Subject: [BPR] - Mohler predicts 'cultural chaos' from homosexuality

Mohler, on Larry King, predicts 'cultural chaos' from
homosexuality
By Tim Ellsworth
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP)--Homosexuality is a moral problem with
destructive possibilities, but one that may be overcome by God's
grace, said R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., on CNN's "Larry King
Live" television show Aug. 30.
"I believe that homosexuality is one of the greatest moral
challenges facing this nation," Mohler said. "The decisions we
make on this issue are going to shape the future of our country.
We will either order our society by God's law, or contravene that law
and face the consequences.
"But the last word has to be that in the grace of the Lord Jesus
Christ there is the means of overcoming all sin, including the
sin of homosexuality," Mohler continued. "And so that last word
has to be a word of grace and hope."
The specific topic for the show was homosexuals in the military.
Steve May, a first lieutenant in the Army Reserves who also is a
Republican in the Arizona House of Representatives, was King's
studio guest.
May, an outspoken homosexual, came under investigation by the
U.S. Army for violating the "don't ask, don't tell" policy
concerning homosexuals in the military after he argued for the
adoption of domestic partner benefits on the floor of the Arizona
House.
Other guests included Tammy Baldwin, a Wisconsin Democrat in the
U.S. House of Representatives and a lesbian; Bob Barr, a Georgia
Republican in the U.S. House; and tennis legend Martina
Navratilova, also a lesbian.
While May, Baldwin and Navratilova argued that homosexuals should be
allowed to serve in the military, Mohler and Barr disagreed. "There is
widespread belief among Americans that [homosexuality] is
fundamentally wrong and has no place in the military," Mohler said.
"It is sound military policy. It is sound moral policy that
homosexuals should not serve in the military."
The "don't ask, don't tell" policy in place is a "lowest Clinton
denominator" policy, Mohler said, because that's all Clinton
could get. "In 1991, candidate Bill Clinton said that if elected
he would be for homosexuals what Harry Truman was in terms of the race
issue," Mohler said. "The only reason we have a don't ask, don't tell
policy is because President Clinton was unable, given the opposition
in the armed forces and in the population at large, to push through
his first agenda."
King asked Mohler directly why he didn't think someone like May
should be allowed into the U.S. armed forces. Mohler said it was
May's homosexual behavior which disqualified him, adding this
issue "is one more example of how the homosexual agenda has been
literally intrusive into almost every dimension of American life. And
here the military, which is supposed to be about defending our country
and to be about military goals and military means, is having to deal
with an issue where there are some whose agenda has tried to force the
armed services into being about social work and social change."
Later, Mohler cited the testimony of military authorities as a
reason why homosexuals should not be in the armed forces.
"The military has said that there is the priority of unit
cohesion, which is absolutely essential in warfare," Mohler said. "It
is ... the consensus of military authorities who have said that
homosexuality intrudes into that and violates that in a way that they
feel would hamper our military effectiveness."
But the discussion didn't stop with the issue of gays in the
military and included some comments about homosexuality in
general. King asked Mohler if he thought sexuality was a choice,
to which the Southern president responded in the affirmative.
"I don't believe anyone is born a homosexual," Mohler said. "I
believe that God's creative intention was that we be created man
and woman and to be related to each other in a heterosexual
fashion."
Navratilova took exception to Mohler's remarks. "How do you know? How
do you know?" she asked. "I didn't choose this." She said she acted on
"feelings," and that her feelings made her homosexuality right.
"I believe feelings are the result also of a sinful inclination,"
Mohler responded. "And that's something I know that some persons have
to really struggle to overcome. But I also believe in God's grace,
that can [be] and is overcome."
Navratilova asked Mohler how it could be sinful to love another
individual and have that love be returned. "What is wrong with
that?" she asked.
Mohler said the first issue is God's revelation that
homosexuality is wrong. He added that nearly every civilization
in history has concurred with that assessment.
"We rightly privilege heterosexual relationships, and it has been that
way throughout human civilization," he said. "The result of embracing
the homosexual lifestyle is cultural chaos, the breakdown of our
entire moral order. It may be popular, but it is not going to work."
At the show's end, King asked whether Mohler loved homosexuals.
"Yes, we're told to love the sinner and to hate the sin," Mohler
said. "And the first act of really loving someone is to tell them the
truth. And we believe that Scripture reveals the truth about
homosexuality, and it is an act of love to tell people what God has
said about that sin."

Subject: [BPR] - Battle for biblical accuracy necessary

Patterson: Battle for biblical inerrancy was necessary for
millions of lost people
By Byron McMillan
WAKE FOREST, N.C. (BP)--The battle waged in the Southern Baptist
Convention over the inerrancy and infallibility of Scripture
wasn't about defending the claims of the Bible, Paige Patterson
recounted, but about securing its trustworthiness for a world in
desperate need of the message of God's redeeming grace.
"Friend, it is as logical as it can be, if we do not have a more
sure word of prophecy from the Word of God, if we do not have the Word
of the Lord, infallible and inerrant and absolutely trustworthy, then
nobody, nobody, nobody who's ever lived, nobody who lives now, nobody
who will ever live, has an answer that will tell us how to get to God
for sure," Patterson said Aug. 26 at Southeastern Baptist Theological
Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C.
"My concern is not defending the Bible for its own sake,"
Patterson said in a chapel message. "It needs no defense. My
concern is to defend the Bible on behalf of the millions of lost
people out there who will be deceived if we don't tell them the
truth and make a case for the accuracy and reliability of God's
Word."
Preempting attacks from critics, Patterson, president of the
Southern Baptist Convention and Southeastern Seminary, asked
rhetorically, "How could fallible men have written infallible
truth? How could errant men have written inerrant truth?"
The answer, he replied, is found in 2 Peter 1:21: "For prophecy
never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they
were moved by the Holy Spirit."
"Now ladies and gentlemen, make no mistake about it, the Word of
God which you hold in your hand is the infallible and inerrant
Word of God," Patterson said. "If it is not so, if it is not
true, then the postmoderns are all exactly right, and you can't
know anything for sure, and your perception of things is as good
as anybody else's, and your community's as good as anybody
else's.
"But dear friend, we do have a more certain word of prophecy,"
Patterson said, "and may it ever be known in Southeastern Baptist
Theological Seminary that this is a training school for those who are
unalterably convinced that God has spoken in eternity past and borne
his holy prophets along so that we may know all that God intends for
us to know about who he is and what he's up to in our world."
While acknowledging that the "heart of Christianity is the
incarnation and atonement and resurrection of our Lord Jesus
Christ," Patterson said that defending the truthfulness and
authority of Scripture is necessary because of God's warning in 2
Peter 3:16 that "some things [in the Bible] are hard to understand
which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction."
"The Bible is a difficult book," Patterson said. "It is simple in the
way that it lights the way to God, but it is profound in that it is
attempting to explain, in human language, that which is not capable of
being put into human language or thought.
"You will never put your arms around much of Scripture, you will
never succeed, I don't care who you are, in bridging the gap
between the electing providences of God on the one hand, and the
responsibility of man on the other," Patterson said. "There are
mysteries like that of the Trinity, though we struggle with it,
do everything we can to understand it, and so forth and so on,
that we do not comprehend."
Patterson said that although the Bible, as the revelation of God, is
equally inspired by the Holy Spirit from beginning to end, not all of
its books are equal in importance in revealing God's message of
salvation.
For example, Patterson suggested that the New Testament Book of
Romans is more important than Song of Songs in the Old Testament
and likewise the Gospel of John more important than the Book of
Ecclesiastes when it comes to revealing God's gift of salvation.
"But the inspiration is plenary; that is, all of them are equally
inspired of God," Patterson said. "And not only that the inspiration
of Scripture is verbal, it is not merely a matter of some ideas that
are inspired, but the very language itself of Scripture, the very
choice of those words is inspired of God."
Therefore, Patterson said, the overarching purpose of Scripture
"is forever to glorify God and to lead to the conversion of those who
are his handiwork."
To that end, Patterson challenged Southeastern students to make
the most of their educational opportunity.
"May God help us to study more diligently than those who would
twist [God's Word], and may God help us to tell the story of
God's revelation and his redeeming grace as long as the tongue
can move," Patterson concluded.

Device filters profanity from TV, videos, cable, satellite
By Sharon Harper
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--Watching popular movies and television
programs without the threat of a profane word ruining your fun
may sound like a miracle in today's culture, but recall the Red
Sea parted and the whale swallowed Jonah.
A new invention being sold in LifeWay Christian Stores replaces
offensive audio and is helping heal a raw nerve with families and
churches fed up with entertainment unfit for their children's ears.
Curse Free TV is a small computer that filters curse words from
television, separate videocassette recorders, satellite dishes
and cable box devices. While not a perfect method to safeguarding what
children see and hear, it blocks profanity and other objectionable
language, including taking the name of God in vain, from most network
programs and videos.
It also eclipses traditional Christian product lines since it
works from a moral standpoint anyone can appreciate, religious or
otherwise.
Gary Loftin, manager of the LifeWay Christian Store in Knoxville,
Tenn., told a Knoxville News Sentinel reporter that requests for the
curse word censor are far-reaching and second only to calls about
upcoming installments of the top-selling "Left Behind" fiction series
by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.
Loftin has sold the $149.95 box to buyers as far away as Idaho
Falls, Idaho, and Corpus Christi, Texas. After he was pictured
with the product in newspapers across the nation, calls poured in --
many from television station managers whose viewers wanted more
information.
"This is really an item for Christians, Muslims, basically
everyone," Loftin told the Sentinel. "What family wants their
8-year-old to hear filth?"
That was the situation facing Dewey Plaster from Idaho Falls.
With children ages 10, 6 and 2, Plaster and his wife, both Sunday
school teachers, were frustrated with the foul language heard far too
frequently, including network television.
"After we had our first child, we realized how quick they are to
pick up words," Plaster added. "And some television shows you
think are safe for children to watch really aren't.
"It's nice to sit with the kids in front of the TV and not worry
that they're going to hear something bad," Plaster said. "We want to
set the right example for our kids. Our prayers have been answered."
Curse Free TV President Jonas Robertson helped develop the device to
search hidden close-captioning text for more than 100 offensive words.
Once the word is detected, the box momentarily mutes the sound and
replaces it with acceptable words and phrases. For instance, Curse
Free TV replaces 21 offensive words in "Mrs. Doubtfire" and 32 in
"Kindergarten Cop." The occasional slip-up occurs during live
programming when closed captioning is not available or when closed
caption text is misspelled.
Unlike the V-chip, which totally blocks an R-rated program and
doesn't work with video movies, the profanity-censoring device
cleans up R-rated language. Parents must continue to show
caution, however, with nudity and violent images.
Curse Free TV is available in 82 LifeWay Christian Stores across
the country and at its Internet store at www.lifewaystores.com.

Rabbis refused to let the body of a Messianic Jew be buried in a
Jewish cemetery in Toronto. Malvern Jacobs put his faith in Jesus
Christ and became a minister 40 years ago, the Evangelical Fellowship
of Canada said. He died in June at age 71. ...As Jacobs' body was
being transported from a funeral home to a Jewish cemetery, Toronto's
three major rabbinical associations made a ruling refusing to allow
him to be buried. When the funeral procession arrived, 400 mourners
found the gates locked. Jacobs' son said he will seek a legal ruling
to have his father buried in the cemetery.

Dear Karen,
With September right around the corner, I'm starting to get
concerned about the things I've been hearing about the "99"
problem. What do you think? Will things really start to happen
then? I'd really appreciate your opinion.
Thanks,
Nancy
Dear Nancy,
Great question! As I've said before, like everybody else, I
don't have a clue what's going to happen but here is what I
think you should watch for - especially on TV!
First, I think you should watch for misinformation.
Although I very rarely watch TV (I figure there are better ways
to kill brain cells!) I have to admit that I will turn it on
once in a while when I'm in a hotel room, so last night I
watched the program "Touched by an Angel." It was the story of
a hurting young woman who was taken in by the lures of a cult.
The cult leader had all his followers agree to kill themselves
before Y2K (they even had the poisoned grape kool-aid similar
to the Jim Jones massacre). I was aghast - especially when I
heard one of the characters refer to the coming disaster of the
"Four Nines" - 9/9/99. They stated that this was the "universal
code for all the computers in the world to shut down" and we
wouldn't have to wait until December 31 to see the end of
civilization.
I've never set myself up as a technology expert (that's my
husband's job) but from what I understand (I also checked with
Steve) that comment is just not true. What they are referring
to is when, on September 9, 1999, the numeric reading will be
9/9/99 (or 9999). There are some old computer programs where
9999 was used to signify an inactive or dead record. So will
there be some problems with some computers? Possibly - but not
everything is going to stop all at once.
Second, I think you should watch out for how the media in
general portrays people who are concerned.
In the "Touched by an Angel" show, the people concerned with
Y2K were portrayed as vulnerable, mindless cult members who
would poison themselves and their children over what they
thought might happen with Y2K. I guess the intent was to be so
extreme that you would then assume that anybody in their right
mind would not be concerned.
Still, are there vulnerable people who might be lured into
doing something stupid? Absolutely. But hopefully, by looking
at the reasonable, logical reasons it makes sense to prepare
for any emergency - we can minimize the fears that some people
have. I believe that if we work in our communities and
neighborhoods to encourage other "normal" people to prepare, we
can make a huge difference in any negative impact that might
occur. (That's why I believe it is important in your
preparation plans to prepare for your family and a little bit
more - there will be others in need. We may not be able to feed
the whole world, but if we all do our part, we can help those
who are legitimately in need.)
During the course of the evening, I saw three or four
commercials that featured things about Y2K "hysteria." One was
a KIA car commercial that showed some guy digging a hole in his
back yard. At the end, the guys hits a fuel line that explodes
and then they tell you that Y2K really stand for "Yes To KIA."
Then there was a Life Savers Candy commercial that said Life
Savers were not Y2K compliant and they wanted you to call a
number and vote for the candy flavor of your choice (I didn't
quite get that one).
Third, I think you should watch for double-sided information.
Listen to this. The American Bankers Association is
distributing a "Y2K Sermon" they had written for pastors and
rabbis to be delivered to their congregations.
http://www.charlotte.com/banking/docs/0816sermon.htm
In this sermon they use as a reference the old Orson Wells
radio program where some people (who didn't hear the beginning
of the broadcast where they explained that this was a drama)
thought that the world had, in fact, been invaded by aliens
from outer space. The poor folks panicked and did all sorts of
foolish things.
The problem I have with this is, again, they make it seem like
it is crazy to prepare, however, the sermon goes on to tell
people to do just that...
"Is it wise to have a little extra food on hand? Sure. Some
bottled water? Perhaps. Some cash? Well, it is a long holiday
weekend. Most experts say there won't be food or water
shortages on January 1, 2000. They suggest that families lay in
a few days supply of food and water, just in case."
Given that, it may seem strange that you don't see commercials
making fun of people for buying life insurance, auto insurance
or medical insurance. In fact, most of the commercials you see
try and convey the peace of mind you get when you have
insurance.
You don't see them making fun of people who take a CPR course.
You don't see them making fun of couples who take a childbirth
class to enhance the birth experience by being prepared for
what is to happen. In fact, you don't see newscasters making
fun of people along the coast who are preparing for possible
severe problems with hurricanes.
Why? Because most people realize that the best way to be
responsible and prudent is to be prepared.
You will hear me say over and over again that the point of
preparedness is to be able to handle any emergency - Y2K or
otherwise. I think that reports will be schizophrenic over
the next few months where like the Bank Sermon, (who would have
ever thought that bankers would write a sermon!!) you will hear
that "Y2K is no big deal" while telling people to "get prepared
just in case."
Again, what is the risk of being prepared vs. the risk of not
being prepared? I'd rather have insurance, know CPR and have
taken prepared childbirth classes than need the insurance and
not have it, have someone I love have a heart attack and not
know how to help them, or have had my children not knowing what
to expect (I still remember that "fear of the unknown" when I
had my first child!).
To me, the risk of not being prepared seems much greater. My
point is that I think in the coming months, many of us who have
discovered the benefits of being prepared are going to be
ridiculed - and sometimes by those we care about most.
So try and keep your "Noah perspective." Remember, they laughed
at Noah when he built the Ark. But what if God had changed His
mind right as the Ark was finished? I believe it wouldn't have
mattered to Noah. He would have been okay because he knew he
was doing what he was supposed to do and that was all that
mattered.

KA: When the rubber meets the road, I believe the only way we
can effectively deal with the Y2K problem is by working
together. That's why the role of the church in helping people
in need (physically, emotionally and spiritually) is so vitally
important in the coming months.
When I was writing my book, I prayerfully considered who I
wanted to have write the Foreword. The answer was clear:
Shaunti Feldhahn, author of "Y2K: The Millennium Bug - A Balanced
Christian Response"
<http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1576734706/y2kwomen>
Why? To me, there is a natural and wonderful relationship
between individual families and churches. Churches are made up
of families and families are the core of the church. However,
as a mom, I can't be working up at my church helping the needy
if my own family is cold and hungry. My responsibility is first
to my family and then to others. That's why I was motivated to
help individual families prepare for possible problems with Y2K
- I knew that my own family had to come first before I could be
freed up to help others (Don't take that too literally! I
realize there is a balance between taking care of your own
family and taking care of others. I also know that I don't have
to be 100% prepared at home before I can help others - but you
get the general principle!).
So I urge you, if you haven't heard about the Joseph Project
2000, please check out their web site and then see if there is
a way you might become involved or support them. Time is
running out and they have great resources for your own churches
and communities.
Here's a little bit about Joseph Project 2000...
The Joseph Project 2000 seeks to prevent and respond to the
potential impacts of the Year 2000 computer problem, economic
downturns, natural disasters, or any other community crisis in
a biblically balanced and professional manner, glorifying God
in all we do.
Our mission is to express our love for God and our neighbor
through Christian servant leadership, mobilizing the Church
toward service and witness as we ready our homes, churches,
businesses, and communities for the difficult times ahead.
Seven Step Strategy
1. Gather a group of believers who will faithfully pray for
God's guidance, wisdom and discernment in establishing and
carrying out the work of the local JP2000 Chapter, as well as
Headquarters.
2. Organize a cross-denominational, ethnically and culturally
representative group of Christian leaders who will provide
leadership in the local JP2000 Chapter and community.
3. Develop a coalition of local churches who are willing to
partner with the JP2000 Chapter in emergency preparedness, love
and service to their communities.
4. Sponsor local Community Awareness and Preparedness Event to
inform area residents of the Year 2000 issue, using it as a
catalyst to offer practical ways to prepare and respond, and
launch church-led community action in any crisis.
5. Establish ongoing task forces and meetings to address
specific areas of vulnerability and serve as a central
emergency resource for communities.
6. Partner with local church coalition, businesses, charitable,
civic, and interested government organizations in Y2K/emergency
preparedness and contingency planning, emphasizing particularly
the needs of vulnerable communities.
7. Encourage individuals and communities to respond in faith
not fear, to prudently prepare not panic, and to above all
trust in our Sovereign God's abiding love, grace, and mercy to
ultimately sustain us.

Subject: Number 8
I was reading through your article on the number 8 and the
temple in regards to worship and found a fascinating little
nugget because of it.
When reading about the 7 steps up to the outer court, which
represents the law and Old Testament system, then through that
to the 8 steps up to the inner court, that is the presence of
God. It is explained that 7 steps lead from labour to rest, and
8 steps from rest to worship.
In the midst of this I was wondering what Heb. 8.8 is. Hebrews
is a book all about the meaning of the tabernacle and law in the
light of New Testament revelation. So in looking it up I found
that it starts a passage about covenant:
Heb 8. 8-12 Because finding fault with them, He says:
"Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a
new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of
Judah-- 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their
fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out
of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My
covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. 10 For this is
the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after
those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and
write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they
shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbour,
and none his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for all shall
know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For
I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and
their lawless deeds I will remember no more."
I found it interesting that in the New Testament book of Rest
(Hebrews) the 8th chapter and the 8th verse begin a wonderful
quote from Jeremiah 31 about the new covenant of the Lord for
His people. He explains about the law being put into the hearts
of the people and that now one will even need to tell people to
'Know the Lord' because it will already be so.
The temple Solomon built was per David directions. In my
opinion this temple was David dream of a place for true worship
before God in a grander way than the Tabernacle of Moses had to
offer. David had learned about the grace and love of having a
personal relationship with the Lord. He was beyond the ritual
sacrificial system of the Law. David still obeyed the Law, he
was simply a step up (pardon the pun) from it. The Tabernacle of
David is a picture in the Old Testament of the true worship
which the church has the ability to take full advantage of
today. Asking God to create in us a clean heart and to renew a
steadfast spirit in his people. And to do this by coming to
Jesus the great High Priest. When he came the first time he
fulfilled Amos 9.11,12. Quoted here in Acts 15.15-17:
"And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is
written: 16 'After this I will return and will rebuild the
tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its
ruins, and I will set it up; 17 so that the rest of mankind may
seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by Mr name,
says the Lord who does all these things.'"
For a fascinating study on the Tabernacle of David pick up 'The
Tabernacle of David' by Kevin J. Connor.

Is Russia planning Mideast attack?
Joseph de Courcy, editor of the well-respected journal
Intelligence Digest reports this week: "While NATO congratulates
itself on bombing the Serbs into submission, Israel's Mossad and
other Middle Eastern intelligence sources have discovered that
Kosovo was one humiliation too many for Russia. Now Moscow has
agreed to back Saddam's secret plan of revenge. With this all-
important Russian backing, Saddam is joining with hated Iran and
Syria to launch one final war against Israel. Amazingly, Saddam
will allow Iranian troops to cross Iraqi territory to join the
attack on Israel. And to keep America from interfering, Moscow
has given Osama bin Laden and other terrorists the means to
attack American population centers with weapons of mass
destruction. The threat is real ... and the implications
terrifying. ..."
These are not the rantings of some self-proclaimed geo-
strategic analyst. Joseph de Courcy is one of the most well-
respected intelligence journalists in the world.
His report is nothing short of shocking. Yet it confirms and
supports the research being done by WorldNetDaily's J.R.
Nyquist, author of "Origins of the Fourth World War." I believe,
based on trends obvious to anyone capable of picking up a daily
newspaper today (online or off) that there is an excellent
chance Russia and/or China may embark on a major military
adventure before 2001.
Why? There is almost no chance America will be weaker
militarily than it is right now during the remainder of the
Clinton administration. We've hit rock bottom -- deliberately,
because of the conscious policies of a president who is un-
American to the core and who would sell out the memory of his
own dead mother if he thought there were an opportunity for even
momentary political gain.
Unless some equally unpatriotic, characterless leader hell-bent
on national suicide is selected to be commander in chief, the
military is bound to at least recover some ground lost during
the last seven years.
Jane's Air Defense reports next month that a mock battle
between U.S. Air Force fighters and Israeli Defense Forces
aircraft resulted in a one-sided rout. More than 200 U.S. planes
were lost in the simulation while the Israeli pilots lost about
20. The Israelis are good, but they're not THAT good. U.S.
military standards have plummeted in the politically correct
Clinton years.
Nevertheless, while there are fewer resources for materiel,
ammunition, strategic weapons and training, there has been a
tenfold increase in the demand for deployments during this era
in which the U.S. military has been redefined as the police
force of the world.
Yeah, if there were ever an opportunity to surprise the U.S.
when its defenses are down, this is it. Not since Pearl Harbor
has America been less prepared for existing threats.
The Russians and the Chinese are not stupid. They can clearly
see that they may never have a better chance than they have
right now to strike a decisive blow to the United States -- a
knockout punch from which we may never recover.
Any such designs would almost certainly include an adventure
into the Middle East so that the oil fields could be secured,
thus effectively shoring up sagging industrial economies for the
long term and depriving what remains of the West from any hope
of recovery.
You could argue, as some have, that China's best chance has not
yet come. It is still emerging as a world economic and military
power, they say. Its best days are ahead, say the optimists.
Maybe so, but China's economic development has not been nearly
as dramatic as some had projected. And it is deeply frustrated
by talk of Taiwan independence and co-existence.
But Russia has little hope of competing effectively with the
West. Its economy is in shambles. Corruption is rampant. Its
weapons are aging. There is open discussion among some Russian
leaders that the time is right for taking chances, using or
losing its military assets, being bold.
Do not underestimate the strength of the strategic alliance
between Moscow and Beijing. This alliance is as important as any
since the Hitler-Stalin pact -- and just as dangerous.

A black hole ate my planet
Could physicists accidentally make killer black holes or lethal
strange matter that would swallow the Earth? At least there'd be
no one left to say sorry to, says Robert Matthews
----------
UH-OH, the mad scientists are at it again. In their
determination to extract nature's secrets, physicists in America
have built a machine so powerful it has raised fears that it
might cause The End of The World As We Know It.
"Big Bang machine could destroy Earth" ran the headline over a
story in The Sunday Times last month. It claimed that our planet
was in peril from a vast new American particle accelerator on
Long Island, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), which
will collide pairs of gold nuclei at high energies. According to
the article, RHIC could trigger a catastrophic event: the
creation of a black hole or a ravenous "strangelet" that could
swallow up our entire planet.
Within 24 hours, the laboratory issued a rebuttal: the risk of
such a catastrophe was essentially zero. The Brookhaven National
Laboratory that runs the collider had set up an international
committee of experts to check out this terrifying possibility.
But BNL director John Marburger, insisted that the risks had
already been worked out. He formed the committee simply to say
why they are so confident the Earth is safe, and put their
arguments on the Web to be read by a relieved public.
Even so, many people will be stunned to learn that physicists
felt worried enough even to mull over the possibility that a new
machine might destroy us all.

Count backwards from Revelation 3:22 (He that hath an ear, let
him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches - KJV), 2000
verses (a verse for each year) through the scriptures. You land
right on 1 Corinthians 15:51 which says: In a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall
be changed.
So if you count a verse for each year, and by counting back
2000 verses (representing 2000 years of the "church age), you
land right on 1 Corinthians 15:51.
-------
In J.R. Church's latest "Prophecy in the News" magazine.
He took the statehood date of Israel which was "May 14,1948"
and multiplied the digits in this date. It came out to"5760."
(5 x 1 x 4 x 1 x 9 x 4 x 8 = 5760)
-------
The date "Tishri 1" on the Jewish calendar this year falls on 9-
11.
Tom Gaston says the Hebrew gematria for Tishri 1 is:
Aleph----Tau----Shin----Resh----Yod
=1 = 400 = 300 = 200 = 10
For a total of 911!!!
Tom says: "What are the odds of adding the letter values of
this very important date and producing the very day that it
lands on in the Gregorian year 1999 or 5759. Not only that, but
it is also the 'emergency' call number for help and disaster. I
checked the calendar to see if I could find anymore Tishri 1
dates that would fall on the 9th month and the 11th day. I
checked all the way to 2030 and didn't find any."
---------
Comments from Jim Bramlett:
Tom Gaston found that May 14, 1948 = 5-14-1948 = 5X1X4X1X9X4X8
= 5760 (the Jewish year beginning September 11, 1999).
Today I was reminded of the following from Bonnie Gaunt:
September 11, 1999 = 9-11-1999 = 9X1X1X1X9X9X9 = 6561.
If September 11, 1999 is "as it was in the days of Noah," isn't
it fascinating that: 6561 is the mirror of the year of the flood
in Noah's day, 1656 from Adam. 6561 is also the gematria for
verses 3-5 of Psalm 93, which Bonnie Gaunt believes speaks of
the Tribulation. Those same three verses also contain 666, 576
(5760 without the zero), and 2520 (the length of the tribulation
period).
----------
A WORD OF PROPHECY
Yacov Rambsel Bible Code Research within Ezekiel 38.
Ezekiel 38:1-4; And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the
chief prince of Mechech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, And
say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,
the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal; And I will turn thee
back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth,
and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed
with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and
shields, all of them handling swords.
This is a prophecy which refers to Russia and could be
fulfilled in the very last days of this year or the beginning of
the next year. One of my main thoughts on this invasion is that
it could occur around the time of the year 2000. Many centuries
ago, Ezekiel, while writing this book, was moved by the Holy
Spirit to write the exact words of Hebrew for this prophecy.
With His sovereign power and precision of planning, God
controlled Ezekiel´s input and thoughts within this prophecy.
Amazingly, throughout the Old Testament (First Covenant), God
has encoded startling, prophetic information within His precise
and beautiful Hebrew language. He does this through letter-skip
intervals of equal distances; this is called ELS, or equidistant-
letter sequence. Could the insight above in those verses of
Scripture relate to the upcoming Y2K computer glitch? Let us
examine them through the glorious eyes of the Holy Spirit (Ruach
haKodesh).
Ezekiel 38:4; Starting with the fourth letter in the third
word, counting forward every 58th letter spells, blemished
computer ruin; mum machaiv ai yu bvjm Also, the Hebrew word for
"Rapture" is encoded at 58-letter increments in the same
location.
Ezekiel 38:3; Starting with the first letter in the ninth word,
counting in reverse every 58th letter spells, Rapture; natzal
lxn. Is it possible that the Rapture of the believers is
associated with the Y2K and computer failure?
---------
Also, Bonnie Gaunt shares from her Hebrew studies, that the
Hebrew word for "blow" has a numerical value of 576 and so does
the Hebrew word "trumpet."
Also she found, in one form of Greek, the number value of the
words, "Lord Jesus Christ" is 3168. The city of Bethlehem rests
on the latitude of 31.68 degrees N. 31,680,000 feet is the
perimeter of the New Jerusalem, 31,680 furlongs is the radius of
the earth and so on.
Lord Jesus Christ In Greek:
LORD
Kappa = 20
Upsilon = 400
Rho = 100
Iota = 10
Omicron = 70
Sigma = 200
Lord = 800
JESUS
Iota = 10
Eta = 8
Sigma = 200
Omicron = 70
Upsilon = 400
Sigma = 200
Jesus = 888
CHRIST
Chi = 600
Rho = 100
Iota = 10
Sigma = 200
Tau = 300
Omicron = 70
Sigma = 200
Christ = 1480
Lord = 800
Jesus = 888
Christ = 1480
Total = 3168
Lord Jesus Christ In Hebrew
LORD
Aleph = 1
Lamed = 30
He = 5
Aleph = 1
Lord = 37
JESUS
Yod = 10
He = 5
Vaw = 6
Shin = 300
Vaw = 6
Ayin = 70
Jesus = 397
CHRIST
Mem = 40
Shin = 300
Yod = 10
Kaph = 8
Christ = 358
Lord = 37
Jesus = 397
Christ = 358
Total = 792
Thus the number equivalents for the name Lord Jesus Christ are
3168 in Greek and 792 in Hebrew. It is startling to realize that
the mean diameter of our earth is 7920 miles, and a square drawn
on that diameter has a perimeter of 31, 680 miles. Thus, a
square drawn around the earth, touching it on all four sides,
would measure 31, 680 miles. In John 1:2 we are told that the
Word (Jesus) made all things, and without Him was nothing made.
Did He plant the number of His name in the dimensions of earth?
Is this just a coincidence, or was it part of a master plan,
encoded into the Scriptures.
Even more startling is the realization that the latitude of the
town of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born, is 31.68ºN. He was born
on His number. It certainly does not look like random chance. It
looks like part of a great plan.
The number 3168 shows up several more times in the relationship
of the distances from the sun to each of the planets, and in the
relationship of the distance to the speed at which light travels
from the sun to our earth.
His name by other Biblical descriptions also adds to 3168:
3168 = Lord Jesus Christ (Greek)
3168 = Son of Man (Greek)
3168 = Mediator between God and man (Greek)
These numbers - 3168 and 792 - are also found in the dimensions
of the New Jerusalem. In Revelation 21 the perimeter of the New
Jerusalem is stated as 12,000 furlongs per side. Converted to
feet it would be 7,920,000 feet per side, making a perimeter of
31,680,000 feet. The word "salvation" in Hebrew Gematria adds to
792. They are not random numbers!
-----------
Miriam Howard found:
1 Tishri falls on a Sabbath this year, on 9/11/99. After
checking every year in a Hebrew calendar book from 1900 to 2100,
in 200 years, 1 Tishri falls on a Sabbath only 3 times per
century ! BUT...it is a fact that 1 Tishri ONLY falls one time
on 9/11, in this century (this year) and only one time in the
next century, on September 11, 2094. And both times IT IS ON A
SABBATH
The diameter of the sun is 864,000 miles. The gematria of the
name "Jerusalem" in Greek equals 864. There are 8640 acres in
the sum of the six sides of the New Jerusalem. "Holy of Holies"
in Greek is 864. "Saints" in Greek is 864. "Cornerstone" in
Greek is 864. 8640 furlongs equals the radius of the moon.
-----------
Michele Kennedy found:
I discovered that if you translate the Greek letters into
English (by your concordance) and spell out each letter of the
word T-R-U-M-P-E-T and multiply each letter together to each
other it equals the number 5760!
