New Flying Machine Completed
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP)--It almost sounds too futuristic to be true,
but NASA and a Silicon Valley engineer are developing a one-person air
scooter that can buzz far over gridlocked streets.
``It's an exciting time for all of us involved in this monumental
project,'' said Michael Moshier, an aerospace engineer and former Navy
combat pilot who founded Millennium Jet Inc. ``We have all been
dreaming of such a vehicle for many years, and now the dream is
becoming a reality.''
Moshier has spent more than three years and close to $1 million on his
personal flying machine, which can be seen on the company's Web site
at www.solotrek.com. For now, it looks like something out of a
``Jetsons'' cartoon.
But officials at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif.,
said there's nothing funny about the SoloTrek Exo-Skeletor Flying
Vehicle. Plans call for it to go up to 80 mph, climb as high as 10,000
feet and get about 20 miles per gallon of regular gasoline.
``We are genuinely interested in the long-term possibilities for
enabling personal vertical flight,'' said NASA's Aeromechanics branch
chief Bill Warmbrodt.
As part of an agreement that was to be formally announced Thursday,
NASA will provide engineering, technology and testing, while
Millennium Jet will build and eventually market the craft.
During initial tests, scheduled for later this year, the SoloTrek will
only hover a few feet off the ground.
To fly a SoloTrek, the pilot stands on two footrests, leans on a
sliding backrest and grips handles that control the tilt and speed of
Hula Hoop-sized air ducts blowing air at about 45 mph.
The 8-foot-tall aircraft will transport an individual for up to 90
minutes before needing to be refueled.
In another high-tech twist, a built-in retinal scanner in the pilot's
helmet prevents the SoloTrek from turning on unless the pilot is
identified as having been through a rigorous training course.
NASA officials said they rarely sign up to work with outside
inventors, despite hundreds of pitches. But they said they were
impressed with Moshier's technology and its potential.
The closest commercial flying contraption to the SoloTrek is a rocket
belt, which first showed up in the 1965 James Bond movie
``Thunderball.'' The American Rocket Belt Corp. later developed one
for sale, but that hydrogen peroxide-powered rocket belt could only
propel its wearer aloft for about 30 seconds.

*** Barak vows to reinforce settlement
MAALEH ADUMIM, West Bank (AP) - Prime Minister Ehud Barak pledged to
strengthen the largest Jewish settlement in the West Bank, despite
Palestinian statements that the new peace talks could be scuttled by
settlement expansion. Barak made the pledge during a tour of Maaleh
Adumim on Tuesday - a day after the launch of Israeli-Palestinian
talks on a final peace agreement. It was a pointed reminder that he
intends to cultivate hard-liners even as he moves to revive the peace
process. Referring to housing under construction in the settlement of
25,000, he said: "Every house that is being built is part of the State
of Israel forever, period." See

*** China celebrates 50th anniversary
BEIJING (AP) - Scripted slogans, yes. Stray cigarette butts and
out-of-towners, no. And as little spontaneity as possible, please.
Official control is triumphing over public enthusiasm as China
prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of communist rule on Oct.
1. Beijing's streets are being painstakingly groomed and the masses
tutored in how to express their joy on the big day. This week, state
media announced the 50 slogans allowed in the festivities. While
they're a far cry from the classic "Long Live Mao Tse-tung," they bear
the heavy mark of the Communist Party. Among them: "Long live the
great Chinese Communist Party!" and "Long Live the Great People's
Republic of China!" And what they lack in zing, some make up for in
sheer length: "The Fundamental Task of the Socialist Society is the
Development of Productive Forces!" See

*** Jordan backs Lebanon, Syria on talks
BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - Jordan said Tuesday it supports Lebanon and
Syria in their insistence that the two countries hold joint peace
negotiations with Israel rather than conduct them separately. Jordan
and Lebanon made the announcement after a 22-hour visit by Jordan's
King Abdullah II, during which he held talks with Lebanese President
Emile Lahoud and other top officials. Abdullah returned to Amman
Tuesday. The two countries urged the United States and Russia - the
sponsors of the peace talks - as well as the world community to
"intensify efforts for the resumption of the negotiations on the

ending a half year of turmoil at the EU's executive office. The
legislature backed the 19 Commissioners and President Romano Prodi
with a margin of 414-142, with 35 abstentions. Leading political
groups in the 626-member EU assembly had indicated they would support
the new Commission. Officials in the European People's Party, the

*** Anthrax sickens 42 in Georgia
TBILISI, Georgia (AP) - Forty-two people in Georgia's capital Tbilisi
have been hospitalized after being infected with the anthrax bacteria
over the last month, the Health Ministry in the former Soviet republic
said Wednesday. The government doesn't have enough vaccine to fully
protect the population, and the potentially deadly disease could
spread further, Health Ministry spokesman Dzhoni Dzhanashiya said.
Many people have stopped buying beef in Tbilisi markets because the
disease was detected among cattle in several Georgian regions,
Dzhanashiya said. The bacteria that causes anthrax is common among
livestock and can be transferred to people. It can cause skin lesions,
ulcers and respiratory difficulty, among other symptoms. The fatality
rate of anthrax varies widely according to how the bacteria is
transmitted. ###
*** KGB transmitters found in Brussels
BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - Belgian authorities, tipped off by the
British secret service, have discovered three caches with KGB radio
transmitter equipment buried in the woods outside the capital, police
said Wednesday. It was unclear when the equipment had been dug in, but
it was most likely during the height of the Cold War. The Soviet spy
agency's equipment was found 3 to 6 feet underground, said Jos Colpin,
the spokesman for the Brussels prosecutor's office. "It was only
transmitter equipment and there were no explosives," he said. One
cache was discovered close to Leuven, some 15 miles east of Brussels,
another just north and a third in the woods of Halle, some 12 miles
south of the capital. ###

Method for verifying human identity during electronic sale
transactions Abstract
A method is presented for facilitating sales transactions by
electronic media. A bar code or a design is tattooed on an individual.
Before the sales transaction can be consummated, the tattoo is scanned
with a scanner. Characteristics about the scanned tattoo are compared
to characteristics about other tattoos stored on a computer database
in order to verify the identity of the buyer. Once verified, the
seller may be authorized to debit the buyer's electronic bank account
in order to consummate the transaction. The seller's electronic bank
account may be similarly updated.

Hi-tech Kon-Tiki of research
Underwater glider tests ocean currents via remote
control
Eric Niiler
Special to The Christian Science Monitor
SAN DIEGO
Scientists have probed the oceans for decades by towing
instruments from the back of research ships or by tossing them
overboard and picking them up weeks or months later.
But a new "smart" device promises remote-control
measurement of the world's oceans: a self-propelled glider that
sails across the ocean using underwater currents and its own
changing buoyancy for propulsion.
In fact, its creators eventually hope to send it from San Diego to
Hawaii all by itself.
The Spray, a six-foot-long device resembling a cruise missile, is
designed for long-distance, long-term reconnaissance of underwater
conditions: temperature, depth, salinity, and chemical signatures that
give scientists clues about the makeup of the marine world.
The Spray is one of a new class of ocean instruments known as
autonomous underwater vehicles. These AUVs follow a
prescribed pattern in the sea and then return to a set pickup
point. They are particularly useful in measuring the properties of
ocean currents, coastal areas, or ocean dump sites. They operate for
several hours on battery power, then report their position to ship or
shore through the satellite relays and the global positioning system
(GPS).
What's different is that the Spray doesn't have a motor and so it
isn't forced to return when its batteries run down.
"It can navigate like a commercial airliner," says Jim Dufour, an
ocean engineer at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla,
Calif., who developed the Spray along with colleagues at the Woods
Hole Institution of Oceanography in Woods Hole, Mass. "It knows where
it is, where it's going to go, and it keeps track of all of its
motion."
The Spray moves through the water like a true glider. By rolling
a set of weights forward, the nose of the Spray begins to sink.
Two-foot wings and a rudder direct it forward through the
water. It also uses a gyroscope and accelerometer much like an
airplane's and makes simple turns by shifting weights from side
to side.
When it reaches a certain depth (a maximum of 1,000 meters or
3,280 feet), a canister of oil is squeezed into a rubber bladder
outside the main compartment. This changes the volume but not
the mass of the entire device.
"We're using Archimedes' principle," Mr. Dufour explains. "If
we increase the volume, the density changes." As the craft
becomes less dense than the surrounding water, it rises. The
aerodynamically shaped wings provide additional lift, just like an
airplane.
Using this relatively simple method of rising and falling, the
Spray can sail for months at a time. After it returns to the sea
surface, it rolls over on its side, and using a built-in antenna on
its wing, gets a GPS fix and sends information back home.
Scripps researchers completed final testing of the Spray last
month in the deep underwater canyons of Monterey Bay, Calif.,
where it stayed out for seven days at a time.
Funded by the US Navy, the $25,000 device will be deployed
next year to measure the California Current, which flows
southward from the Oregon-California border to Mexico.
Scientists want to study this ocean river to help predict the
success of several commercial fisheries.
The Spray took two years to develop. It is named for the
37-foot wooden sailboat that Joshua Slocum single-handedly
sailed around the world from 1895 to 1898. If all goes well,
Dufour and Russ Davis, a physical oceanographer at Scripps,
and Breck Owens, a Woods Hole oceanographer, have similar
transoceanic plans for the new Spray.
They plan to sail it from San Diego to Hawaii within two years.
Another proposal is to send it from Woods Hole to Bermuda to
study the Gulf Stream current.

*** Palestinians fulfill peace measure
JERUSALEM (AP) - The Palestinians gave Israel a list of the names of
its 30,000 police officers Wednesday, fulfilling a long-delayed
provision of peace agreements. Israel wanted the list to ensure that
officers armed by the Palestinian Authority are not involved in
anti-Israeli acts. Prime Minister Ehud Barak's office said it was
checking the names against its own databases. The handover of the
list, something Israel has demanded since the 1993 Oslo Accord, comes
as Israel and the Palestinians accelerate the fulfillment of interim
peace agreements, including the one they signed Sept. 4 at Sharm
el-Sheikh, Egypt. That agreement ended a freeze on the peace progress
that had begun during the administration of hawkish former Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. See

OAK BLUFFS, Mass. (AP) - Martha's Vineyard Hospital has increased its

Bush Says He Opposes Homosexual Marriage
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CNS) -- Often accused by opponents of being
vague on the issues, Texas Governor George Bush Tuesday
staked out his position on homosexual marriage, homosexual
adoption, and lifting the ban on homosexuals in the Boy
Scouts: he's against all three.
But Bill Horn, publisher of the pro-traditional values
newsletter Straight From the Heart, says that he'd like Bush
to answer more questions about his views on the controversial
issue of homosexuality in politics and culture.
"Governor Bush believes that marriage is between a man and a
woman and therefore does not believe in gay marriages," said
Bush's response to a series of questions from Horn, which was
released to CNSNews.com. Bush also said he "believes that
children ought to be adopted in families with a man and woman
who are married."
He added that the New Jersey Supreme Court erred when it
struck down the Scouts' ban on homosexuals serving as
scoutmasters.
"He believes the Boy Scouts is a private organization and
they should be able to set their own standards," read the
statement.
Horn called the statement a "good start," but said that he
hoped to ask the campaign several more questions on Bush's
views.
"The homosexual lobby has been touting [Bush] as one of
theirs, but obviously he's not - he doesn't support their
extreme views," Horn told CNSNews.com.
Horn hopes that Bush will answer specific questions on his
views about homosexuality in educational curricula.
Horn said that all of the Republican presidential candidates
have answered the group's questions about homosexuality
except Elizabeth Dole and Senator John McCain (R-AZ). Calls
to the McCain campaigns by CNSNews.com were not returned.
Dole spokesperson Ari Fleischer told CNSNews.com that Mrs.
Dole "doesn't answer surveys or take pledges that might tend
to put words in her mouth," but said that Dole opposes
homosexual marriage and adoption.
Fleischer also said that Dole "supports the right of private
organizations to set their own membership rules."

Someone gave me "The Prince of Egypt" video to review and I was a
bit skeptical as I stated in an earlier post (10/18/98) because so
much attention was being paid to the actors doing the voices and the
soundtrack. I was happily surprised to see that the container the
video came in does not mention anywhere the actors doing the voices
and there is just a very small line stating the soundtrack is
available; the container seems to concentrate on the movie and its
theme instead of who did what. If you skip through the commercials at
the beginning and turn off the credits at the end, you are not
bombarded by the gross performances of the songs by "superstars."
The movie itself was very true to the Bible and had very few
discrepancies. Because of this, there are many scenes that younger
children would probably find disturbing--Egyptians beating Hebrews,
death of the firstborn, etc. but overall, I think it is good family
fare. I would recommend the movie highly but definitely pan anything
to do with the soundtrack. I guess it was too close to the real story
and that's why we haven't heard much about it since the first
promos (which were misleading). This is a movie about the great I AM
and how He delivered His people from their oppressors through His
chosen vessel, Moses. Refreshing!
P.S. The survey card that came with the movie asks "Would you be
interested in purchasing a full-length animated video based on the
story of Joseph?" I hope DreamWorks Home Entertainment gets a
resounding "YES" to that query!

VISION OF GREATLY EXPANDED EU FROM NEW COMMISSION PRESIDENT
ROMANO PRODI September 15, 1999
The London Times reported today: Romano Prodi outlined his
vision yesterday of a bold new European Union of as many as
30 states, as the European Parliament prepared to give his
chosen team of commissioners its overwhelming approval this
morning. In a sweeping eve-of-office speech to
the 626 MEPs, the incoming Commission President promised enlargement,
glasnost, economic revitalization and radical reform to restore public
confidence in the "European ideal." "What we now need to build is a
union of hearts and minds, underpinned by a strong shared sentiment of
a common destiny - a sense of common European citizenship," Signor
Prodi declared in an address that used the word "new" at least 20
times. "We come from different countries. We speak different
languages. We have different historical and cultural traditions, and
we must preserve them. But we are seeking a shared identity - a new
European soul."...His most radical proposals concerned EU
enlargement, as he suggested that membership could expand to 30
states over the next quarter century. He proposed setting dates for
the next batch of entrants at December's Helsinki summit, granting
other applicants "virtual membership" and developing "strategic
partnerships" with Russia and Ukraine..."
INSURANCE CLAIMS OVER Y2K PREPAREDNESS MAY BE HUGE September
15, 1999
Wired News reported: Welcome to the eye of a new hurricane,
the raging debate over whether the sue and labor clause, born
of ancient maritime law but still included in most property
policies, should cover the hundreds of
billions of dollars that corporations have spent preparing
to weather Y2K. Companies say yes, insurers, no. Third-party
experts say, maybe. In a nutshell, the sue and labor clause
says that insurers will pay for steps
policyholders take to protect property in the face of imminent
danger from an unforeseen peril. Insurers would rather shell
out a few pennies for preventive measures than big bucks for
damage. Should sue and labor cover Y2K? "It's not a crazy claim
for companies to make," said David Leebron,
dean of Columbia University Law School. With billions of dollars at
stake, many companies figure that, if it's not crazy, it's worth a
shot. "This is big news," said Matthew Jacob's, a partner at
Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, a law firm that in March filed suit on behalf
of Xerox, which is trying to recoup US$183 million in Y2K remediation
costs from its insurer, American Guarantee. "There are going to be
billions and billions of dollars in claims." Over the spring and
summer, 20 other companies have filed suits against their insurers for
a total of $10 billion in claims. Dozens of further suits are pending.
Claims could ultimately top $150 billion, say lawyers for
policyholders..."
RUSSIA TORMENTED BY ARAB WARLORD September 15, 1999
Associated Press reported: The Arab warlord Khattab sports
a flowing black beard, long frizzy hair, a nasty scar on his
left forearm-and a fast-growing reputation as the most dreaded
man in Russia. Khattab, who uses only one
name, is a mysterious figure who leads Islamic militants battling
Russian troops in the southern territory of Dagestan. And some
officials now believe he's the key to ending the string of explosions
that has killed more than 250 people in Russia over the past two
weeks. The latest explosion, a blast Monday, left more than 115 people
dead at a Moscow apartment building. "From now on, we will not only
fight against Russian fighter jets (and) tanks," Khattab told The
Associated Press..."From now on, they will get our bombs everywhere.
Let Russia await our explosions blasting through their cities. I swear
we will do it," he said...On Tuesday, however, he struck a different
tone, telling the Interfax news agency in the Chechen capital, Grozny,
that he had nothing to do with the Moscow attacks...Some Russian
officials claim that Khattab, a native of either Saudi Arabia or
Jordan, works with Osama bin Laden, the multi-millionaire Saudi
accused of waging a terror campaign against Western targets...This
possible international dimension has prompted Russia to appeal to the
United States and other Western countries for anti-terrorism
expertise..."
Arafat hires all 199 newly-released terrorists to serve in PA
security forces
Weekend News Today
By Andra Brack

Wed Sep 15,1999 -- Yassir Arafat's PA has recruited into its
security forces all of the 199 terrorist prisoners
released by Israel last week. The Oslo accords [Cairo Agreement, May
1994, Annex I, Article 3, par.4-b) require Arafat to submit lists of
potential police officers to Israel for approval before hiring them,
so that Israel can screen out any known terrorists. Arafat has
repeatedly ignored this Oslo requirement. According to Middle East
Newsline correspondent Mohammed Najib (Sept. 14, 1999), "Palestinian
sources said all of the 199 released terrorists on Thursday were
absorbed in PA security forces and were handed weapons' in order to
protect themselves', a PA source said. On Tuesday, PA Radio confirmed
the report."
Morton A. Klein, National President of the Zionist Organization
of America (ZOA) urged the Clinton administration to demand
that Arafat "stop rewarding murderers with positions in
the Palestinian Authority security forces." General Security
Services (GSS/ Shin-Bet) chief Ami Ayalon told the Israeli
Cabinet on June 6, 1999, that "many fugitives had been given
posts in the PA police and security forces," and that "some
of these posts include senior commands." Referring to the 45
fugitive terrorists whom Israel has asked the PA to hand
over for prosecution, Ayalon said that some had been detained
by the PA police, but " They have been allowed to
Arafat Hires All 199 Released Terrorists leave for extended
furloughs" and were only returned to jail "after
Israeli protests."
Israeli Justice Minister Tzahi Hanegbi revealed on January
22, 1997 that "many of the terrorists wanted by
Israel are serving in senior positions in the Palestinian Authority,"
"the positions assigned to the perpetrators and organizers of a given
terrorist crime are in direct proportion to the amount of victims
killed in the attack."

ISRAEL HAS ALREADY AGREED -- Good morning and Gmar Hatimah
Tovah (may you be inscribed for a good life). [This week] marked the
start of the final-status talks between Israel and the terrorists,
with great fanfare and celebration, at the Erez Checkpoint in Gaza.

the subjects to be discussed, since Israel has already conceded them:
the fate of the settlements, and the Palestinian state. For Barak and
his ministers have already announced their willingness to uproot most
of the settlements, as well as their consent to the establishment of a
Palestinian state. The two issues are inter-connected: as long as most
of the Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria (Yesha) continue to
exist, a Palestinian state can neither be established nor maintain
itself. Palestine and the settlements are mutually exclusive.
Barak must uproot at least most of the Jewish settlement enterprise,
if not its entirety, in order to pave the way for a Palestinian state,
which is set to be created on the ruins of the former. This may have
been Barak's intention when he recently talked about the need to "part
from sections of our homeland."
FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ABRAHAM -- This "parting," however,
is a historic milestone, the likes of
which have not been seen since the days of our Patriarch Abraham. Up
until now, even after the withdrawals of the past six years of Oslo,
we have not permanently parted from our Land. According to the interim
agreement, even Area A - that which is totally controlled by Arafat -
is still formally under the auspices of the Israeli military
government. Arafat has received authorities and powers there, true,
but the Oslo Agreement clearly states that " the outcome of the
permanent status negotiations borders, among other issues - "should
not be prejudiced or preempted by agreements reached for the interim
period." We are still entitled to claim all Judea and Samaria, and
even Gaza.
The fateful step in which Israel, Heaven forbid, will sign
away parts of its Land - has not yet been
taken. The wise men of Oslo left this for Barak. And here we
see a most amazing thing: Throughout the world,
there is almost not a single square centimeter that is void
of sovereignty - except for Yesha. It's as if it was
desired, from Heaven, that the Jewish People be left with the
option of reclaiming its Land.
THE HOME OF NO ONE ELSE -- How did this happen? From the day
that we were exiled from our Land, it
was never the homeland of any other people. It was rather always part
of one empire or another - the Babylonian, Roman, Byzantine,
Ottoman-Turkish, British, etc. Only in this century, did the world
again wake up to the realization that it is in truth the homeland of
the Jewish People, just like France is French. The League of Nations
entrusted the land to the British as a temporary deposit; the mandate
specifically mentioned "the historic connection between the Jewish
People and the Land of Israel, and its right to re-establish there its
national home." The mandate instructed the British to allow Jewish
immigration there.
In 1948, the British departed, and left a vacuum, which was
filled as follows: The State of Israel was formed in
what was later known as "within the Green Line;" a Hashemite
monarchy was established on the eastern side of
the Jordan River; the Gaza Strip was captured - but not annexed
- by Egypt, which installed only a military
government there; Judea and Samaria and eastern Jerusalem were
annexed by Jordan, which was never recognized by our Supreme
Court, and which in any event was canceled by Jordan itself
in 1988.
Part 2: For the first time since Abraham

Wed Sep 15,1999 -- THE OWNERS HESITATED - AND ARE ABOUT TO
LEAVE? -- Thus, Yesha remained in an international vacuum -
a vacuum which was simply an invitation for its long-time
historic owners to reclaim it. But the owners hesitated and
stalled, and since Oslo, have been evacuating room after room.
Moreover, in about a year from now, according to the Wye-Sharm
time frame, the owner is scheduled to transfer
the entire ownership of the land to a foreign nation. This
will mean that for the first time since the days of
Yehoshua Bin-Nun, a foreign nation will have sovereignty in
parts of Eretz Yisrael.
The British, or the Turks, or anyone else, have no right to
transfer the land to the Palestinians - only
the true owners, the Jews, can do this. In this way, we have
reached this hair-raising absurdity, that
has not allowed me to rest for several years now. WE LEFT -
BUT NEVER WILLINGLY During the course of the long Exile, there
was no way for the Jews to give away their Land. I have
asked rabbis: Would it have been possible for any community,
or rabbi, or Moses, or Maimonides, to give away the Land
of Israel in the name of the Jewish Nation? The answer as no.
But the Jews finally found a way to be able to do this: With
blood, sweat, and tears, they returned to the Land, built a
State, and now they have the proper mechanism, a
recognized authority, to cede away the Land.
This can be phrased in a different way: The Nation of Israel
was exiled from its Land, but never parted
from it. This mission seems to have been left to the Barak
government. We always returned to the
Land, and if we couldn't live there, we at least requested
to be buried there. We never parted from
the Land in our dreams, on our holidays, in our prayers - our
entire national and cultural existence
revolved around the Land. Now between Rosh HaShanah and Yom
Kippur, let our rabbis teach us: Is it permitted for the State
to cede its Land? Is it permitted for Torah-observant Jews
in the government, the Knesset, the Civil Administration, the
army - to take part in the transfer of parts of
the Holy Land to a foreign nation, and to take part in nullifying the
Covenant Between the Pieces?
Or is it that even the State of Israel is not authorized to
part with the Land, and its decisions to do so will not
obligate the Jewish Nation - neither those Jews who live here,
nor those who reside in the Diaspora? If this is
true, then what will be the fate of a nation that does in fact
uproot itself from its past and its roots? We will
discuss this subject again, for it is at the essence of our
very existence.
Syria close to deploying 'Suped Scud'
Weekend News Today

Wed Sep 15,1999 -- Israeli sources reported yesterday that
Syria is six-months to a year away from deploying
the Scud-C class missile, enabling the rogue state to target
all of Israel with biological or chemical warheads. The
Scud-C, which has an estimated range of some 500 kilometers,
has reportedly garnered the highest priority in
Syria's military program. Damascus has worked closely with
Iran in developing the missile, with the latter
providing technical and financial support. Syria, despite its
difficult financial situation, has invested a tremendous
amount of capital into the project; one source said the project's
funds are "unlimited."
"It is a constant effort to advance and develop their surface-to-surfa
capabilities all the time," said the source. Syria is making other
military preparations, reinforcing its missile silos and taking other
steps to protect its missile launchers from attack. Some Israeli
commanders have recently declared Syria's army to be a paper tiger,
but the source advised to guard against complacency with Syria, as a
war with it would definitely "make us bleed". According to the source,
Syrian President Assad is the only leader in the region who is
actively training to carry out a surprise attack, though Israeli
intelligence believes Syria will not exercise that option.

Chairman of Disney International, Michael Eisner, on Monday to ensure
that no changes will be made to the Israel pavilion at the Epcot
Millennium Village. In his letter, Bentsur stressed the fact that
Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of Israel.

GORE CHANGES HER TUNE ON MUSIC
Tipper Gore, who over a decade ago led a crusade to require warning
labels on raunchy rock records, now has severed her ties with this
and has apologized to West Coast entertainment executives in a
private meeting with her husband (8/22 H. Times). Her switch has
helped husband Al Gore, who has raised more funds from the
entertainment industry than any other presidential candidate this
year. [She also recently helped raise big funds for the political
coffers at a gay-lesbian fund raiser- 7-8/99 Fund. Digest.]
WHAT DOES 'GOOD' MEAN?
Recently, Hillary R. Clinton described her philandering [lying,
adulterous] husband as a "good husband and father." (8/21 World)
Luciana Morad, the mother of rock singer Mick Jagger's latest
illegitimate child, told Europe's Hello magazine that, even though
Mr. Jagger has yet to meet his 4-month-old son, he is a "very loving
father." [See Isaiah 5:20]
CHINA POISED TO TAKE CONTROL OF CANAL
Red China is now in position to take control of the world's most
strategic waterway, the Panama Canal, after the U.S. turns it over to
Panama Dec. 31, 1999. The Carter-Torrijos Treaties were fatally
flawed, and a fraud. The ones signed by Panama were radically
different from the ones our Senate ratified. To get Senate
ratification Pres. Carter had to accede to the DeConcini Reservation,
and Panama refused to include this in their version (8/2 New Amer.).
This is all another example of our leaders betraying us to godless
communism. The 8/9 USN&WR said more drugs are already entering Panama
and that when our soldiers leave, traffickers could have a field day.

GRAHAM'S DISOBEDIENT MINISTRY
The following is a summary of warnings by O Timothy Editor David
Cloud (1701 Harns Rd., Oak Harbor, WA 98277) against Billy Graham's
teachings and practices. [The complete article is under the
Evangelical section of the topical database at the Way of Life Web
site -- http://wayoflife.org/~dcloud ] Graham accepts degrees from
Catholic colleges and says the Catholic gospel is the same as his
own. He has turned thousands of converts over to apostate churches.
He thinks the pope is an evangelist and moral leader. He invites
Catholic bishops onto his platform to bless those who come forward at
his invitations. He thinks a miracle happens in infant baptism. He
does not believe hell is a place of literal fiery torment. He allows
that unsaved pagans will not go to hell. He praises Christ-denying
Modernists. He promotes "perverted Bible versions." He says the
virgin birth is not a necessary part of the Christian faith. He
refuses to defend the Bible as the inerrant Wordof God. He agrees
with heretic Robert Schuller's false definitions of the gospel. He
says theology no longer means anything to him. He does not emphasize
salvation through the blood of Christ. [He joins with the apostates
instead of separating from them-see 2 Chr. 19:2]
