(05-24) 15:13 PDT SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Because the Constitution
doesn't guarantee the right to drive a car, California can deny a
driver license to a man who won't disclose his Social Security number
for religious reasons, a federal appeals court ruled Monday. Donald S.
Miller, an Oakland attorney who had been driving for 23 years, was
denied a license in 1996 when he refused to provide his Social
Security number to the Department of Motor Vehicles. He said his
personal system of religious beliefs forbids using a number to
represent a unique individual in multiple relationships, and makes it
a sin to cooperate with any such use. A state law that took effect in
1992 requires the DMV to obtain each driver's Social Security number
to aid authorities in collecting overdue child support, taxes,
criminal fines and traffic and parking tickets. Without a license in
his home state, Miller cannot drive legally anywhere in the nation.
U.S. District Judge Sandra Brown Armstrong did not question the
sincerity of Miller's religious beliefs but ruled that the DMV was not
violating his religious freedom or his constitutional right to travel
between states. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed. The
Constitution protects the right to travel interstate, but does not
guarantee the right to drive a car as opposed to taking public
transportation or getting a ride from someone else, the court said.
``Miller does not have a fundamental right to drive a motor vehicle,''
said Judge David Thompson in the 3-0 ruling. He said the California
law that requires drivers to provide Social Security numbers to the
DMV is ``a valid and neutral law of general applicability'' that
serves the rational purpose of helping to locate people who owe child
support, taxes or fines. Miller's suit relied initially on a federal
law that required a state to show a ``compelling interest'' in any law
that interfered with a religious practice. But the Supreme Court ruled
that law unconstitutional in 1997, leaving states free to pass neutral
laws that affected religious practice as long as they didn't single
out religion for discrimination. Miller would have won his suit under
the now-overturned federal law but should still win it because of the
importance of cars in modern society, said his lawyer, F. Raymond
Marks. He said he didn't know if the ruling would be appealed. The
lack of a driver's license ``impedes his free access to travel around
the United States,'' Marks said. ``I have real difficulty, in a nation
that's spent more money on highways than schools, to say there's no
right to drive.'' He said there were other ways to track parents and
taxpayers besides Social Security numbers. Miller has also withheld
his Social Security number from the State Bar and the federal courts
for decades, but was granted the right to practice law in California
and before the U.S. Supreme Court and the same appeals court that
ruled against him, Marks said. Miller was ``one of the brightest law
students I've ever taught,'' said Marks, a law professor as well as a
lawyer. ``He's got a lot of integrity.'' Deputy Attorney General Terry
Senne declined comment, saying he had not seen the ruling. The case is
Miller vs. Reed, 97-17006.

6 Billionth Person Expected in Oct.
By DAVID BRISCOE
WASHINGTON (AP) In less than five months, Oct. 12 is the
best
guess, a child's birth will push the world's population to 6
billion.
The new benchmark comes 12 years after the last billion. It
took
13 years for the billion before that. The United Nations is looking
for slower growth over the next century, but some demographers now
think the 7 billion mark could come even more quickly.
Median U.N. projections say it will take 14 years to add
another
billion people. Population projections, however, have become more
complex than ever, with birth and death rates varying widely from
region to region, the impact of AIDS, advances in population programs
and longer life expectancies.
The United Nations will mark the birth of the 6 billionth
child
on Oct. 12.
There are no plans to pinpoint who the child will be or
where he
or she will be born, but chances are the 6 billionth world citizen
will be born a boy in the Third World.
About 105 males are born for every 100 females worldwide.
Other
factors weigh in later on in determining the population, including
higher infant death rates among males and longer life expectancy for
females. The latest data shows about 50.4 percent of the world's
population is male, but in the industrialized world, 51.6 percent of
the population is female. In the United States, women outnumber men
51-49.
Worldwide, population now is increasing at 1.4 percent a
year. Carl Haub of the Population Reference Bureau said
Wednesday that
just a slight change in fertility or mortality now could make a
huge difference in world population figures over the next century.
``If we miss just a little bit on the projections, we could
end
up with 7 billion by the fastest rate ever,'' Haub said. The median
projection that it will take longer to reach the next billion is
based on the idea that fertility rates worldwide will drop to two
children per woman. The current rate is 2.9.
For the long haul, though, demographers don't expect
percentage
population increases to spiral ever upward.
``We've just gone through a demographic century that I
don't
think will ever be equaled,'' said Haub at a news conference
releasing the independent, non-advocacy research group's 1999 World
Population Data Sheet. The sheet notes that world population in the
20th century increased by 4.4 billion, more than 300 percent growth.
Haub said population increases in the next century could
accelerate in some countries, but the worldwide pattern will vary,
with growth occurring almost exclusively in less developed countries.
Industrialized nations, which doubled their population in the 20th
century, will grow slowly or not at all, he said.
Europe, in fact, is likely to lose population over the next
100
years.
The data sheet predicts that more than half the world's
population growth in the next half century will occur in Asia, with
one-third in Africa. It includes figures for each country on
population, fertility, mortality, age, life expectancy, contraceptive
use and income, with a separate chart on population density.

MINI-DESPATCH. May 28, 1999.
W. B. Howard...Editor of Despatch Magazine.
GORBACHEV VISITS AUSTRALIA!
This May, 23rd, 1999, Mikhail Gorbachev spoke in Brisbane! With him
was General Schwarzkopf, "Stormin' Norman" of the Kuwaiti desert
war fame. They both spoke at the World Masters of Business event, held
at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. People who wanted the best seats
paid nearly $1000 for the privilege. Three full-time guards trailed
the Russian at every step.
Well, our media has made a stupid evaluation of Gorbachev and his
importance these days. In the article "Hail Yesterday's Heroes" on
pages 64,65 of the Sunday Mail, 23rd May, the writer made Gorbachev
appear as rather a "has been" riding on the wave of remembered power
and fame. Nothing could be further from the truth, in reality. What is
going on in our country? Gorby spoke in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and
Sydney. He also spoke in New Zealand, in Auckland. Gorby is a
powerful New World Order leader who has immense influence and power -
TODAY, not just yesterday.
We now have a United Nations control centre planned for the top of
Australia (Darwin) and the bottom of Australia (Melbourne). The United
Nations big wig, Gorbachev, is indoctrinating and manipulating people
across our major cities. I don't like it at all!
Just a few details about Mikhail might make our readers think a bit
about the implications of this strange visit of his, not to mention
Schwarzkopf another NWO mouth-piece if there ever was one. Here is a
quote from "Hope for the World", Spring, 1999, by Gary Kah (cover
page, taken from his new book, "The New World Religion The Spiritual
Roots of Global Government")
"During the 1990s, the efforts of New Age activists have continued to
intensify, with occultists increasingly pushing their agenda for
global unity under the banner of environmental reform. In fact, many
of the `successful' one-world meetings of the last ten years have
convened for the alleged purpose of solving the environmental crisis.
This chapter will take a look at a few of these notable gatherings,
including the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. A review of these events and the
people behind them will help the reader understand the real purpose
and nature of the New Age environmental movement.
"Among those at the forefront of this movement, there is one
individual who stands out more than any other. Believed by many to
have fallen from the political scene with the collapse of the Soviet
Union, he currently wields more power and influence in shaping the
future of the world than perhaps any diplomat of our generation. Yet
strangely, most of us are not even aware of his influence, let alone
that he has risen to the top of the one-world movement. His keen
sense of timing and political prowess have enabled him to forge
alliances where others before him have failed. His friends include
many of the world's most adept politicians, financial power brokers,
and religious leaders. The person of whom I am speaking is Mikhail
Gorbachev."
WHY WAS GORBACHEV HERE IN AUSTRALIA and New Zealand? This is
THE powerful man of the New World Order! Coming to us dressed in
sheep's clothing! Here are some quotes from the leader himself
"I am not ashamed to admit that I am a Communist, and will be one when
I go to another world." (Mikhail Gorbachev. As quoted by Dmitry
Mikheyev, The Rise and Fall of Gorbachev Indianapolis, IN Hudson
Institute, 1992. p.47).
"We see socialism as a system of true equality of all actions and
nationalities, a system in which they are assured social and spiritual
advancement and mutual enrichment, in which there is no room for any
strife between nations, for nationalist and chauvinist prejudices, and
in which internationalism and the fraternity of nations rule supreme."
(Mikhail Gorbachev, Documents and Materials, p 92).
"I want to say categorically...that we shall continue to develop all
truly socialist values, and firmly eliminate everything that distorts
revolutionary theory and the image of socialism." (report by Mikhail
Gorbachev, General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee at the 19th
All-Union Conference of the CPSU, Documents and Materials. Washington,
DC Embassy of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, p.90).
QUOTE FROM WILLIAM NORMAN GRIGG, "Freedom on the Altar" page 6.
(Publisher, American Opinion Publishing Inc.)
"Another, and arguably even more audacious outline for the UN reform,
is the `Global Security Programme' (GSP) put forth by the Gorbachev
Foundation. Mikhail Gorbachev, an erstwhile Soviet dictator, is an
unpunished mass murderer whose policies killed millions of innocent
people in the Soviet Union, Latin America, Africa, and Asia. in other
words, he is exactly the sort of person whose policy recommendations
would find a receptive audience at the United Nations.
"Gorbachev's GSP calls for the disarmament of all nations, the
strengthening of UN law enforcement authority, the involvement of UN
officials in 'diversity' initiatives and `conflict resolution,' the
development of UB-directed initiatives in history revision to `revise
incorrect or tendenious versions of the history of inter-group
relations,' and the creation of a `United Nations General Assembly
Commission for the Prevention and Resolution of Conflicts' - a 10-15
member elitist body, presumably composed of august personages like
Gorbachev himself, which would `keep a worldwide watch on potentially
conflictual situations' and supervise prevention. (Global Security
Programme, Final Report Gorbachev Foundation/Moscow, Gorbachev
Foundation/USA, and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, October, 1994,
pp.10-15.)"
Do you realise, Australian, that Mikhail Gorbachev's Global Security
Programme, which is a blueprint for empowering the United Nations,
includes a proposal for the creation of a "transnational Network of
Citizen Action Group." The document recommends, as well as other
actions, that political leaders should `"express contrition for the
infliction of past hurts on a victimised group." Consider the
"apologies" being forced upon our own political leaders re. the
aboriginals in this land! Yes, we are sorry for suffering, all of us
are. But for global leaders to wield such power over national
governments is chillingly sinister! We must suppose that Gorbachev is
exempt from his giving apology for his own persecution of Christians,
Jews, Moslems and the indigenous peoples of the former Soviet
Republic.
Consider that our own Premier Beattie in Queensland issued a mushy and
emotional "sorry" to our indigenous peoples at the same time as Gorby
was in Queensland. Are we to assume that this was coincidental, and
that the NWO leader didn't visit Beattie for manipulation reasons? It
appears to this writer that we couldn't be that naive.
Gorbachev has adopted all the eco-environmental occult nature beliefs
of the New Age! He organised the "Global Forum of Spiritual and
Parliamentary Leaders for Human Survival," which brought more than
1,000 political and religious leaders to Moscow. The conference led to
the forming of the Green Cross Green/Crescent organisation, through
which the evangelist Gorbachev "preaches" the message of Gaia Mother
Earth Goddess! Gorby helped compose the infamous "Earth Charter,"
which has ready to enforce upon us the TEN COMMANDMENTS of the NEW
AGE! He declared "There must be a kind of ten commandments for the
environment, something that no one would be allowed to violate."
Amazing, for God Who created the real Ten Commandments gave no such
enforcement for the New Age laws for the environment.
IS GORBY A HAS-BEEN?
NO WAY! HE IS A GLOBAL NEW AGE LEADER - of enormous power.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN AUSTRALIA? WHY THE INCREASE OF UNITED
NATIONS' POWER HERE? Northern Territory News, May 19, 1999, article
by Nikki Voss, page 5 "The United Nations will spend $10 million
setting up an international command centre in Darwin to monitor the
East Timor referendum.
From Monday, the Reserve Bank building in Bennett St will be home to
a 12-person UN crisis team for three months. The team will buy
equipment and supplies worth millions of dollars from Darwin
businesses, including food, medical supplies and fuel...."
The Age, April 24, 1999. Article by Glenn Mitchell
"UN HQ moves a step closer.
Melbourne expects to become the United Nations' southern capital,
following an agreement with World Bank....Herald Sun yesterday
obtained exclusively the UNAA and Committee for Melbourne proposal to
create a UN headquarters. The revelations come as the UN procurement
agencies hold their annual meeting in Melbourne this week....The
national vice-president of the United Nations Association of
Australia, Michael Gorton, said the World Bank agreement `absolutely
boosted' Melbourne's chances of winning its bid....A number of
possible sites, including the old Royal Mint and Docklands have been
examined as possible headquarters."
This means two new UN centres will be here, one at the top of
Australia, and the other at the bottom of the continent.
MELBOURNE TO GET THE LARGEST OBELISK IN THE WORLD?
A plan is still in the pipeline to build what is termed "the largest
obelisk in the world" in Melbourne. Where do they envision this occult
symbol might be build? At the Docklands. Where might the UN centre be?
At the Docklands. At the moment too much opposition has been levelled
against the Obelisk/Tower for it to proceed, but we will see what the
future holds.
What is an obelisk? It is an occult phallic symbol, used by the
occult, Masonic United Nations. A former witch is quoted in Dr Cathy
Burn's book on symbols, "Masonic and Occult Symbols Illustrated, "
page 341 "The obelisk is a long pointed four-sided shaft, the
uppermost portion of which forms a pyramid. The word `obelisk'
literally means `Ball's Shaft' of Baal's organ of reproduction. This
should be especially shocking when we realise that we have a gigantic
obelisk in our nation's capital know as Washington Monument."
Panel cuts Grollo's dream down to size By Karen Lyon and Sian Watkins.
The 113-storey Grollo Tower, the dream of
theMelbourne developer Mr Bruno Grollo,hasbeen
rejected by aState Government-appointed panel.
The panel, set up to evaluate whether the
$1.5billionproject
should proceed, found that the Tower's
promisedcontributions
to Melbourne were unsubstantiated.
The panel has lodged its recommendation with
thePlanning Minister, Mr Rob Maclellan, who is
expected toannounce a decision within the next
10 days.
Mr Maclellan's office yesterday released the
panel'sreport,
which questioned the tower's overall benefit to
thecity.
It said it could not support the removal
anddemolition of old
railway goods sheds to make way for the
tower.Heritage Victoria has already rejected an
application by
MrGrollo to
relocate the two historic railway sheds.
Statistics show that Mr Maclellan accepts more
than90per cent
of panel recommendations.
Last night, Mr Daniel Grollo, Mr Bruno Grollo's
sonand the
project manager, said he was confident ``that we
can satisfactorily address any problem that
might
beraised (by the
panel). This is an international landmark
project
andwe must
make sure we get it right''.
``We know we will eventually succeed because
thisproject is
too good for Melbourne and the Docklands to
beshelved,'' he
said.
The Grollos have spent $5million planning the
towerwhich, if
built, would contain 450 residential
apartments,restaurants,
retail, offices and a hotel. It has about
$2.5millionin a trust fund
from buyers who have paid $5000 deposits on
theapartments.
This will be returned if the project does not
goahead.
Mr Maclellan said he would defer his decision on
the amendment until he got more information from
thepanel
on wind
effects and urban design issues. He would also
getmore information from the Docklands Authority
on economicand community benefits of the
proposal and processes
thatcould be
used to resolve the urban design issues.
MELBOURNE IS TO HAVE A MINI-VATICAN IN THE C.B.D. AS WELL
(See last quarters' Despatch magazine, March, 1999).
Well, Melbourne is sure being targeted by the New World Order and the
One World Church by the looks of it.
MEANWHILE, BACK TO BRISBANE.
Members of seven religious faiths have joined forces to establish a
multi-faith centre at Griffith University which they hope will be an
example of peace and solidarity throughout the world. The leaders were
from the Buddhist, Baha'i, "Christian', Hindu, Jewish and Muslim
faiths. Aboriginal indigenous elders launched the project this May.
The centre will be built at the Griffith Uni. Money is currently being
raised for the $2 million centre with a $150,00 boost from Buddhist
Master Using Ting.
The Project chairman is Uri Themal. He said
"Religion is often divisive and the cause of conflict, not just in
history but right now - we need look no further than the situation in
Yugoslavia or in Timor." "Here is a chance to bring all the religions
together to discover, through dialogue and learning, a common ground
in order to address the issues of our time."
The centre will have areas dedicated to prayer, worship, education and
cultural activities as well as a common area for Interfaith dialogue
and social interaction."
THERE IS BUT ONE GOD!
And One Way to God, the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed Blood. "Mystery
Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the
Earth" is rising in strength amongst us!

FCC PROPOSES CHANGES TO PHONE NUMBERING SYSTEM
The Federal Communications Commission is proposing changes to the way
phone numbers are allocated, in an effort to make better use of
existing numbers and to reduce the need for frequent area code
reassignments. The FCC plan would require phone companies to return
unused numbers to a pool that would be used to fill new number
requests. In addition, phone companies would be given blocks of just
1,000 numbers at a time, rather than the current 10,000-number blocks.
Finally, the agency has raised the possibility of instituting
10-digit dialing for all local phone calls rather than the seven-digit
string now used in most areas of the country. Lockheed Martin
Communications Industry Services, which distributes phone numbers,
estimates that two-thirds of the 961-million phone numbers allocated
as of the end of 1998 remain unused, but says, "Unless something is
done, we estimate we will run out of area codes and phone numbers
within 10 years." (Wall Street Journal 27 May 99) http://wsj.com/
NEW SEIKO CHIP DOES TCP/IP
The new iChip, developed by Seiko in conjunction with iReady Corp.,
has TCP/IP capabilities built into it. The iChip likely first will be
used to add e-mail functions to a cell phone or to enhance a wireless

way into automobiles, appliances and vending machines. "Our goal is
to add communications functions to devices that usually are not
associated with communications," says an applications engineering
manager for Seiko. "We're looking for the next killer application
that will drive the networked appliance market." (EE Times 27 May 99)

CONSUMER ACTIVISTS CRITICIZE BELL-ATLANTIC CHARGE
Consumer activists on the east coast are complaining about a new
23-cent monthly phone fee that Bell Atlantic is charging customers to
pay for network changes necessary for "local number portability," so
that people can keep their phone numbers if they decide to switch
phone companies. Gene Kimmelman of the Consumers Union says, "The
regulators aren't doing their jobs. There seems to be an endless price
spiral that the FCC was supposed to be offsetting with price
reductions." But Lawrence Strickling of the Federal Communications
Commission says that spreading the costs of portability across the
industry is the fairest way to ensure competition: "It all stems from
the notion that everybody will be better off in a competitive
environment. It seems quite fair to us that everybody ought to share
the costs of creating that competitive environment." (Washington Post

This came in answer to my question of when the 666 number would be
reached in regards to world population:
"It looks like the population growth is roughly linear since this
billion took 12 years, the previous took 13 year and the next will be
14 years. We have been used to logarithmic rates of increase. If it
has leveled off as this article says, then to add 660,000,000 (total
6,660,000,000) would be 66/100X12 years or 8 years or Oct. 2007."

Can scientist prolong man's life to 130 yrs?
Story Filed: Wednesday, May 26, 1999 10:51 PM EST
Lusaka (Times of Zambia, May 26, 1999) - Longevity is what everyone
longs for. And our prayers are, in fact, constant pleas to God to
extend our days on earth.
"Please allow us to see the light of tomorrow," we daily pray. And
when tomorrow comes we again ask to see the light of the next day; and
so endless prayers are made for us to live long on this earth. We
might all have different reasons for desiring longevity, but one
reason is common: To see our dreams come to pass.
But considering man's nature and the various factors that affect him,
that desire is never granted. Death always finds and claims us.
Sooner or later, we are all destined to succumb to life's merciless
paws - death, the grim reaper. And the current life-span of the
average Zambian fluctuating between 44 and 47 years, means that our
encounter with death is now much sooner than it used to be.
But that trend is now being strongly challenged and may be subject to
reversal. Thanks to dynamic medical and scientific advances.
Scientists and doctors the world-over have been working hard round the
clock trying to find solutions of preventing the d eath mania from
getting out of proportion.
They have been working tirelessly to find remedies for present
conditions that haunt the body to its eventual doom. And based on
their findings, scientists and doctors have predicted that man can now
brace himself to clock 130 years before the aging process catches with
him. A recent issue of the Sunday Times of London reports that modern
scientific and medical advances now have the potential of pushing
life-span to at least 130.
Quoting Machio Kaku, a physicist at City University of New York, the
paper reports that breakthroughs in human genetics, organ cloning and
the biology of aging will undoubtedly add extra years to the current
life-span. Kaku is quoted as saying these developments are way beyond
science fiction.
"It is a viable, scientific proposal that people are going to live
long, " he says. Confirming the developments, Soka Nyirenda of the
University Teaching Hospital (UTH) recently disclosed in an interview
that doctors have now devised methods to slow down the aging process,
and methods to screen a person for future medical problems. He also
revealed that newer and better drugs that have lesser side effects for
heart diseases and cancer are now available.
Dr Nyirenda, who is registrar in the department of medicine at the
hospital, said doctors are now also able to grow certain organs from a
person's own tissue. This is made possible by a process called
genetical engineering.
Using this process, particular genes that code for particular organs
can be induced to produce that organ. This literally means that the
question of body cells rejecting alien organs does not arise.
Genetical engineering can also be used to detect canc er in its early
stage and curable types, like cancer of the cervix, are easy to treat
at this stage.
It is also used to screen the genetical makeup of an individual for
future medical disorders. By this, genes with abnormalities are
identified, removed and replaced by normal ones. And the mystery
around the biology of aging, which has eluded medical s cientists for
many years, is now a subject in history books. Science has now made it
possible for doctors to uncover the secrets that lie behind aging by
identifying the processes involved.
They are now certain that aging is mainly caused by two processes.
Firstly, it is caused by the body cells having reached their normal
life-span.
"To slow this down, a drug called Tomerase is administered to keep the
cells in their young age," Dr Nyirenda said. Secondly, the body
produces toxic, reactive radicals as by- products, like nitrious
oxide, which destroy the body cells.
"To prevent the destruction of the cells, oxidising agents are
administered that give the cells micro nutrients to get rid of the
reactive radicals," he added. However, although these developments
guarantee an increased life-span, there is one drawback - cost.
Naturally, everything in life comes down to that.
Money is always the obstacle. And Dr Prassanna, head of the department
of physiological sciences at the University of Zambia (Unza) Ridgeway
campus, observes that in fact most Zambians die of curable conditions
simply because they can not afford the me dication. Furthermore,
although the possibility of a longer life is now more of a reality
than a fairytale, the news has been received with mixed feelings in
some quarters of the Zambian populace.
Nephy Banda, a Kabwata resident, thinks scientists are fighting a
losing battle against nature, and that the money and time invested in
the research are just resources wasted. He says the law of aging is
God's doing and only God can undo it.
And man's efforts to change that will only prove fruitless. "That is
just how it is," he said. Chitalu Musonda thinks a world full of
centenarians would be an unproductive one because the older one gets,
the lesser he is able to do productive work.
Chitalu, a medical student at the Unza, also comforts those who are
afraid of dying saying "death can be such a blessing sometimes." And
despite appreciating his profession, Dr Nyirenda does not foresee any
benefit that longevity would be to society. H is is the view that it
would bring about over population which in turn would negatively
affect society.
Social and economic catastrophes would arise whose consequences would
be diverse and the solution unaffordable. Shortages in food and
accommodation, increase in unemployment and an increase in disease
outbreaks caused by overcrowding, would be the orde r of the day. "The
whole set up would just be disorganised," Dr Nyirenda reasons.
But a source in the school of natural sciences at the Unza, Great East
Campus, thinks that even to live to be 130 is not long enough. He says
if research in medicine and science is properly funded, nothing will
stop man from achieving mortality. The so urce also disclosed that to
achieve immortality is in fact the motive behind all scientific
research.
"Science's quest to achieve immortality. And these experiments are
just steps towards that goal," he says.
Seconding this revelation is Machio Kaku who cited flounders,
alligators and turtles as animals that can, in theory, live forever
because their life-span is not fixed. He told the Sunday Times of
London that these animals only die because of disease, a ccidents and
starvation. "So if other animals can do it, so might we," he said.

New book answers challenge issued by Islam's holy book
By C.S. Arthur
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (BP)--For nearly 1,400 years, challenges to
the Qur'an and its claims of divine origin and purity have been
few, far between and, when necessary, forcibly silenced. Now
Islam's holy book is facing a new challenge -- "The True Furqan," a
368-page book mirroring the Qur'an, or Koran, in language and style,
but challenging its teachings and divine authority.
"We believe that our Muslim friends -- numbering more than 1
billion mostly in 39 countries -- have not received the true
message of the gospel," said Al-Mahdy, a member of the executive
committee of Project Omega 2001, which released The True Furqan
in April. "Furqan" is synonymous with Qur'an.
The hardcover book was delivered to Muslim countries' embassies
in Paris on April 17 and to various entities in London such as
the BBC on April 20. On May 15, it was delivered to Arabic,
Hebrew and English periodicals in Jerusalem and, during the week
of May 17, to Arabic periodicals in London.
"The purpose of The True Furqan is a tool of evangelism, because
so far we have not found a breakthrough way to reach the Muslim
world for Christ," Al-Mahdy said. "We have tried medicine,
schools, books, movies and many other methods.
"There has not been a classical Arabic translation of the Bible
that Muslims would consider reading," he continued. "They make
fun of the one translated into their spoken language because they
consider it of lesser quality." Quality and style of language is a
source of pride for Arabic people, whose classical written language is
one of the most difficult in the world. Muslims claim the writings of
the Qur'an are powerful as relayed in perfect classical Arabic, a rich
language of words which often have no equivalent in any other language
to fully express their meaning.
Now, The True Furqan not only presents the gospel message in
classical Arabic, but moreover, it seeks to become a key to
reaching the Muslim world for Christ by answering a
1,400-year-old challenge from the Qur'an:
"Say: 'If the whole/ of mankind and Jinns/ Were to gather
together/ to produce the like/ of this Qur'an they could not
produce/ the like thereof, even if/ They backed each other/ With
help and support'" (The Holy Qur'an, Surah 17:88).
"The Qur'an challenged the world to produce a book like it," said
Al-Mahdy. "In fact, the Muslim world bases its entire religion on this
challenge. But no one has tried it because they would be beheaded or
banished. Even Taha Hussain, a well-known Egyptian scholar and writer
of this century, was threatened with death if he attempted it. No
literary document has surfaced in 1,400 years as a response to the
challenge."
Until now.
Al-Mahdy said The True Furqan will be a breakthrough to Muslims
not only because it answers the Qur'an's challenge, but because
it also questions many of the Qur'an's teachings, as well as
presenting the gospel message, all in the language Muslims revere --
powerful, perfect, classical Arabic.
"Muslims will want to see a book that accepts the Qur'an's
challenge," said Al-Mahdy. "Then the evidence presented against
the Qur'an will shake their foundation. They will seek a more
solid base.
"And the gospel message in The True Furqan will provide it."
An Internet site -- http://members.xoom.com/TrueFurqan -- is
scheduled to be opened during the week of May 31 relaying various
parts of The True Furqan. Orders for the book, at $19.99 including
postage, can be sent to Project Omega 2001, P.O. Box 293627,
Sacramento, CA 95829.
The Qur'an of the seventh century was formulated over 23 years by
Islam's prophet, Muhammad. "The True Furqan took only seven years,"
Al-Mahdy said, adding that the new book also relays its message with
eloquent English alongside the classical Arabic.
In answering the Qur'anic challenge, The True Furqan is written
in both prose and poetry like the Qur'an, with the same style of
articulation. It is divided into surahs or chapters, just like
the Qur'an, dealing with 77 theological themes, such as Peace,
The Messiah, The Triune God, The Crucifixion, Women, Fasting, and
Prayer, which challenge the Qur'an's teachings and present the gospel.
Each surah begins, "In the Name of the Father, the Word, the Holy
Spirit, the One and Only True God," an echo of the Koran's "In the
name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."
"The style, language and power is exactly like the Qur'an," said
Al-Mahdy. "But whereas the Qur'an has 100 linguistic and
grammatical mistakes, The True Furqan will have none."
In 1988, Salman Rushdie published his fictional novel, "The
Satanic Verses," a work stereotyping Islam, its prophet, its
people and way of life. The Ayatollah Khomeni, leader of the
Iranian revolution and the target of a fiercely satirical
portrait in the novel, responded by calling for the author's
death. Al-Mahdy said Muslim backlash from the release of The True
Furqan ultimately may prove even worse. "This book answers the
Qur'an's challenge, which has never been done before, plus it's a
scholarly work, not a novel. The True Furqan contains foundational
truths, not jokes."
(An overview of academic and theological theories about -- and
challenges to -- the Qur'an and Islamic history appeared in the
January 1999 issue of The Atlantic Monthly.)
Already, Al-Mahdy has witnessed amazing reactions from Muslims
and other Arabic people to The True Farqan. "I spoke with a man
from Bangladesh who said he knew classical Arabic, so I recited
about six verses of The True Furqan. He beamed and announced that it
was the Holy Qur'an. I told him it was the new Holy Qur'an. He jumped
out of his seat and screamed, 'Impossible!' I said 'You have just
testified to it.'"
For Christians, The True Furqan also raises a question, Al-Mahdy
said. "Will the Christian communities throughout the world be
prepared to welcome a flood of new converts from Islam into their
midst?"
House subcommittee approves Religious Liberty Protection Act
By Tom Strode
WASHINGTON (BP)--A congressional subcommittee approved the
Religious Liberty Protection Act May 26 at the start of what
could be a rocky road to passage for the legislation.
In a voice vote, the Constitution Subcommittee of the House of
Representatives Judiciary Committee gave the go-ahead to RLPA
despite Democratic attempts to both amend it and to substitute a
different version for it.
The bill, H.R. 1691, is a secondary attempt to alleviate problems for
religious liberty brought on by a high court opinion. It is a response
to a 1997 Supreme Court ruling largely overturning the Religious
Freedom Restoration Act, which was a congressional response to a 1990
decision by the justices.
The Religious Freedom Restoration Act was enacted in 1993 in
order to remedy the 1990 Employment Division v. Smith opinion, in
which the Supreme Court rejected a previous requirement the government
must show it has a "compelling interest" in restricting religious
expression and its action is the "least restrictive means" in
furthering that interest. Instead, the high court said the government
only must show a law is neutral toward religion. RFRA restored the
"compelling interest/least restrictive" test, but the justices
rejected the law in the City of Boerne v. Flores decision, ruling
Congress exceeded its authority.
While more limited in scope than RFRA, the Religious Liberty
Protection Act relies on three congressional powers -- the
spending clause, the interstate commerce clause and the 14th
Amendment -- to restore the "compelling interest/least
restrictive means" test where applicable.
A diverse coalition -- including the Southern Baptist Ethics &
Religious Liberty Commission, Baptist Joint Committee on Public
Affairs, Family Research Council and People for the American Way
-- backs RLPA.
RLPA "is based on the conviction that government should
accommodate the religious exercise of individuals and groups
unless there are compelling reasons not to do so," Rep. Charles
Canady, R.-Fla., subcommittee chairman, said at the committee
mark-up. "The purpose of this bill is to help ensure that people
do indeed have a right to practice their religion."
Rep. Melvin Watt, D.-N.C., the ranking minority member, expressed
concerns, saying he was "not sure what this bill will be used" to do.
Watt offered a substitute requiring only the government make
"fair and reasonable accommodation of the special requirements of
persons acting pursuant to their religious beliefs," according to the
Congressional Quarterly Daily Monitor. The panel rejected it on a
voice vote.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D.-N.Y., offered an amendment specifying who
would be able to make a claim or a defense under the law. It also was
defeated by voice vote.
"Naturally, we are pleased that this bill has been passed intact
out of subcommittee, and we hope and expect for the same result
from the full committee," said Will Dodson, the Ethics &
Religious Liberty Commission's director of public policy.
Among organizations, opposition to RLPA exists on the left and
right.
On the left, the American Civil Liberties Union, which backed
RLPA in the last Congress, has joined with the country's two
largest homosexual rights organizations to oppose RLPA unless it
includes an amendment protecting civil rights laws. The ACLU,
plus the Human Rights Campaign and the National Gay and Lesbian
Task Force, fear the bill will favor religious exercise over laws
banning discrimination based on such things as "sexual orientation"
and HIV/AIDS.
On the right, the Home School Legal Defense Association leads a
group against the bill because of its use of the commerce clause. That
coalition contends only those religious organizations large enough to
affect interstate commerce would be able to seek RLPA's protection. It
also argues people of faith would be forced to challenge government
restrictions of religious exercise on the basis of commercial
activity, not their beliefs.
The pro-RLPA coalition also includes the Christian Legal Society,
National Council of Churches, National Association of Evangelicals,
Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Christian
Coalition, American Jewish Congress and Focus on the Family.
Last year, the Constitution Subcommittee approved RLPA but only
after removing the commerce clause provision. The bill moved no
further.
'Drunk fetus' isn't a human, Wisconsin appeals court rules
By Daniel Walker Guido
WASHINGTON (BP)--Attempted homicide charges against an
intoxicated mother who told emergency room personnel she wanted
to drink her unborn baby to death were thrown out on appeal May
26 by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
The appellate court relied upon other court rulings that declare
only a third person can be held accountable for injuries to an
unborn baby who dies after birth. No such charges can be filed
against the baby's mother for doing the same thing, the court
ruled.
The ruling -- which split hairs between the baby born drunk and
another case in which a baby was killed by a drunken driver, whom the
same court said could be charged with homicide -- was described as
ludicrous by C. Ben Mitchell, consultant on biomedical and life issues
for the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and
assistant professor of Christian ethics at Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky.
"If Wisconsin law does not regard the fetus as a human being, the law
must be changed -- immediately," Mitchell said. "Only American
jurisprudence could get it that wrong. Of course, a human fetus is a
human being. A human fetus isn't a dog or a cat. The fetus is a
living, human baby.
"The intention to harm or kill a human fetus is intention to harm or
kill a human being," Mitchell continued. "We all know that
intuitively. We don't need the courts to tell us that that's true.
What we need is for the courts to recognize what we all already know,
that all life is sacred."
The day her baby was born in 1996, the mother, Deborah J.
Zimmerman, 36, of Racine, Wis., had a blood alcohol content of
.30 -- three times the state's legal limit -- when her mother
took her from a Wisconsin bar to a hospital. Upon arrival,
Zimmerman told a nurse "if you don't keep me here, I'm just going to
go home and keep drinking and drink myself to death and I am going to
kill this thing because I don't want it anyway," referring to the
unborn child.
According to court records, Zimmerman also expressed fear about
the baby's race, an abusive relationship she was in and the pain
of giving birth. After consulting with a doctor, however, she
consented to a cesarean section and give birth to a baby girl
named Meagan M. Zimmerman. At birth, baby Meagan was "extremely
small, she had no subcutaneous fat and her physical features"
clearly illustrated fetal alcohol affects, the records state.
After a few weeks, baby Meagan was gaining weight, had no
significant jaundice and was able to tolerate temperatures
outside of an incubator, whereupon she was discharged to a foster
family, records state.
While expressing gratitude that the baby girl no longer is with
the mother who didn't want her and voiced her intention to kill
her, Mitchell said the case should not end here and should be
appealed to a higher court, even all the way to the U.S. Supreme
Court if needed. No decision has been announced by the state to
appeal the appellate court's decision.
"This decision declares open season on the unborn," Mitchell
said. "A mother's womb is to be a place of nurture and warmth,
not a death chamber. If we allow mothers to intentionally kill
their children, what moral standing do we have to tell teenagers
they can't kill their peers?
"After all, the courts have a sullied history when it comes to
narrowing the definition of who is a human being," Mitchell said. "The
Nazi courts decided that Jews and the mentally retarded were not human
beings. Southern Americans decided that slaves were not human beings,
but chattel to be bought and sold in the marketplace. This decision
repeats the sins of our forebears."
In its ruling, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals compared baby
Meagan's ordeal to a child killed by a drunk driver in the case
of State of Wisconsin v. Cornelius, a 1989 decision by the same
appellate court. In that decision, the court upheld charges of
homicide against the defendant for having caused the death of a
baby from the injuries the baby suffered in the car crash while
still in its mother's womb.
The court argued that since the child was born alive, but died
later of its injuries, it met the state's test of being "born
alive" to be considered a human being.
In both the 1989 case and its new ruling, the child was born
alive within hours of the initial incident. Yet the court did not make
that comparison.
If the baby's mother, however, had been forced by another person
to consume so much alcohol as to endanger the fetus -- which she
willingly did on her own -- the court could have upheld the other
person's being charged with homicide, the ruling stated.
"Thirty-one states, by judicial decision, have adopted the 'born
alive' rule that if an unborn child suffers a prenatal injury at
the hands of a third party and is born alive, certain civil or
criminal charges may be brought against the third party," the
appellate court said. However, it said, that stance by 31 other
states does not apply to self-abuse by a mother which negatively
impacts an unborn child, later "born alive."
"Specifically, the State posits that holding mothers accountable
for injuries they inflict on their children prenatally is the
next logical step beyond the courts' application of the 'born
alive' rule to third parties in State v. Cornelius," the court
noted. It decided against that line of argument in its ruling
against state prosecutors in the Zimmerman case.
Zimmerman, who served a two-year prison term for bail violations
and is in jail pending resolution of the case, lost custody of
her daughter after a four-day trial in Racine County (Wis.)
Circuit Court.
The baby, Meagan, was born with symptoms of fetal alcohol
syndrome. At the time of the birth, Zimmerman had a blood-alcohol
level of 0.30 -- triple the legal limit of intoxication.
Doctors performed an emergency caesarian section to deliver the
baby, who was born with a blood-alcohol level of 0.199. The state
appeals court agreed with Zimmerman's contention that she only had
harmed her body and her fetus, not another human being.
"We are persuaded that the term 'human being' ... was not
intended to refer to an unborn child and that [the woman's]
prenatal conduct does not constitute attempted first-degree
intentional homicide and first-degree reckless injury," the court
ruled.

Senators push Clinton to move US Embassy to Jerusalem
Weekend News Today
By Staff Writer
Source: Jerusalem Post
Thu May 27 , 1999 -- Several senators are about to send a letter to
President Bill Clinton threatening to amend legislation to force him
to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem. A White House official
criticized the initiative, which could come as soon as this weekend,
as "shoving things down people's throats" rather than working with the
administration on a compromise. The latest draft of the letter to
Clinton, spearheaded by Democrat Joseph Lieberman and Republican Jon
Kyl, said the senators "strongly urge you not to invoke" a waiver to
postpone the embassy move on national security grounds. "Should you
choose to do so, we will see no option but to amend the Jerusalem
Embassy Act to remedy this unacceptable delay in moving the US Embassy
to Jerusalem, and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel," it
states. The amendment would strip the president's waiver authority and
provide six to 12 more months to move the embassy. Doug Feith, a
Washington lawyer who is an adviser to Kyl, said the senators are
seeking further bipartisan support of the chamber's leadership before
dispatching the message to Clinton. "We're getting additional support
- it's growing, not waning," he said. "There's a sense this thing
should be done." Other senators are likely to send similar letters to
Clinton, Feith said.
PA hopes for Orient House compromise
Weekend News Today
By Andra Brack
Source: Ha'aretz
Thu May 27 , 1999 -- The attorney representing the three Orient House
offices subject to closure orders in East Jerusalem hopes that a
compromise can be reached with the new Israeli government. "As the
circumstances have changed and a new reality has been created, it will
be possible to reach a compromise outside the courtroom walls," wrote
Jawad Bulus in a position paper submited to the High Court of Justice
on Tuesday. A High Court temporary injunction was issued two weeks
ago, postponing any action against the Orient House until after the
elections. The Netanyahu government alleged that Palestinian Authority
business was being conducted in the three offices in question and that
this presented a threat to Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem. In his
response to the High Court, Bulus argued that the decision to close
the offices stemmed from political considerations and unreasonable
motives. He added that the Ministry of Internal Security has been
subject to political pressures that have made it impossible to reach a
compromise agreement. The outgoing minister, Avigdor Kahalani, said
yesterday that he stands by the decision to close the Orient House
offices and transfer them to the territories. "The laws of Israel must
be followed, but at the same time we should avoid a physical
confrontation with the other side", he said. Bulus responded to
Kahalani's statement by saying that the Palestinian Authority would
not conduct business in these offices and that there is no legal
provision for transferring offices that are complying with the law.
Police sources confirmed yesterday that the closure orders were on
hold pending a court decision. A three-justice panel is expected to
rule on the matter.
PA official expelled from Jerusalem again
Weekend News Today
By Andra Brack
Source: Ha'aretz
Thu May 27 , 1999 -- Ziad Abu Ziad, a senior minister in the
Palestinian Authority, was again detained and questioned by police in
Jerusalem yesterday and escorted outside the city limits. An
injunction prohibiting entry to Jerusalem was issued against Abu Ziad
and several other Palestinian Authority officials in late March after
they met with foreign diplomats at the Orient House. Abu Ziad was also
detained by police and expelled from Jerusalem when spotted near the

Thu May 27 , 1999 -- Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid
on Wednesday in Cairo discussed the Middle east peace process and
issues of mutual concern between the Arab League and Germany with a
German parliamentary delegation led by Gensher Pulser. The AL chief
expressed his hope that Israel will carry out all agreements and
obligations. He stressed the importance of implementing UN Security
Council resolutions 242, 338 and 425 and the land-for-peace principle.
Pulser, for his part, stressed the importance of implementing all
international legitimacy resolutions pertaining to the Arab- Israeli
conflict. He noted the recent decision taken by the European Union
summit held in Berlin which criticized stances taken by the Israeli
government under outgoing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's
government which led to the freezing of the Middle East peace process.

Thu May 27 , 1999 -- Jordan's King Abdullah Bin Hussein and
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat have asserted the need for
"continued Jordanian- Palestinian coordination and the tripartite
Jordanian, Egyptian and Palestinian coordination prior to starting the
final status negotiations with the Israeli side." The two sides agreed
on the need "to revitalize Arab coordination on all levels and to give
such a coordination a dimension and level that complies with the
forthcoming phase of negotiations so as to assure Arab backing for the
Palestinian negotiators and the importance of attaining Palestinian
rights, especially the establishment of the independent Palestinian
state with Jerusalem as a capital." King Abdullah and Arafat also
underlined the importance of resuming negotiations on the Syrian and
Lebanese tracks according to the Madrid terms of reference. Jordanian
Foreign Minister Abdil Ilah al-Khatib said upon reading the joint
statement released by the bilateral summit between King Abdullah and
Yasser Arafat that, "Arab coordination is of special significance in
this phase when all sights are directed towards achievements in the
peace process after this process is being accelerated on all tracks."
The visit of King Abdullah Bin Hussein is the first of its kind since
he assumed power in succession of his father, King Hussein. The
Jordanian King was accompanied by a high-ranking Jordanian delegation
including Prince Hashem Bin Hussein, Prime Minister Abdul Raouf
al-Rawabdeh, the chairman of the Royal court Abdul Karim al-Kabareiti,
the King's advisor Salah Abu Zeid, Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah
al-Khatib, Information Minister Nasser al-Louzi, Minister of the
Interior Nayed al-Qadi and Trade Minister Muhammad Asfour.

Thu May 27 , 1999 -- Greeted with a red carpet royal welcome, Jordan's
King Abdullah arrived in the PLO Authority (PA) autonomous city of
Gaza on Wednesday. PA Chief Yassir Arafat was on hand to greet the
ruler of the Hashemite Kingdom. Arafat and the king discussed the Oslo
process with Israel, with the king expressing his wishes to establish
himself as a mediator between Israel and the PA. Arafat reportedly
expressed his support for a five-way summit to include the leaders of
Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan even before Prime Minister-elect,
Ehud Barak, forms his new government. A five-way summit has the
backing of Egypt and Jordan, but might be difficult to convene because
of long-standing hostility between Arafat and Syrian President Hafez
el-Assad. PA officials are concerned that Israel's desire to withdraw
from the security zone of southern Lebanon will pressure the new
government into negotiating a deal with the governments of Lebanon and
Syria, possibly leaving the Oslo process and the PA on the backburner.
Abdullah's trip Wednesday was his first to the autonomous areas. An
accomplished pilot like his father, the late King Hussein, Abdullah
sat in the cockpit when his Tri-Star jet landed at Gaza International
Airport.
Arabs increasing moslem presence in Jerusalem

Thu May 27 , 1999 -- MK Toufik Khatib of the United Arab List is
working to revive mosques located throughout the capital. The mosques,
many of which have been standing idle since the establishment of the
state, are located in various Jerusalem neighborhoods. Working in
conjunction with leaders of the Islamic Movement, the MK is calling
for the renovation of the abandoned houses of worship in order to
strengthen the Moslem presence throughout Jerusalem. Joined by a
delegation of Rabbis for Human Rights the MK, accompanied by Um
el-Fahm Mayor Ra'ed al-Salah visited the Ein Kerem Mosque, they then
recited prayers. A spokesman for the rabbinical organization told
reporters that he was upset to find the inside of the mosque was
littered with trash, graffiti, and garbage. Rabbi Arik Asherman stated
the religious site should be respected by all. MK Khatib pointed a
finger of blame at the Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Ministry
of Religious Affairs. Khatib also called for the reopening of the
Malha mosque to permit laborers employed at the nearby Malha Shopping
Mall a house of worship for their daily prayers.

Two Fascinating Historic Interviews With NikolaTesla
From Beth Hughes <BetHughes@aol.com>
From EWAR-L@sonic.net www.sonic.net
5-27-99
This article on Tesla was printed in The New
York Times, December 8, 1915. It is referenced in
the Eastlund patent
records (#4,686,605) for the HAARP.
NEW YORK TIMES - December 8, 1915:
"Nikola Tesla, the inventor, has filed patent
applications on the essential parts of a machine the
possibilities of which test a layman's imagination and
promise a parallel of Thor's shooting thunderbolts
from the sky to punish those who had angered the gods.
Suffice it to say that the invention will go through
space with a speed of 300 MILES PER SECOND, a manless
ship without propelling engine or wings, sent by
electricity to any desired point on the globe on its
errand of destruction, if destruction its manipulator
wishes to effect."
[that is 18,000 miles per minute which is around our
globe in under a minute and a half - or aimed directly
through the globe - as most of Testla's patents were
claimed to do - in 27 seconds. beth]
"'It is not a time,' said Dr. Tesla yesterday, 'to go
into the details of this thing. It is founded upon a
principle that means great things in peace; it can be
used for great things in war. But I repeat, this is no
time to talk of such things.'
'It is perfectly practicable to transmit electrical
energy without wires and produce destructive effects
at a distance. I have already constructed a wireless
transmitter which makes this possible, and have
described it in my technical publications, among which
/ refer to my patent number 1,1 19,732 recently
granted.
With a transmitter of this kind we are enabled to
project electrical energy IN ANY AMOUNT TO ANY
DISTANCE [HAARP's output is a full gigawatt, b] and
apply it for innumerable purposes, both in war and
peace.
Through the universal adoption of this system, ideal
conditions for the maintenance of law and order will
be realized, for then the energy necessary to the
enforcement of right and justice will be normally
productive, yet potential, and in any moment
available, for attack and defense. The power
transmitted need not be necessarily destructive, for,
if distance is made to depend upon it, its withdrawal
or supply will bring about the same results as those
now accomplished by force of arms.'"
- NEW YORK TIMES December 8, 1915
_____________
An article referenced in Eastlund's patent application
for the device now known as HAARP ran in the New York
Times on September 22, 1940 and reads as follows:
NEW YORK TIMES - September 22, 1940:
"Nikola Tesla, one of the truly great inventors who
celebrated his eighty-fourth birthday on July 10,
tells the writer that he stands ready to divulge to
the United States Government the secret of his
"teleforce," with which, he said, airplane motors
would be melted at a distance of 250 miles, so that an
invisible Chinese Wall of Defense would be built
around the country.
"This teleforce, he said, is based on an entirely new
principle of physics that 'no one has ever dreamed
about,' different from the principle embodied in his
inventions relating to the transmission of electrical
power from a distance, for which he has received a
number of basic patents. This new type of force, Mr.
Tesla said, would operate through a beam one
hundred-millionth of a square centimeter in diameter,
and could be generated from s special plant that would
cost no more than $2,000,000 and would take only about
three months to construct.
"The beam, he states, involves four new inventions,
two of which already have been tested. One of these is
a method of apparatus for producing rays 'and other
manifestations or energy' in free air, eliminating the
necessity for a high vacuum; a second is a method and
process for producing 'very great electrical force';
the third is a method for amplifying this force, and
the fourth is a new method for producing 'a tremendous
electrical repelling force.' This would be the
projector, or gun, of the system. The voltage for
propelling the beam to its objective, according to the
inventor, will attain a potential of 50,000,000 volts.
"With this enormous voltage, he said, microscopic
electrical particles of matter will be catapulted on
their mission of defensive destruction. He has been
working on this invention, he added, for many years
and has recently made a number of improvements in it."

Bilderberg - international interest gathers momentum over
"revelations" in The News
Sintra "summit" agenda leaked
The tentative agenda for the Bilderberg meeting scheduled for
June 3 to June 6 at the Penha Longa resort in Sintra has been
revealed to The News by an internationally respected and long-
serving Canadian researcher on the activities of this group.
Amongst matters on the agenda are: Global governance,
including a review on the progress in the formation of an Asian
bloc under the leadership of Japan; The Kosovo war, including
the formation of an "independent" Kosovo; The ultimate
replacement of NATO with a Western European Army and the
appointment of a Y2K (Year 2000) Czar (Mikhail Gorbachev could
be a front runner for this post) to oversee global passage
through the Y2K Emergency which they feel will be much worse
than expected. Meanwhile, the only official "comment" The News
could manage to obtain, was from the Bilderberg European Press
Office in Amsterdam, confirming that just one press release will
be issued on the first day of the "summit" (June 3).
The News is today publishing, for the first time anywhere in the
world, reliable indications of the agenda items for this year's
meeting. The items on the agenda should however be treated as
"tentative" and "flexible", and confirmation from the group itself
is not possible due to its secretive nature.
John K. Whitley, an internationally respected researcher into the
Bilderberg movement, has sent us what is reliably believed to be
the Sintra agenda. The items are as credible as they can be at this
late stage and, bearing in mind the secrecy of this group, it could
have been already altered somewhat since the last contact was
made with a Bilderberger insider. The entire agenda will be
printed in the Toronto-based New World Order Intelligence
Update later this week at
http://www.inforamp.net/~jwhitley/bild98.htm
The first point open for discussion in Sintra will be the review of
the progress being made in the formation of an Asian bloc under
the leadership of Japan. Free trade, a single currency and a
political union similar to the European Union is planned for the
region. The installation of an American Union is up for
discussion, this being similar to the E.U, with a quick review of
the scheduled splintering of Canada. This theme was originally
scheduled for discussion in 1997, though the proposed break-up
of Canada has been reportedly facilitated by the presence of a
Canadian media magnate and alleged Bilderberger.
Next on the agenda, and more contemporary, is the Kosovo war.
The Bilderberg meeting will include discussions on the formation
of a greater Albanian state following "trusteeship" of an
"independent" Kosovo, the dismemberment of Yugoslavia (by
the return of its northern province, which has 350,000 ethnic
Hungarians, to Hungary) as part of a general re-drawing of
borders in the region (calculated to continue regional instability
and conflict), and the reconstruction worth billions of dollars of
the destroyed regional infrastructure at western tax payers'
expense.
Another item is the ultimate replacement of NATO with a
Western European Army, probably sooner than later due to the
bad press NATO has endured over this current campaign. Efforts
will be made to speed up the transformation of the W.E.U into a
credible European military force initially relying on American
back up. This will complete American military disengagement
from Western Europe and leave US forces available for wider
global policing, if necessary, with W.E.U. backup in return (first
reported on the Bilderberg plan in the 1996 Bilderberg report).
The key point here is that the Bilderbergers win no matter what
happens to NATO - if it survives a little longer, they can use it as
an emergency global police force; if it loses credibility over the
Kosovo affair, then they just accelerate its replacement in Europe
with the W.E.U. which they planned on doing anyway.
Bilderbergers are said to be extremely concerned about the global
impact of, and opportunities offered by, the Y2K problem (which
the Bilderbergers believe to be far worse than many people have
realised). The alleged presence of Bill Gates at the Sintra meeting
may substantiate this claim. On the possible appointment of a
Y2K Czar to oversee global passage through the "Y2K
Emergency" (one name repeatedly coming up as the most likely
candidate here is Mikhail Gorbachev, whose international
standing would win him ready acceptance).
Other key topics so far are said to be some oil items and financial
affairs (IMF, U.S. economy and stock market, gold market
manipulation).
With the meeting now only a few days away, nothing has
appeared in the Portuguese, European or international media,
though the internet is 'alive' with speculation. One international
press agency in Lisbon is reported to have said that it has been
waiting for the international press to request stories or photos,
yet so far not one single request has been received from
anywhere.
The wall of silence remains impregnable - almost!
Stop Press:
As The News went to press on Thursday we received two
additional agenda items from John Whitley.
1. Preparation for a "mid-East peace settlement" (ie - the
declaration of a Palestinian State and the final disposition of
Jerusalem - quote: "The results for Israel will not be good.") This
explains the heavy emphasis on Israeli and international Jewish
representation, plus the attendance of key representatives of
Arab regimes which are implacably opposed to Israel - quote:
"The deal on Jerusalem has already been done, and the Golan
issue is being ironed out right now."
2. Global taxation in support of the UN, as the emerging "global
governance" centre, to begin with a world-wide tax on e-
commerce (this may be why the CEO's of so many key computer
companies, including Bill Gates, are in attendance) and to be
followed by an individual direct tax collected on the UN's behalf
by national governments.

Lebanese President in Jordan
AMMAN (AFP) -- Lebanese President Emile Lahoud
arrived here Saturday for talks with Jordan's King
Abdallah, the first such visit in over 10 years.
The president was welcomed at the airport by the
Hashemite monarch before heading off to start their
talks.
The two leaders are expected to discuss ways of
coordinating a common Arab approach to the Middle
East peace process following the election of Labor
leader Ehud Barak as Israel's prime minister on May
17.
The talks are due to touch on Israel's occupation of
south Lebanon and other regional issues as well as
bilateral trade.
Following Barak's election, the Palestinians have
been making efforts to convene a summit with the Arab
states most directly concerned by the Middle East
peace process -- Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
Barak has pledged to withdraw from Lebanon within a
year and resume peace negotiations with Lebanon and
Syria.
Lahoud's visit is only his second trip outside
Lebanon since taking office on November, and the
first by a Lebanese president to Jordan since 1987.
In February he visited Syria, the main power broker
in Lebanon.

Title: Number Patterns in Scripture
Submitted by: Susan Kanen <kanen@ptialaska.net>
Updated: May 29, 1999
Number Patterns in Scripture
by Susan Kanen
Have you noticed how often certain numbers appear together in
Scripture passages? Information that is not hidden in Hebrew or
Greek letter values or in letters found after repeated spacings, but
right on the surface as words in the text. A number code available
to anyone who can read. The numbers 7, 12, 40, and 50 occur
frequently within the same Bible passage. God as the master
mathematician talks in number patterns. To begin a discussion on
number patterns in Scriptures, first we need to see the pattern,
then ask what does it mean?
The numbers 7, 12, 40, and 50 are used right on the surface of the
text in Bible stories (7 days of creation, 7 candles, 12 shewbread,
12 disciples, 40 days and nights of rain, 40 years of wandering, 50
days of Pentecost etc.). Often studies on Bible numbers proceed
by ascribing certain attributes to each number; listing each
number in turn with a brief paragraph. But let us limit our search
to the numbers 7, 12, 40, and 50.
Halley in his Bible Commentary, writing of the 12 disciples: (p.
465 1965 edition):
"Why Jesus chose Twelve we do not know. Of these, three were
an inner group. Besides the 12, he sent out 70 on a special errand.
3, 12, and 70 figure largely in Scripture symbolism. 12 tribes of
Israel were the foundation of the Hebrew nation. 12 Apostles laid
the foundation of the Church. Moses had 70 elders. Sanhedrin
had 70 members. These numbers may have some mystic meaning
unknown to us."
Mr. Halley how right! More 7's listed by Halley's are: every 7th
day a Sabbath, every 7th year a Sabbatic year, every 7th Sabbatic
year was followed by Jubilee year, every 7th month was
especially holy-having 3 feasts, there were 7 weeks between
Passover and Pentecost, Passover Feast lasted 7 days,
Tabernacles Feast lasted 7 days, at Passover 14 lambs were
offered daily, at Tabernacles 14 lambs daily and 70 bullocks, at
Pentecost 7 lambs were offered.
Ivan Panin earlier this century, has written marvelous accounts of
the numeric symmetry of the Scriptures particularly regarding the
number seven. The mathematical probabilities of this all
happening by chance are so remote that he believed his writings
constituted scientific proof of God. E. W. Bullinger author of
Number in Scripture, writes that "we have but touched the fringe
of this great and important subject."
Even outside the Bible, you can see this pattern (7, 12, 40, and 50)
in the organization of time (7 days a week, 12 months a year, 40
years per generation, 50 year jubilee), 7 colors in the rainbow, 7
seas and continents, 12 divisions to the sky, an octave of piano
notes has 7 white keys and 12 notes total, and gestational
periods in multiples of 7 (man's is 7x40, sheep 21x7, dog 9x7, cat
8x7, hen 3x7, lion 7x7x3).
Why did God bother with a number pattern at all? God has not
used numbers haphazardly -every word is there intentionally.
Why should Bible number patterns be studied and interpreted at
all? Perhaps the strongest answer is because the pattern is there
and if God chose to speak to us this way, we should choose to
listen. In the book of Revelation, seven times God said let him
that has ears to hear, hear what the spirit says to the churches.
To communicate, we need to recognize language patterns:
sounds, letters, words, phrases, etc. Words have meaning
according to how they are used in relationship to each other.
We have not recognized numbers as symbols, their use as letters
to form "words" and as a language to communicate. Authors of
this subject usually give one meaning to each number, but we
don't use letters that way. The question should be: why have we
not studied this number pattern before? Otherwise what
difference could it make for the story? Who cares how many
brothers, sisters, or days, or years, times to sprinkle the ark,
numbers of candles, stars, stalks of wheat. God is marking His
message with numbers in the hope we will ask why does God
bother to number how many sneezes. There is a pattern for
redemption; we just haven't seen it but it is there. It is not hidden
at all, just sealed until we seek to find it.
Perhaps God uses number patterns because they translate into
any language without perversion over time. God speaks of things
such as DNA, chromosomes, conception, egg, sperm, and the
passage of time in a number language. These things were alluded
to before man had words or knowledge to describe wonders yet
undiscovered. God is indeed a "Wonderful Numberer" as spoken
of by Daniel.
There is great interest today in hidden Bible Codes where
messages are concealed in evenly spaced letters found by
computer searches. To prove this to be true requires careful
statistical analysis beyond the reach of most Bible students. This
study doesn't deal with formulas that need the help of
sophisticated computer software but deals with the surface text
of the Bible.
These four numbers, 7, 12, 40, 50 are like a simple "alphabet" of
God's number language. Some passages have some of these
numbers and some have three: 7, 12, 40. The analysis of
probability is simple. The chances of choosing a number at
random is 1 out of the total. For example the chances of getting a
6 with one throw of the dice is 1 out of 6. To get two sixes out of
two throws the chances are 1 out of 6X6 or 1 out of 36. If the
numbers in Bible stories are random and without God's direction
the probability of getting a 7, then 12, then 40 in a given story is 1
out of 7X12X40 or one out of 3360. Twelve of the main persons
and events of the Bible have all three numbers of the pattern. The
probability of the Bible's main twelve stories having all three
numbers is less than 1 out of 40,000 (7X12X40X12).
Within the main twelve events surrounding Jesus, Elijah, Moses,
Elisha, Ezekiel, David, Solomon, Jacob, Joshua, Paul, the return
from exile, and Jonah; there is imprinted three numbers (7, 12, 40).
Only the Tabernacle/Temple, Moses, Elijah/Elisha, and the
Miracle Feeding with Loaves and Fishes have all four. Maybe
God is trying to tell us something here. The challenge is to see
the pattern and then ask what does it mean. Jesus makes this
challenge as He discusses the miracles of the loaves and fishes:
Mark 8:19-21 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand
(50X100), how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They
say unto him, Twelve. [20] And when the seven among four
thousand (40X100), how many baskets full of fragments took ye
up? And they said, Seven. [21] And he said unto them, How is it
that ye do not understand?
God is speaking in a number language. In Mark, Jesus is
disappointed that the disciples have not understood yet. By the
time God speaks in Revelation, He doesn't hold back using
numbers to communicate. Sevens and twelves adorn the whole
book. The pattern multiplies like a fractal throughout the Bible:
twelve women have seven associated with their lives, twelve men
are mentioned in groups of twelve, twelve time periods are
mentioned for 40 days (not counting unrighteous mocking by
Goliath) and 12 periods of 40 years.
This discussion should generate the question, "What does the
number pattern 7, 12, 40, 50 symbolize?" How God uses numbers
can help us to hear what is closest to His heart. We do not hear
because we really are not listening to what He is saying. Much of
what is really on the surface of His Word regarding the use of
numbers goes unnoticed. Noting God's use of numbers may open
a door to the mysteries of God and His Holiness. For instance, we
need to concentrate more on the first part of this oft quoted verse
on the number 666:
REV 13:18
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the
number ....
Actually the original question of this study is: What does it mean
to be born spiritually? The author believes God answered by
pointing out a number pattern throughout Scripture. This pattern
does not change from Genesis to Revelation. This fact adds to a
conviction that the Scriptures are divinely inspired. Since no men
had control over all the persons and events that are recorded,
numbers could not be controlled by man. Since they are not
randomly distributed, God must have placed them intentionally to
speak to us. As Christians, we know we are to be the Bride of
Christ, we need to learn His language. Throughout Scriptures,
God has apparently chosen to mark His message with numbers.
This is spiritually speaking, a kindergarten lesson that as it is
mastered can open up understanding throughout the Bible. Once
the pattern is understood many Bible stories with numbers in
them can be comprehended more fully.
These numbers are imprinted in our physical bodies in human
reproductive cycles: 12 monthly cycles/year and conception
occurring on the 14th (2x7) day of the female's cycle, and a
gestational period of 280 (40x7). Zola Levitt has a video and a
book on the Feast Cycle mirroring the development of the child in
the womb. Right to Life describes the womb as a sanctuary.
Perhaps an interpretation of the symbolism surrounding the
Tabernacle and its function and this number pattern in Scriptures
is that they symbolize and parallel reproduction as we know it in
the physical world.
Inside the curtains of the Holiest Place atop the Mercy Seat is the
shadow of the pattern showing the beginning of life in the
spiritual sense - a conception. We know a lot more about the
facts of physical conception than ever before. We can use this to
understand the symbols in the Tabernacle and ultimately our
own redemption (conception) in the Spirit as we are born again in
Christ. This author has been seeking the Lord on this question
about the analogy of spiritual and physical birth since April 1991.
If we are spiritually "born," who is father, mother, where is the
womb, how long till we are "born" after conceived etc.?
Another key to interpretation is the parable of the sower. The
seed (sperma in Greek) or the Word of God is the male element.
Tabernacle, Temple, Upper Room were types of the female
element even to the point that the floor plans resembled female
anatomy. The Feast Cycles based on the moon were feminine as
well. Reproduction and the use of a number pattern become a
type of Rosetta Stone (the stone dictionary with several
languages used to translate hieroglyphics) to understand the
meaning of spiritual birth. Physical reproduction could be used to
understand spiritual redemption. The number pattern 7, 12, 40, 50,
describes throughout all of Scripture how spiritual birth is like
physical birth--Jesus said, "marvel not, you must be born again."
Realizing that the Tabernacle represents the location of
conception; what is the meaning of 7 candlesticks and 12
shewbread? If this is the type for the place of conception, which
side is male which is female? Psalm 119:105 says thy Word
(sperma) is a lamp (the special lampstand or the menorah of
seven candles). That is it! Seven is symbolic of the male type!
Twelve of the female. Forty times seven days for human
gestation. Don't let this bother you that 12 disciples were
physically male--spiritually they are the female type of the Bride
of Christ. Washings and purifications were repeatedly stated to
be done 7x--a male type in the same way an egg is bathed in seed
at conception. Jesus said to pray "our Father" and God as Father
established the seven day week of creation setting the pattern for
the beginning of life with the number seven as maleness. For life
to occur there is the union of two elements- one male and one
female. In the beginning, there was a separation-heaven (God's
domain- male) from earth (female). To bring life and redemption,
God spoke over 7 days and His Testimony (same root word as
testosterone) brought life to the earth (female). Here what is seem
from space (earth) and what is seen under the microscope (egg)
appear to be a similar form. Jesus' genealogy is full of sevens (see
Panin's work) as we are told of the Savior's birth. Interestingly,
the Heavens are divided into 12 signs of the Zodiac and the earth
is divided into 7 continents.
