NEW TENDERS NO LONGER ISSUED: The leaders of Yesha (Judea,
Samaria, and the Gaza Strip), say that seven months after the political
upset in Israel, not only has the government changed but also the entire
system. They say that on the instructions of the prime minister, the
Housing Ministry has ceased publishing new tenders. The
subcommittee of the Supreme Planning Council for Judea and Samaria
is convening to discuss construction in the settlements only with
advance approval of the prime minister or his deputy in the Defense
Ministry, Efrayim Sneh.

In another story, ARUTZ-7 has learned that by the end of the year 2000, the
IDF (Israel Defense Force) plans to totally cease army guard duty within the
Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria. The number of IDF guards in
Yesha has already been decreased by 40% over the past several weeks. IDF
Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Sha'ul Mofaz informed a gathering of Home Front
Command officers last Thursday that budgetary constraints are to blame,
and added that most of the residents are army veterans who can protect
themselves. In response, the Yesha Council has informed Yesha's security
officers not to man the guard posts vacated by the army. Council Chairman
Benny Kashriel informed O.C. Command Maj.-Gen. Moshe Ya'alon that
beginning in April, the large Yesha townships of Ma'aleh Adumim, Beitar,
and Givat Ze'ev will halt their funding for security guards in their localities. As
if this were not enough, the Magen David Adom medical organization also
announced last week that it would cut back on special emergency services
throughout Yesha by the end of this month, as future government funding has
not been approved. The Yesha Council has asked for an urgent meeting with
Deputy Defense Minister Sneh "before the entire network collapses."

The Jewish population in Judea and Samaria grew last year by almost
3%, and now numbers 177,000 people.

RALLY FOR JERUSALEM: An estimated 5,000 people took part in the
drive-in/march Tuesday night against the continued Waqf desecration of
the Temple Mount and in favor of the unity of Jerusalem. The unique
demonstration was organized by the Zo Artzeinu (This is Our Land)
movement, and involved many hundreds of cars from all over the
country. The event featured two stages one motorized, and one on
foot. Demonstrators from around the country arrived in the capital with
pro-Jerusalem posters and flags on their cars. One group of
demonstrators set out from Gamla in the Golan, where 1900-year-old
coins bearing the words "For the Liberty of Jerusalem" the theme of
the demonstration were uncovered. Drivers parked in the Kidron Valley
where the Muslim Waqf has dumped the remains of the treasures it dug
up from under the Temple Mount. The participants, holding torches, then
marched to a spot close to the Mount, and took part in an allegiance-
declaring ceremony to Jerusalem and to the site of the Holy Temple.
The force behind the demonstration, Moshe Feiglin, said, "It's not only
the left, or the right, who are causing us to lose Jerusalem they are
both responsible! We hope to help bring to power a new government that
is based on people of faith, one that will restore to our nation its
awareness of its special mission."

INTERVIEW: DR. GABI BARKAY ON TEMPLE MOUNT
EXCAVATIONS: IMRA (Independent Media Review & Analysis)
interviewed archeologist Dr. Gabi Barkay of Bar Illan University, Land of
Israel Studies Department, in English, on 24 January 2000.

IMRA: Do you have a sense as to how much damage was caused by
the excavations at the Temple Mount?

BARKAY: No I don't have. Nobody knows what was destroyed there and
that is the tragedy. There was no recording and the dig was done
clandestinely at night by heavy machinery and trucks and nobody
knows. Only the result is there.

IMRA: I have spoken with people from the Waqf and they say that if you
look at photographs from 60 or 80 years ago that the area excavated
didn't exist. That the area being excavated was basically modern landfill.

BARKAY: This is outrageous. Totally incorrect. The Temple Mount has
never been touched archeologically. Its surface has not even been
properly surveyed. Nothing is known about the Temple Mount and all the
aerial photographs that we have since the beginning of photography all
indicate that that area did not change much since antiquity. What was
done there is destruction.

IMRA: Is there any indication of what was destroyed from the excavated
material dumped in the Kidron Valley?

BARKAY: By the way, the illegal dumping in the Kidron Valley that
ruins the landscape there is another violation. It is very strange that
nobody has done anything against the illegal activity of the excavation
or the dumping.

IMRA: Have you had a look at the excavated material now dumped in
the Kidron Valley?

BARKAY: Yes, as have others. I found pottery from many different
periods in the dumped material going back to the 8th century BC First
Temple Period and onwards. I saw this pottery with my own eyes.

IMRA: What information was lost by seeing the pottery only after it was
dumped in Kidron?

BARKAY: Wherever you dig in Jerusalem has a mixture pottery and
finds from different periods. This is what tells us about the history of a
particular place. The exact position of the various pieces of pottery vis-a- vis
each other and the earthen layers, which include the pottery are clues to the
history of the sight. If this is eliminated then we don't have the history.

The Temple Mount is almost three times the size of the City of David
and we know nothing about it, as it was never excavated. It is one of the
most essential parts of the ancient story of Jerusalem. Anything we
learn about it is new and here we had an opportunity.

Nobody said that there can't be a new entrance to a mosque built just
that it could have been done more carefully, honoring the cultural values
of the past of Jerusalem and honoring the law.

IMRA: What would you say about the work of the Antiquities
Department?

BARKAY: Their job, by law, is to safeguard the antiquities of the
country and they aren't doing it. They have somebody having higher
authority disturbing them. Telling them what to do and about what to be
quiet.

WEIZMAN SAYS HE WILL NOT RESIGN: Addressing the nation for the
first time since disclosures about his alleged receipt of illegal funds
were made public, President Ezer Weizman said that he would not
resign, HA'ARETZ reported. Weizman is under criminal investigation for
allegedly receiving $453,000 from French businessman Edouard
Saroussi between 1988-93 while serving as a cabinet minister. In a
statement broadcast live on television and radio on Sunday night,
Weizman said, "I do not intend to resign. A person with a clean
conscience is not afraid and does not flee." Weizman said that he
consulted a lawyer who assured him that all of his actions were legal
and without blemish and that "even if I made a mistake, it was a human
mistake, made in good faith."

BARAK ALSO UNDER INVESTIGATION: Prime Minister Ehud Barak's One
Israel political bloc faced a criminal investigation Thursday after an official
report found it broke election laws on campaign funding for the May 1999
elections. In a report on party financing, state comptroller Eliezer Goldberg
singled out One Israel as the worst offender for channeling funds for the
election campaign through non-profit organizations and ordered it to pay
around NIS 13 million ($3.3 million) in penalties. Attorney-General Eliyakim
Rubinstein's office said he has ordered the police to launch an investigation
into a number of matters raised in the comptroller's report, including possible
fraud by One Israel. "Funds were channeled in a cloud of secrecy to some of
the non-profit organizations through mediators, through contributions, some
of which came from abroad, some of which were large sums contributions
which are illegal according to the law," Rubinstein's office said in a
statement. [Editor's note: If all this sounds suspiciously like what happened
after the last election of US President Clinton, it should be noted that the
same "team" used to elect Clinton (as well as the Chancellor of Germany
and the Prime Minister of Britain, among others) James Carville et al was
also used to elect Barak. Don't look for charges to be brought against Barak;
they were not brought against Clinton either.] Rubinstein also said he
ordered an investigation into the financing of campaigns by the right-wing
opposition Likud party, the Russian immigrant party Israel Our Home and the
ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism, in addition to the Centre Party, a
member of Barak's coalition. Goldberg's report said a total of 19 political
parties out of the 31 contesting the election had committed "grave breaches"
of the election law under which foreign contributions to election campaigns
are illegal and domestic donations must be restricted to NIS 1,700
(approximately $400) per voter.

'ADAPTING' HISTORY TO FIT THE SITUATION: On a recent tour for a
visiting Jewish group at Orient House, Palestinian official Rami Tahboub
announced: "Jerusalem has been the capital of the Palestinian people for
more than 5,000 years" [In 135 CE, the Romans renamed Judea "Palestinia"
and Jerusalem, "Aelia Capitolina." ed]. To combat Israel's biblical claim to
the Land of Israel, Palestinians no longer declare that they are part of the
great Arab nation as they used to do before the establishment of Israel,
when only Jews were called Palestinians. Now they trace their lineage to the
Jebusites, Canaanites, Philistines, and all the other tribes displaced by the
Israelites according to the Bible. That they also claim that the Bible stories
are fiction does not seem to bother them. Nor are they perturbed by the fact
that such ancestry would mean that they are not Arabs, and that the Arab
invasion of the 7th century was a foreign occupation. Logic and history are
irrelevant to this myth-weaving. Several years ago PA/PLO member Hanan
Ashrawi signaled this new direction of Arab propaganda when she
announced in Madrid that she was a descendant of the first Christians. This
would make her a Jew a distinction she would probably be less than happy
to claim.

GUARDIAN REMOVES ISRAEL FROM 20TH CENTURY: In it's 1
January weekly magazine, the British daily THE GUARDIAN devoted 92
pages to a review of the 20th century. Remarkably, Israel is never
mentioned. Jews are mentioned only once in the caption of a
photograph: "1943 German troops clear the Warsaw ghetto. After a
month of bitter house-to-house combat, Jewish resistance fighters were
overcome by vastly superior forces. Of the 56,000 Jews rounded up by
the Nazis, 7,000 were executed and the remainder sent to death
camps." This is the extent of the Jewish role in the 20th century. Even
the caption of a picture of trenches filled with bodies in Bergen-Belsen
fails to mention Jews. "1945, Belsen British troops entered the camp
in April 1945. They found 35,000 bodies and another 30,000 inmates
near death. In the days following the liberation many hundreds more
died from disease or starvation."

STOCKHOLM CONFERENCE MISSES POINT: This past week a conference
was held in Stockholm, Sweden dedicated to fighting antisemitism. The
problem is that it focused on Western antisemitism, which does not now
threaten the existence of the Jewish people. Today's war against the Jews is
being waged not in Europe but in the Middle East, the only region in the
world where governments not gangs, demagogues, fake scholars and
demented fanatics, but the regimes themselves propagate antisemitism
and advocate the destruction of the Jewish nation. It is in Arab schools
Syrian, Palestinian, Egyptian, Saudi, Jordanian and others that children
learn that Jews have no right to exist. It is in Syria, whose leaders are now
warmly embraced by the whole civilized world for making "a strategic
decision for peace," that first-graders read in their first primer "The Jews are
criminal villains." It is in every following grade and almost every subject in
Arab schools that Jews are depicted as enemies of humanity. Even an
arithmetic drill contains a question such as: "Nine soldiers fled from a Jewish
company. How many Jewish soldiers did we kill if the number of soldiers in
the company was 17?" The inspiration for such a curriculum is unmistakable
to anyone who has perused Third Reich textbooks and seen the Nazi film
"The Eternal Jew". It can be taken for granted that this real, current threat
against Jews will not intrude on the Stockholm proceedings. The good
leaders of the West will condemn the Nazis and their collaborators, discuss
educational programs and museums, and perhaps even talk about
compensation for survivors. But no one, least of all the Swedish host, will
dare mention that even as they speak, a Nuremberg-type law that makes the
sale of land to Jews punishable by death is being enforced by the US-
sponsored Palestinian Authority (PA/PLO).

SNOW IN ISRAEL! Four people died in weather-related accidents over
the weekend and dozens had to be treated for hypothermia as a result
of the storm that brought snow to Jerusalem, the Negev, and the Galilee
peaks, as well as the Golan and Mount Hermon. The heaviest snow was
on Mount Hermon, where over two meters (3.5 feet) accumulated on the
lower slopes with drifts of nearly seven meters (23 feet) on the peak by
Saturday.

ARAFAT, BARAK TO MEET NEXT WEEK: Barak and Palestinian
leader Yasser Arafat will meet next week amid fading hopes for
concluding the outline of a peace agreement by the deadline they set,
13 February. "If they don't meet it, they'll reach some understanding
about how to deal with that problem," a senior US official said Saturday
after a 30-minute meeting between Arafat and President Clinton. The
Barak-Arafat meeting will be held Thursday or Friday at Erez, a border
crossing between Israel and Palestinian-held Gaza, and will focus on
the major unresolved issues, said the official, who briefed reporters on
condition of anonymity. The State Department announced Thursday that
senior US 'mediator' Dennis Ross would go to the Middle East to help in
the search for a settlement. Ross is due in Israel on Wednesday.

MILLENNIUM ACTUALLY STARTS IN 2001, Terrorists Note: With the world
breathing a collective sigh of relief following the violence-free passage into the
year 2000, an international coalition of terrorists issued a reminder Monday
that the new millennium does not actually begin until January 1, 2001.
"Technically speaking, we are now in the last year of the 20th century," said
Mahmoud al-Habib, a spokesperson for the terrorist organization Hamas.
"Since there was no year zero, next New Year's Eve is the real time to
detonate bombs in Times Square and blow commercial airliners out of the
sky." Speaking from a secret bunker in the Kashmir hills, Osama bin Laden
agreed. "We were all set to blow up the Eiffel Tower," bin Laden said, "when
one of my suicide bombers pointed out that it should actually be done next
January 1, not this one. I suppose we'll just have to wait."

THIS WEEK IN JEWISH HISTORY

23 January 1639: Auto de Fe at Lima, Peru More than eighty new
Christians were burned after the Inquisition discovered that they were
holding regular Jewish services.

25 January 1904: Theodor Herzl met Pope Pius X and tried to convince
him to support the vision of Zionism without any success. The pope
totally rejected the idea that Jerusalem will be in Jewish hands.

28 January 1668: Pope Clement IX canceled the humiliating "forced
races". Known as the "Palio", near-naked Jews were forced to run
through the streets of Rome during carnival time. In return for the
revocation, the Jews of Rome had to pay a special cancellation tax of
200 ducats. This tax was paid for almost 200 years.

29 January 1808: In Canada, though Ezekiel Hart (1767-1843) was
elected to the Canadian parliament, he was prevented from taking his
seat because as a Jew he could not take the oath "on the true faith of a
Christian". Though reelected in May 1808, and in April 1809, he was
again prevented from being seated. Only in 1832 was legislation passed
allowing Jews to hold public office and giving them full civil rights.

VATICAN BANK SUED FOR ALLEGED WAR CRIMES

Note: case is Emil Alperin et al. vs. Vatican Bank et al., No. 99 C 4941, U.S.
District Court, Northern District of California, filed 11/15/99.

In apparently the first legal action of its kind, the Vatican Bank has been
sued by World War Two victims and their heirs and beneficiaries. Brought as
a class action in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, the initial plaintiffs
are Ukranians and ex-Soviet citizens but the affected class includes
Serbians, Roma, anti-Fascist Croatians, and Jews.

The suit seeks "an accounting, restitution, disgorgement and to recover
damages arising out of defendant VATICAN BANK (hereinafter referred to as
IOR[Instituto Per Le Opere Di Religione,Institute for Religious Works]), the
FRANCISCAN ORDER, and other banking institutions' and religious orders
and organizations participation in a common scheme and course of conduct:
 

"(1) to profit from, both directly and indirectly, the inhumane and genocidal
system instituted by the Nazi and Ustasha ideology;

"(2) to obtain, accept, conceal, convert and profit from assets looted by the
Ustasha Regime and deposited in, or liquidated through, the IOR, Defendant
Banks, and Franciscan organization during the ascendency of the Ustasha
regime and following the demise of the regime at the behest of former
Ustasha and Nazi leaders through the offices of the Franciscan Order; and

"(3) to retain and convert assets deposited in their institutions by the
Ustasha and the Franciscan Order." The suit uses the definition: "The
'Ustasha Regime' is defined as the German puppet fascist government of
Croatia under the direction of its leader Ante Pavelic known as the 'Poglavnik'
(Leader). The Ustasha regime operated under German protectorate from
1941 through 1945 and included numerous members of the Franciscan Order
as both military and civil functionaries".

The Court papers state "Among the top Nazi beneficiaries of the Croatian-
Vatican treasure was Adolph Eichmann who received a new identity as a
'Croatian refugee' before being smuggled to South America."

The suit points out "Evidence of the extent of the defendant's participation in
wrongdoing has only recently come to light as a result of the disclosure and
declassification of archived documents in the United States, Great Britain,
Germany and other countries, as well as from the reports of several
commissions and/or task forces created by the United States, Germany,
and elsewhere and in particular the 1997 Supplemental Report by the United
States State Department: U.S. and Allied Efforts to Recover and Restore
Gold and Other Assets Stolen or Hidden by Germany During World War
II,'The Fate of the Wartime Ustasha Treasury' released under the auspices of
Under Secretary of State Stuart E. Eizenstat."

Among the fourteen pages of details in the Court pleadings, "Vatican
Bank...has its principal place of business and is incorporated in Vatican City
but conducts business and financial transactions worldwide on behalf of the
Roman Catholic Church including the United States and California with total
assets in excess of 3 billion dollars. Defendant IOR engages in for-profit
merchant banking transactions in the United States, California, and
elsewhere through its investments and transactions with other banks.
Defendant Franciscan Order also known as First Order of Franciscans
(O.F.M.) includes and/or included several Croatian Franciscan Orders in
California, the United States, Croatia, and Italy."

Other eye-opening details in the suit include: "Croatian troops assisted the
German occupiers of Ukraine in their systematic plundering and looting of
Ukrainian resources and individual property. In exchange for the Croatian
assistance in Ukraine, the Ustasha were given a free hand in Croatia and
Bosnia to loot, plunder and terrorize the non-Croatian populace. The Croatian
Treasury contained plunder from Ukraine and assets seized from the
Ustasha victims in Yugoslavia. Without the full support of Nazi Germany for
its loyal ally, the Ustasha, the Ustasha Treasury would not have been
permitted to retain the profits from Ustasha atrocities, instead these funds
would have been sent to Germany."

Further, "Upon the demise of the Ustasha government in 1945, assets valued
between 50 and 180 million dollars were transferred from the capital, Zagreb.
The majority of these funds, estimated at more than 80 million dollars were
transferred to Vatican City with the assistance of Roman Catholic clergy and
in particular members of the Franciscan order part of or sympathetic to the
Ustasha."

Moreover, "Many officials of the Ustasha government, including the war
criminals like Pavelic, were secretly housed by the Franciscan Order in
Vatican City or Rome. The Ustasha Treasury with the assistance of IOR and
Franciscans was used to resettle the Ustasha fugitives in Spain, Argentina,
the United States and other sympathetic countries. The Ustasha were also
alleged to have reaped profits in conjunction with their Franciscan and IOR
benefactors by black market activities in post war Italy, selling Vatican and
Red Cross documents to Nazi war criminals and by acting as informants and
provocateurs for various intelligence services."

As a class action, the suit raises common questions of fact and law,
including:

"Did the defendant IOR knowingly or otherwise carry out banking
transactions that involved capital or assets that included looted and
plundered assets of victims of the Nazi and Ustasha Regime deposited with
the IOR by the remnants of the Ustasha Regime or the Franciscan order?

"Did the Defendants Banks, IOR, or Franciscan Order improperly retain or
convert deposited assets of the plaintiffs to/for their own or another's use?

"Did the defendants knowingly aid and profit from the concealment of the
Ustasha wartime Treasury?

"Did the defendants knowingly assist fugitive war criminals from the Nazi and
Ustasha regimes by making available and providing international transfer of
funds?"

Among the pleadings "Facts Specific to IOR and Roman Catholic Religious
Orders": "Many high officials of the Ustasha government were Roman
Catholic clergy and in particular Franciscans. The Vatican maintained an
'Apostolic visitor' in Zegreb, the Croatian capital from 1941 until the end of the
War. Relations between the Vatican and the Ustasha were cordial. The
Papal legate in Croatia was Mgr. Marcone, who openly blessed the Ustasha,
publicly gave the Fascist salute, and transmitted instructions from Rome to
the Croatian clergy and episcopacy, principally concerning the forced
conversions of the Eastern Orthodox Christians."

Among the many details of the complaint: that the former Ustasha Treasury
was used post-World War Two to finance Nazi fugitives in exile. That the
Vatican Bank to date "has refused to account for the Ustasha related
transactions despite numerous inquiriebs from other governments and the
London Conference on Nazi Gold."

Those close to the pending lawsuit advised us not to attract too much
attention to the lawsuit on TV in Chicago. Why? The apparent reason is the
large Pro-Vatican Croatian community in the Windy City as well as what
some contend is a large number of the Ustasha or their offspring who live in
Chicago. In the 1970s, there were many violent events between the Croat
and Serb communities in Chicago, including shootings and bombings, not
well reported outside of town.

A few years ago when we taped a one hour Cable TV Show on the subject of
Bosnia and Serbia, one of the program guests threatened to leave the studio
if I raised the issue of Vatican complicity in "ethnic cleansing" of Serbs from
Croatia, by which many thousands of Serbs were killed or injured. [Another
guest did raise the issue.] During the Kosovo War, Spring of 1999, the
monopoly press said almost nothing about the bloodshed in Croatia
reportedly instigated at least in part, by the Vatican. It is perhaps no
coincidence that the Vatican Bank suit was brought in San Francisco.
Headquartered there is the Bank of America, owned jointly by the Vatican,
the Jesuits, and the Rothschilds. The parent holding company, Bank
America, has been reportedly largely bought out by the Japanese mafia, the
Yakuza. Most every bank in California is reportedly owned by the Yakuza.
Seldom mentioned by the news fakers: the Yakuza is the main force in West
Coast dope trafficking.

A possible problem in the case getting a fair hearing and trial: Most of the
judges in the federal judiciary in California are banker-judges. Will they
arbitrarily protect the Vatican Bank and other banking institutions implicated
in the case? The federal appeals court in San Francisco is riddled with
banker-judges. It is an unpublicized situation,by the way, throughout the
U.S. and throughout the history of the federal courts in the United States.

The Golan Formula for War

When ingredients are mixed together in a specified formula, the
results are consistently realized. From these proven
formulas, the results from comparable mixtures can be foreseen
or estimated. The following is a look at a formula
that indicates that we are very near to the final seven years
before the return of Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures name the Golan Heights as Golan of Bashan. Psalm
136:17-22 tell of Israel´s heritage to possess
Bashan by the decree of God. Isaiah 33:9-14 tells us of the
final days, when Bashan will be shaken in the day of
God´s judgment. Jeremiah 50:19-20 has foretold that this day of
judgment would come in the day that God´s people
would be back in the land of Israel.

Negotiations between Israel and Syria over Golan of Bashan in
order to avert war are unstable and precarious, during
January 2000. Syria will soon lose all claims to the Golan,
then a second adversary will appear on its Heights.

In Chapter 38 verses 8 through 11 of the Old Testament Book of
Ezekiel, we are told by prophecy that in these last
days the world can expect to witness an invasion of the land of
Israel by the people of Magog and a number of other
countries. Ezekiel 39:17-21 prophesies Magog and its allies
will someday fall upon the mountains of Bashan. Magog
is modern-day Russia.

What is of particular interest is the conditions prophesied to
be found in Israel at the time of this invasion. Quoting
from Ezekiel 38:11 we read: “You will say, I will go up against
a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful
people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls,
and having neither bars nor gates.” These conditions
can only be the result of the establishment of a physical peace
in the region. A repetition of the sham treaties Israel
has continually been damaged by in the past will never in our
opinion bring about this environment of Jews living in
unsecured homes with tangible peace and safety.

Knowing of the increasingly unstable conditions in Israel in
spite of the numerous written agreements Israel has
made with her neighbors it becomes obvious that something
dramatic must take place in the hearts and minds of the
people of this region in order for the peace described in
Ezekiel 38:11 to take place.

A first consideration might be that such an incredible
outpouring of love and forgiveness sweeps through the region
that Israel immediately throws all caution to the wind. and
embraces trust.

Secondly, (and we believe more likely) is that a horrible war
transpires; Israel´s enemies are defeated and the
destruction and fear induced by the use of weapons of mass
destruction brings about a true attitude of contrition.
The peace will most likely in our estimation be brought to
realization through the desire of self-preservation and war
weariness.

The Anti-Christ along with the globalist powers granted to him
by what has come to be known as International Law
could promise at this opportune moment security for the region.
Shared worship on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem
by Jews, Catholics and Moslems would ideally be the focal point
of goodwill used to bind together the conciliatory
people of that region. Nuclear disarmament would most likely
soon follow. Israel has already vowed to Egypt in
1995 that they would open their nuclear facilities to inspectors
and would sign the Nuclear NonProliferation Pact
within two years of signing peace treaties with their neighbors.

When the prophesied seven year peace covenant of Daniel 9:27 is
signed, we believe that the period prophesied of in
I Thessalonians 5:3 will begin. The Scriptures tell us of that
time, “For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then
sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a
pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.”

During this respite from warfare, we believe that the Jews will
rebuild their temple, restore their ancient religious
customs (including animal sacrifices), and will witness the
return of the remaining dispersed Jews from around the
globe in an exodus that will astound the world as is prophesied
in Isaiah 43:5-7.

Within the first three-and-one-half years of this treaty, it is
our opinion that Magog (that is Russia), will fulfill Ezekiel
Chapters 38 and 39, when like Pharaoh of old they will pursue
the Jews who have set their paths to the promised
land and will be committed to their destruction.

Are there others who have considered the Golan Heights
negotiations as a formula for war in the Middle East?

In a June, 1995 interview by Prophecy in the News with Avi
Lipkin, a reserve officer with the Israeli Defense Forces,
Mr. Lipkin had this to say, “I believe [war] is definitely an
immediate threat.” Avi Lipkin´s view is in agreement
with the Council on Foreign Relations´ assessment and seems to
be that of most Israeli citizens. Continuing on in
his interview Avi Lipkin´s words became solemn. “Syria wants
the whole Golan Heights back...There is within the
Labor Party a faction of about 10 members who are part of the
Golan Heights caucus. From what I understand, the
moment the Secretary of State...announces that there is an
agreement between Israel and Syria...this 10 member
caucus will torpedo the Labor government, even though they are
Labor people...” According to this scenario, if
Syria is given the Golan it will mean war--if denied the Golan
it will still mean war.

The following are news items which are added ingredients to the
Golan formula for war.

A July 22, 1999 Akhbar headline read, “[Egypt´s President
Hosni] Mubarek Presses for Return of Golan to Syria.”

The headline of an August 5, 1999 Arabic News article read,
“Syria will ask for one third of Israel if Israel continues
to raise the question of the Golan.”

In a January 16, 2000 article from Excite News that headlined
“Syria Wants Israelis Out of Golan” it was reported
that, “Syria...made clear Sunday...Syria would reject any
Israeli proposals to allow some of the 17,000 Jewish
settlers to remain on the Golan...countering Israeli reports
that some settlers could be allowed to stay on the plateau
and that Syria had agreed to joint management of the Golan´s
water sources. Syria Times said Sunday that such
Israeli suggestions “would be rejected.” Israel was also warned
that it...”should provide ‘definite answers´ about
returning the Golan to Syria in peace talks this week...”

Syria will one day soon attack Israel for the last time and we
are told of her fate in Jeremiah 49:26: “Therefore her
young men shall fall in the streets, And all the men of war
shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts.”

Today is the day to put your faith in Jesus Christ the Son of
God for your salvation. He was crucified on the cross
almost two thousand years ago in payment for our sins, then rose
from the grave on the third day so that His victory
over death was made available to all who would believe in Him
for the forgiveness of their sins. Believe in the Lord
Jesus Christ and receive His free gift of eternal life.

Information in places

As global positioning, wireless communication, and mobile display
technologies continue to advance, our notion of place will change.
Information objects--first geocoded signs and later animated special effects--
will begin to populate real physical space on what we call WorldBoard
channels. WorldBoard is a proposed global infrastructure to associate
information with places and ultimately to provide people with enhanced
information perception services. This paper explores the notion of a
WorldBoard from four perspectives: historical background, technical
feasibility, potential applications, and social implications. Recent
developments, ranging from lower-cost Global Positioning System (GPS)-
enabled car navigation systems to Casio Electronics' first-of-a-kind GPS-
enabled wristwatch, foreshadow increased availability of location-aware
information services and products. While significant technical, application
development, and social challenges remain before a complete WorldBoard
infrastructure can be made broadly, uniformly, and cost-effectively available,
some feasible first steps toward this important goal are recommended.
Finally, a notion like WorldBoard offers an opportunity to reflect on how
technological possibilities unfold.

What if we could put information in places? More precisely, what if we could
associate relevant information with a place and perceive the information as if
it were really there? WorldBoard is a vision of doing just that on a planetary
scale and as a natural part of everyday life. For example, imagine being able
to enter an airport and see a virtual red carpet leading you right to your gate,
look at the ground and see property lines or underground buried cables, walk
along a nature trail and see virtual signs near plants and rocks, or simply
look at the night sky and see the outlines of the constellations.

In a 1992 paper, Warren Robinett describes some of the ways that
augmented reality can be used to extend human perception, beyond the
more familiar ways that devices like the telescope and microscope extend
human perception.[4] The primary difference, of course, is that devices like
the telescope and microscope show us only what is actually there, whereas
augmented reality systems can superimpose useful information drawn from
any aspect of human culture or imagination. For example, the constellations
are both physical reality (position of stars) and human invention (mythology
projected onto the heavens). For another example, a telescope can help us
see pinpoints of light circling Jupiter, but an augmented reality system can
allow us to perceive the moons with their projected orbits, names of the
moons and other useful information, whether or not Jupiter is above or below
the horizon, and whether or not it is daytime or nighttime. How might
electronic expansion of human perception change our relationship to the
world and to information about the world?

The science of human perception, the technology of augmented reality, the
art of special effects, and the culture of the information age come together to
enable WorldBoard and potentially change our notion of place. A stable
notion of place has been fundamental to the way we live our lives;[5,6] we
build mental models of objects in spatial array around us in places; we go to
places to do routine things; we put things in places for reasons; different
individuals or organizations control what can and cannot be done in a place
or put in a place; we all control some limited number of places and expect
that things we put in those places will be there for us. WorldBoard, if it can
be made broadly, uniformly, and cost-effectively available, changes our
notion of place in some fundamental ways. First, a new conceptual category
of thing (nonphysical information) can now seemingly be in a place. Second,
since information takes up no real physical space, the same place can
appear differently depending on who is perceiving it and for what purpose
(i.e., by tuning to a different WorldBoard channel). Third, many of the most
useful properties of a place, such as its history, can be stored with the place

To explore the implications of WorldBoard as it relates to putting information
in its place, this paper is structured around six questions:

1. Initial concept: What is the basic idea behind WorldBoard?
2. Historical background: What have the pioneers achieved?
3. Technical feasibility: Can it really be done?
4. Potential applications: Will it be truly useful?
5. Social implications: Will it catch on?
6. Reflections: Are we even close in our thinking?
