uprising. Judea and Samaria are liable to become a
second Lebanon, with all that implies.

Concession of the Jordan Valley to the Palestinians has
additional implications: the very real possibility that the
Hashemite Kingdom in Jordan will collapse. The majority of
the Jordanian population is Palestinian. This will create
an eastern front from Teheran and Baghdad, leading to the
outskirts of Kfar Saba and Netanya.

The greatest danger will be to Jerusalem, being adjacent
to an enemy Arab population of 250,000 people. This
population will have access to the center of Jerusalem, and
will derive strength from the Palestinian State in Abu
Dis. Jerusalem will be threatened by the possibility of a
Palestinian take-over: Barak plans on giving the PLO
municipal autonomy within the city, as he has with Abu Dis,
and will make possible transfer, later on, of the area's
security.

An agreement is usually expected to prevent war. However,
unfortunately the opposite is true. These agreements create
a situation whereby it is worthwhile for the enemy to fight
us, because he will have the ablity to easily be
victorious. The Palestinians are today speaking of adopting
the same tactics used by Hizbullah in Lebanon, and they
will be able to reach the fences of our communities. Will
the State of Israel be able to deal with the slaughter of a
community, G-d forbid? The withdrawal from Lebanon was
defined as an Israeli weakness and the collapse our
military capability. This created a stimulus for
declaring war. All additional concessions will create a
situation whereby Israel will be defeated without a battle.
Security regulations prevent me from revealing further
details. But it is clear that Israel will stand before
mortal danger.

THE DANGERS TO RESIDENTS OF YESHA

· Removal of the IDF from military bases and from a
majority of the communities, thereby abandoning 100,000
settlers.

· Total control by the terrorists of all the of the
lifelines - water, electricity, food, evacuation of women
about to give birth, people injured, etc. Children being
transported daily to and from school, mothers and fathers
traveling to and from work, shopping, will be a matter of
life and death.

· In the event of an all-out war, the primary IDF forces
will be engaged in stopping the enemy on the borders. Yesha
will be abandoned and there will not be anyone to prevent
thousands of armed terrorists from attacking communities.
In the event of an attack on one of the communities, or on
several at one time, the IDF will not be able to come to
their aid and save them, especially if this will cause an
all-out conflict with the Palestinian Authority.

· In addition: According to the present orders concerning
use of firearms, it is forbidden to shoot at anyone not
carrying weapons. Thousands of Arabs are liable to attack,
using their bodies as weapons against IDF outposts or
communities, without being fired on. The distance between
major Palestinian population centers and Jewish communities
is very short. This is liable to lead to a general
slaughter of people, G-d forbid. During the battles
following "Nakba Day" - The Day of Catastrophe, a few weeks
ago, the real cause that ended the violence were two
helicopters flown above the rioters. The P.A. was
threatened with the bombing of their headquarters. However,
during a war, these helicopters will be at the front and
will not be able to deal with Palestinian threats, which
will ignite the territories. This is liable to be a one-on-
one battle, with a clear advantage to the Palestinians,
against Jewish communities facing surprise attack, isolated
and exposed.

Therefore, I have decided that with such a situation at
hand, I cannot hide behind my army rank and sit quietly. I
sense that I must warn that the expected dangers as a
result of the current process are very real and very
terrible. I turn to every Jew to act now, doing everything
possible to save our people and our state.

In summary, I add three points:

1. I am not dealing with the ethical values of
transfer of Eretz Yisrael, and not with the subject of
water. Both of these are of supreme importance and should
be dealt with separately. I am dealing with security and
saving of life.

2. The idea that peace and economic interests may
prevent war may be correct. However these considerations
are limited by time. We are obligated to our children and
the following generations.

3. Even if theoretically Judea and Samaria were to be
an arms-free zone (which today they are not), Palestinian
control of the border with Egypt and Jordan will allow the
flow of two million Palestinians into their state. They
will undoubtedly want to improve their standard of living,
for which the Palestinian Authority will be unable to help
them. The distance from here to Arafat's total loss of
control is minimal. Escalation, even against his will, is
guaranteed. The pressure will overflow into our borders,
with clear significance: Israel will be overrun with
Palestinian refugees, with "tourists," and unwanted and
illegal Arab immigrants, (which has already begun and
includes tens of thousands), violence, theft, etc.

Subject: [BPR] - Muslims celebrate as Islamic law declared in Nigeria
From: bpr-list@philologos.org

------- Forwarded message follows -------

Muslims celebrate as Islamic law declared in Nigeria

KANO, Nigeria (AFP) - A massive crowd of up to one million Muslims
celebrated Wednesday as authorities in the city of Kano declared
Islamic law in northern Nigeria's most populous state.

The declaration, made by Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, sets the north of
Nigeria more firmly than ever on a collision course with the
government of President Olusegun Obasanjo who has appealed repeatedly
for the Islamic code not to be enforced.

>From early Wednesday, hundreds of thousands of Muslims, mainly young
men, packed into the Eid Ground in the centre of Kano to witness the
declaration of the strict Islamic code, known as Sharia.

Two people were crushed to death by the crowd, estimated by officials
at up to one million, and more than 50 fainted and were hospitalised
in the heat, hospital officials said.

Kwankwaso, who had to cut short his address to the crowd because of
fears over crowd safety, told government and religious dignitaries it
was a historic day in the city, founded as a slave and gold trading
centre 1,000 years ago on the edge of the Sahara desert.

"This is a momentous day in the history of Kano State. It is the day
that Sharia is launched," Kwankwaso told officials here.

The governor said he had been advised by the Kano State chief imam,
Sheikh Isa Waziri, that the best date to start enforcing Sharia would
be the first day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, due this year
in early December.

"We have agreed," he said.

Before then, the Kano version of the code setting out legal provisions
and punishments will be drawn up, Islamic courts will be established
and an Islamic judiciary will be trained, he said.

Waziri said it was a day to be celebrated by every Muslim.

"Sharia is the backbone, the compass, of Muslims all over the world,
showing them their direction," he said.

Fears have been expressed that some sections of the Muslim youth in
Kano would use the occasion to attack minority Christians living in a
ghetto known as Sabon Gari.

Kwankwaso said that Islam was a religion of peace and tolerance and
that any attacks on those of other religions were un-Islamic.

"Islam urges people to follow in the footsteps of the prophet, and
show patience, honesty and trustworthiness and preserve the rights of
women, children and neighbours," he said.

However, the governor said the code would be enforced in hotels,
federal army and police barracks, and areas of the city that are
dominated by Christians.

"In the whole of Kano State, there will be no area where Sharia is not
implemented. There will be no exceptions," he said.

Outside the crowd celebrated with great cries of "Allahu akhbar" (God
is Greater) and Islamic lawyer Abubakar Mika'il Hassan explained that
Muslims believed that the introduction of Sharia would cure the many
problems besetting this country.

"This has a very long history in Nigeria," Hassan told AFP.

"We Muslims have been yearning to see the Sharia code be implemented
for many years. It is our right. We are grateful for the God almighty
that Sharia will be implemented today," he said.

The declaration of plans to introduce Islamic law in Kano makes the
state the fourth since October to declare Sharia, though one of those
states, Niger, has partly rescinded.

Attending the ceremony Wednesday were several northern state governors
including the governor of Yobe state, who announced he had sent a bill
on Sharia to his State House of Assembly, and the governor of Jigawa,
who said Sharia would be declared there on August 2.

Katsina and Kaduna states are also under pressure to declare the code.

Hi everyone,

For the next several days the BPR website and mailing list
will probably be experiencing some hiccups. Our ISP has had
to do some upgrading and moving of servers, and
unfortunately things didn't go quite as smooth as I had
hoped. For example, some areas of our website are not
accessible, while the pages that do show up are
considerably outdated.

As for the mailing list, if you send mail in and don't see
it go out to the list, try sending it again. A couple
pieces of mail that I sent in this morning got lost and I
had to resend them myself.

Also, my area of the U.S. is apparently experiencing
power failures from time to time. The power seems to go off at
the most inopportune time -- ususally just as I'm trying to
d'load or send mail. There may be times you'll be receiving
duplicate messages because of this. I do apologize in
advance should this occur.

Thanks for your patience guys...

"To Whom Does Haifa Belong?"

In an article entitled "To Whom does Haifa belong?" in the PA daily
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, columnist Kheiri Mansur repeats Palestinian
accusations that Israel forges history and archeology to falsely establish
the Jewish right to Israel. But this article expands these accusations to
include Haifa, which is part of pre-1967 Israel.

"The latest historical forgery committed in the Hebrew state is a new book
called 'Our Haifa,' published by the municipality of Haifa for the Jewish
students in the city, [while] Haifa is one of the most predominantly
Palestinian cities, and is still inhabited by its [Arab] citizens.
Despite their widespread expulsion, the number of Arabs [in Haifa] has
increased and they have adhered to their national identity and language
throughout half a century of occupation…"

"Once again, the authors of the book stole Haifa [from the Arabs]
educationally and tried to record their [alleged] historical ownership of
the city. [But] even among the Jews themselves it is no longer possible
to sell the legend of 'a land without people [for a people with out a
land]' as the [increasing] Arab population [in Israel] is becoming a time
bomb…"

"The question we ask after more than 50 years of occupation in Palestine
is this: to whom do Haifa and her sister cities belong? What determines
this ownership -- the weapon and the military reality, or the memory, the
national conscious and the dream?"

"We know that the homeland is not only a memory but also a future…. If it
were just a memory it would have elapsed with its generation. But reality
reveals an opposite picture. …The Palestinian child who was born in exile
and whose parents were born in exile… still says he was born in the
village or town from which his grandfather was banished…

"Jewish authors and poets wrote about Haifa, Jaffa, Acre and even
Jerusalem, but it was all ideological imagination -- no more, no less.
…Analogies [made] between Arab texts and Hebrew texts about Palestine
reveal that the Hebrew ones are filled with forgeries and phoney
anticipation… [whereas] the people who lived for centuries on their own
soil and under their own skies [i.e. the Arabs] were necessarily created
with the components of the venue. Their breath was mingled with their
ancestors' sigh and each relic brings back the echo of the past…"

"This book… is not the first [of its type] and of course will not be the
last …for the battle [has just] begun, although some think it ended.
More than a million of the 1948 Palestinians announced their Palestinian
and Arab identity in front of the [Israeli] military regime…"

"Writing or inventing these books has to do with only one dimension of
[deleting] history… But there is a guard in the watch tower of
Palestinian memory…"

"The demolition and renaming of 400 [Arab] villages did not delete them
from history. On the contrary, the inhabitants came back in their dreams
to reconstruct them. The memory of the fathers and the grandfathers
supply them with the magic keys for the rusted keyholes…"

"Taking all this into account, the question is: how are we to believe that
the 'Israeli;' intentions for peace and co-existence are serious, when
Israel keeps digging under school benches and under the cultic and antique
sites…?"(1)

Subject: [BPR] - AZ Governor Says No To Bible Proclamations/Yes to Buddha

Arizona Governor Says No To Bible Proclamations

TUCSON, AZ (EP) -- Threatened lawsuits over "Bible Week" led Arizona Gov.
Jane Hull to say she would avoid any future official proclamations
involving religion. But Hull recently signed a proclamation commemorating
the birth of Buddha, an action that has some Christians in the state
accusing her of hypocrisy.

Press Secretary Francie Noyes told Focus on the Family's "Citizen Alert"
that there is a difference between the two. "The [Buddha proclamation]
encourages a diversity of beliefs and the [Bible Week proclamation]
suggests that people follow a particular belief," Noyes said.

Asked if Hull would sign a proclamation commemorating the birth of Jesus,
Noyes said, "I honestly can't tell you that. As I said, we look at these
things on a ... on a case-by-case basis. And you know, Jesus' birthday is
Christmas and it already is a legal holiday."

Janet Parshall of the Family Research Council called Hull's action
discriminatory. "All of this conversation about tolerance is really
replete with hypocrisy," Parshall insisted. "In the marketplace of ideas,
those who talk about and extol the virtues of tolerance will tell you that
all ideas are up for sale in that marketplace, except for the booth where
men and women of the Word of God choose to share their world view."
