Miscellaneous Notes From Daniel And Revelation
Sennacherib As A Type Of Antichrist
(Reference JFB = Jamieson-Fausett-Brown Commentary where used)
Sennecherib and Isaiah's Prophecy of The Birth Of Christ
It is interesting that Isaiah prophesied the birth of Christ in the time
Assyrian rule, and if Assyria rises in the last days, it would be in the
time of Christ's second coming as well.
* Isaiah prophesied from 740 to 700 BCE, with the the birth of Christ
prophesied some say around 701 BCE.
* Sennecherib's seige of Jerusalem in the time of Hezekiah (2 Chron 32),
about 713 BC.
The Assyrian Empire Hdden In The First Beast Of Daniel
THE LION-PHASIS OF THE KINGDOM OF BABYLON
"The Beasts being substituted for the metals of Nebuchadnezzar's Image,
they represent of course the same phases of the Kingdom of Men. We learn
from Jeremiah that the powers of Nineveh and Babylon were each represented
by lions. He says, "Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven them
away: 'first the King of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this
Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon hath broken his bones" (Jer. 50:17). The
Ninevite Assyrian was represented to Daniel as a lion with eagle's wings.
Many years before, the Deity had punished the King of Assyria and his land
for scattering the Ten Tribes, by transferring the dominion over the
Nimroudian empire from Nineveh to Babylon. This revolution is represented
by the eagle-wings being "plucked" from the lion's back; while the lion
itself was made to stand erect as a man, and to receive in exchange for its
lion-heart, the heart of a man. Thus the Lion-Man became the symbol of the
Kingdom of Babylon so long as the government continued in the family of
Nebuchadnezzar; which with all its faults was more human than that which it

The eagle's head was the god of Sennecherib, Nisroch, with the lion being a
symbol of Assyria, depicting Assyria in the first beast:
Dan 7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings:
Then the wings were plucked and the lion caused to stand on its feet and
given the heart of a man (teh king of Babylon):>
Dan 7:4 . . . I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was
lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a
man's heart was given to it.
It is said Babylon was not equal to the terror with which Sennecherib and
Assyrian kings treated the other nations around them. I have also read that
often other empires' kings were called the king of Babylon besides the
kings that reigned over actual Babylon. This is often confusing to me, but
that helped my understanding some.
Sennacherib's Kingdom And The Feet Of Clay
Feet of clay - I thought this was interesting considering the feet of clay
in Daniel 2 and the statue:
Dan 2:33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
Dan 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which
smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to
pieces.
Dan 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold,
broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer
threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found
for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and
filled the whole earth.
Could this have anything to with the statue in Daniel two?:
Nahum 3:14 Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go
into clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brickkiln.
Sennacherib Blasphemed The God Of Judah
New Testament
Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast:
and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is
able to make war with him?
Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and
blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his
name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to
overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and
nations.
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names
are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation
of the world.
Old Testament
2 Ki 18:32 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a
land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive
and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah,
when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.
2 Ki 18:33 Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land
out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
2 Ki 18:34 Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods
of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?
2 Ki 18:35 Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have
delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver
Jerusalem out of mine hand?
2 Chr 32:11 Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die
by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of
the hand of the king of Assyria?
2 Chr 32:12 Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his
altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before
one altar, and burn incense upon it?
2 Chr 32:13 Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people
of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able
to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
2 Chr 32:14 Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my
fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand,
that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
2 Chr 32:15 Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on
this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom
was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my
fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand? 2 Chr
32:16 And his servants spake yet more against the LORD God, and against his
servant Hezekiah.
2 Chr 32:17 He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to
speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have
not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of
Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
2 Chr 32:18 Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech unto the
people of Jerusalem that were on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble
them; that they might take the city.
2 Chr 32:19 And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the
gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.
2 Chr 32:20 And for this cause Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah
the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.
Sennacherib's Army Was As The "Locust of Locusts" (King), His Princes Crowned
Are there great similarities here in the fifth trumpet?
Nahum 3:13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of
thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour
thy bars.
Nahum 3:14 Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go
into clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brickkiln.
Nahum 3:15 There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off,
it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the
cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
Nahum 3:16 Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven:
the cankerworm spoileth, and fleeth away.
Nahum 3:17 Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great
grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun
ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
Nahum 3:18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell
in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man
gathereth them.
* "3:17. THY CROWNED--Thy princes (@Re 9:7). The king's nobles and officers
wore the tiara, AS WELL AS THE KING; hence they are called here "thy
crowned ones."
* "as the locusts--as many as the swarming locusts (emphasis mine, Ed).
* "thy captains--Tiphsar, an Assyrian word; found also in @Jer 51:27,
meaning "satraps [MICHAELIS]; or rather, "military leaders" [MAURER]. The
last syllable, sar means a "prince," and is found in Belshaz-zar,
Nabopolas-sar, Nebuchadnez-zar.
* "as the great grasshoppers--literally, "as the locust of locusts," that
is, the largest locust. MAURER translates, "as many as locusts upon
locusts," that is, swarms of locusts. Hebrew idiom favors English Version.
* "in the hedges in the cold--Cold deprives the locust of the power of
flight; so they alight in cold weather and at night, but when warmed by the
sun soon "flee away." So shall the Assyrian multitudes suddenly disappear,
not leaving a trace behind (compare PLINY, Natural History, 11.29)" (JFB).
Remembering the pit of locusts in the fifth trumpet and that Sennacherib, a
king wearing a crown, was killed with a sword, these verses from Isaiah
becomes very important:
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and
as the raiment of those that are slain, THRUST THROUGH WITH A SWORD, THAT
GO DOWN TO THE STONES OF THE PIT; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Nahum 3:17 Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great
grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun
ariseth they flee away, and THEIR PLACE IS NOT KNOWN WHERE THEY ARE.
Nahum 3:18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell
in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man
gathereth them.
The similarities here to the fifth trumpet, I think, are outstanding. These
are quite interesting passages considering Joel prophesied of the Assyrian
and mentioned locusts as the Lord's army at the end of the age. The Lord
often used other nations as His servants to try to bring Israel to
repentance through chastisements.
One last point is the wearing of a crown by Sennacherib who went out to
conquer and to conquer in his time. He, as was, as was Antiochus, on a
campaign against Egypt when he to "heard a rumor" and turned around and
went to Jerusalem.
Sennacherib (Or Ninevah's) Grave Was Made By The Lord
In Nahum 1:14, it is the Lord assigning Sennecharib (or Ninevah) his (its)
grave, like maybe a pit or somethng, although history records Sennecherib
was slain in the temple at Ninevah with the sword by his two sons after the
Lord turned him away from beseiging Jerusalem?:
Nahum 1:14 And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no
more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the
graven image and the molten image: I WILL MAKE THY GRAVE; for thou art vile.
Sennacherib's Capital Ninevah And Her Whoredoms
Nahum 3:4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured
harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her
whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.
I won't insert the verses here, but we are all familair with Mystery
Babylon in Revelation 17.
Sennacherib's Army Was Slain By An Angel Of The Lord
New Testament
Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that
sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth
judge and make war. . . .
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he
treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. . . .
Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their
armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse,
and against his army. . . .
Rev 19:21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon
the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were
filled with their flesh.
Old Testament
2 Chr 32:21 And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of
valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So
he returned with shame of face to his own land. . . .
Sennacherib Commanded the Jews Dead Bodies Lay In The Streets
Sennacherib hated the Jews so much that he would kill them and leave their
bodies lay in the streets and not allow them to be buried!
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city,
which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was
crucified.
Rev 11:9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall
see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their
dead bodies to be put in graves.
"Being so terribly overthrown by the blast of Yahweh, Sennacherib returned
with the remnant of his shattered forces to Nineveh. His hatred of Israel
was enhanced by his late disaster. Instead of making peace with them, and
doing homage to Yahweh their God by whom he had been expelled from Judea,
he was filled with rage and cruelty against them. Multitudes of them
resided in Nineveh, and its subject cities. Every day he caused great
numbers of them to be massacred, and their bodies to be left exposed in the
streets and broadways, forbidding any man to bury them"

Sennacherib Was Slain By The Sword
"his sons smote him with the sword--Sennacherib's temper, exasperated
probably by his reverses, displayed itself in the most savage cruelty and
intolerable tyranny over his subjects and slaves, till at length he was
assassinated by his two sons, whom, it is said, he intended to sacrifice to
pacify the gods and dispose them to grant him a return of prosperity. The
parricides taking flight into Armenia, a third son, Esar-haddon, ascended
the throne (JFB, 2Kgs 19:37)."
New Testament
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his
deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from
heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those
miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them
that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which
had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Old Testament
2 Ki 19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus
saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with
which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
2 Ki 19:7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour,
and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword
in his own land.
2 Chr 32:21 . . . . So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And
when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own
bowels slew him there with the sword.
Isa 37:38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of
Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the
sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esarhaddon his son
reigned in his stead.
In the following verses from Isaiah, both the king of Babylon and the King
of Assyria are spoken of, but it seems obvious to me that the Lord is
speaking to the king of Assyria as the one who went down into the pit. Is
this the Lord "making his grave" as the previous verses said?:
Isa 14:1 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel,
and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with
them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
Isa 14:2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and
the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants
and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were;
and they shall rule over their oppressors.
Isa 14:3 And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee
rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein
thou wast made to serve.
Isa 14:4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon,
and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
Isa 14:5 The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of
the rulers.
Isa 14:6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that
ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.
Isa 14:7 The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into
singing.
Isa 14:8 Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon,
saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
Isa 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it
stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it
hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
Isa 14:10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak
as we? art thou become like unto us?
Isa 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy
viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I
will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount
of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the
most High.
Isa 14:15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Isa 14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider
thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did
shake kingdoms;
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities
thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Isa 14:18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory,
every one in his own house.
Isa 14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and
as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that
go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.
Isa 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast
destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never
be renowned.
Sennacherib To Be "Resurrected" Out Of The Pit In The Last Days?
Do we have, in the following verses, a "resurrection" or ascension out of
the pit by the king of Babylon, in light of the following plans the Lord
has for the whole earth involving the king of Assyrian?:
Isa 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought,
so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
Isa 14:25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains
tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his
burden depart from off their shoulders.
Isa 14:26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and
this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.
Isa 14:27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it?
and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?
In Danel we read,
Dan 9:27 KJV And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and
in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to
cease, and for THE OVERSPREADING OF ABOMINATIONS he shall make it desolate,
even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the
desolate.
The NIV says,
Dan 9:27 NIV He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the
middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on
a WING OF THE TEMPLE HE will set up an abomination that causes desolation,
until the end that is decreed is poured out
This verse sounds very much like the flood the devil pours out on the woman
in Revelation 12 and the spreading of the king of Assyria's abominations
all over the area of Jerusalem:
Isa 8:4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my
mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away
before the king of Assyria.
Isa 8:5 The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,
Isa 8:6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go
softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;
Isa 8:7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of
the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory:
and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
Isa 8:8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he
shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall
fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
Sennacherib's End Type Of All Israel's Foes
Micah, for instance, clearly predicts that it is the Assyrian that will
invade the land of Israel in the last days:
Micah 5:1 Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid
siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the
cheek.
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the
thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to
be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from
everlasting.
Micah 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which
travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall
return unto the children of Israel.
Micah 5:4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the
majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now
shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
Micah 5:5 And this man shall be the peace, WHEN THE ASSYRIAN SHALL COME
INTO OUR LAND: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise
against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
Micah 5:6 AND THEY SHALL WASTE THE LAND OF ASSYRIA WITH THE SWORD, AND THE
LAND OF NIMROD IN THE ENTRANCES THEREOF: THUS SHALL HE DELIVER US FROM THE
ASSYRIAN, WHEN HE COMETH INTO OUR LAND, AND WHEN HE TREADETH WITHIN OUR
BORDERS.
Micah 5:7 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as
a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for
man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
Micah 5:8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst
of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion
among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and
teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
Micah 5:9 Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all
thine enemies shall be cut off.
Micah 5:10 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I
will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy
chariots:
Micah 5:11 And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all
thy strong holds:
Micah 5:12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt
have no more soothsayers:
Micah 5:13 Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images
out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine
hands.
Micah 5:14 And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will
I destroy thy cities.
Micah 5:15 And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen,
such as they have not heard.
Verse 5 "the Assyrian--Being Israel's most powerful foe at that time,
Assyria is made the representative of all the foes of Israel in all ages,
who shall receive their final destruction at Messiah's appearing (Eze
38:1-23"; JFB).
Sennacherib Spoken Of As Fig Shaken From A Tree
Nahum 3:12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe
figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was
a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the
moon became as blood;
Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree
casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
Sennacherib Type Of Final End By Fire
Isaiah declared Sennacherib's end:
Isa 30:27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his
anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation,
and his tongue as a devouring fire:
Isa 30:28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the
midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there
shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.
Isa 30:29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is
kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the
mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.
Isa 30:30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and
shall show the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger,
and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and
hailstones.
Isa 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten
down, which smote with a rod.
Isa 30:32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the
LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles
of shaking will he fight with it.
Isa 30:33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared;
he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the
breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
"Verses 27-33. God curbs and restrains from doing mischief. With a word he
guides his people into the right way, but with a bridle he turns his
enemies upon their own ruin. Here, in threatening the ruin of Sennacherib's
army, the prophet points at the final and everlasting destruction of all
impenitent sinners. Tophet was a valley near Jerusalem, where fires were
continually burning to destroy things that were hurtful and offensive, and
there the idolatrous Jews caused their children to pass through the fire to
Moloch. This denotes the certainty of the destruction, as an awful emblem
of the place of torment in the other world. No oppressor shall escape the
Divine wrath. Let sinners then flee to Christ, seeking to be reconciled to
Him, that they may be safe and happy, when destruction from the Almighty
shall sweep away all the workers of iniquity" (Matthew Henry Commentary).

This beating of the tamborrine will be a day of rejoicing over God's final
defeat of the remnant's enemies.
Sennacherib's sons's son did away with all other gods and declared himself
the only god:
"Esarhaddon was succeeded by his son Sasduchinus, who is styled in
scripture Nebuchod-onosor. This man carried the controversy of the Winged
Lion of Nineveh against Yahweh, to its ne plus ultra of impiety. He made
proclamation that "He was the lord of the whole earth;" and decreed the
destruction of all the gods of the land, "that all nations should worship
Nebuchodonosor only, and that all tongues and tribes should call upon him
as god." This was assuming the position of the Antichrist of modern times.
He commissioned Holofernes, the generalissimo of his forces, to go through
all the countries of the West with 120,000 infantry, and 12,000 mounted
bowmen, to reduce them to an obedient recognition of his godship. This
vicegerent of the Ninevite Deity entered upon his mission with great zeal
in the service of his lord, who swore "by his life, and by the power of his
kingdom, that whatsoever he had spoken he would do by the power of his
hand." Wherever the Ninevite forces appeared, everything belonging to the
rebellious was wasted and destroyed. The gods of the nations were
abolished, the groves cut down, and the worship of Nebuchodonosor the First
established on their ruin.
"But the little kingdom of Judah, confiding in Yahweh to whom it belonged,
refused to acknowledge the Anti-Yahweh pretensions of the old lion, and
prepared for war. Achior, the chief of the Ammonites, advised Holofernes to
avoid a contest with the Jews, "lest their Lord should defend them." This
counsel, however, was opposed by the other chiefs, because "Israel was a
people that had no strength, nor power for a strong battle." The clamour
against Achior having subsided, Holofernes said, "Who art thou, Achior, and
the hirelings of Ephraim, that thou hast prophesied among us today, and has
said that we should not make war with the people of Israel, because their
God will defend them? And who is God but Nebuchodonosor? He will send his
power, and will destroy them from the face of the earth, and their God
shall not deliver them; but we his servants will destroy them as one man;
for they are not able to sustain the power of our horses. For with them we
will tread them under foot, and their mountains shall be drunken with their
blood, and their fields shall be filled with their dead bodies, and their
footsteps shall not be able to stand before us, for they shall utterly
perish, saith king Nebuchodonosor, lord of all the earth; for he said, None
of my words shall be in vain.
"This however, was one of those "lies" of which Nahum says, Nineveh was
"full;" for many days did not pass over ere Holofernes was a headless
corpse by the hand of a Hebrew woman; and their encampment in the plain of
Megiddo, the scene of confusion, slaughter, and dismay. Bethulia's widow,
the feeble and beautiful Judith, by the help of Yahweh, silenced the vain
boasting of the "god," whose myriads "perished by the battle of
Yahweh."(Ibid.).
Nebuchodonosor the First, then is a type of antichirst who declares himself
to be God.
God And The Controversy Over Sion" With Sennacherib
Isa 34:8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of
recompenses for the controversy of Zion.
2 Ki 19:32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He
shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it
with shield, nor cast a bank against it.
2 Ki 19:33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall
not come into this city, saith the LORD.
He didn't enter the city because the Lord slew his army just as he did to
the Egyptians the night of the Passover, a type of Jesus' second coming:
2 Ki 19:35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went
out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five
thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all
dead corpses.
2 Ki 19:36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned,
and dwelt at Nineveh.
2 Ki 19:37 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of
Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the
sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son
reigned in his stead.
We most often speak of Babylon as having great influence over the empires
that followed it, but the Assyrian culture was almost fully absorbed by
Babylon from what I've been reading. I have read that it is the failure of
Sennacherib to be successful in his attempt to conquer Jerusalem that a
contention exists between the Lord and the Assyrian king over who has the
right to rule over Jerusalem, Sennacherib's god, Nisroch, or Yahweh. It is
said that this is the contention that will played out to a final end at the
end of the age. The scriptures from Micah and Isaiah 14 seem to verify that.
Miscellaneous Notes
Isa 37:19 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods,
but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed
them. Isa 37:20 Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that
all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.
37:19. cast . . . gods into . . . fire--The policy of the Assyrians in
order to alienate the conquered peoples from their own countries was, both
to deport them elsewhere, and to destroy the tutelary idols of their
nation, the strongest tie which bound them to their native land. The Roman
policy was just the reverse.
I thought this an interesting commentary note by JFB. Sennacherib
considered the God of Israel as just another heathen god along with the
rest, and he destroyed the places of their sanctuary. Rome, on the the
other hand, used the pagan places to compromise the true God by building
shrines and churches on pagan sites. The antichrist helps the Jews get
their temple in the beginning of the 70th week, but at mid-week, desolates
the temple and lays it waste. Is this an indication of a Roman-Assyrian
spiritual union? Assyrian spiritual practices were passed through Baylon
and the other empires to Rome.
One last point: when Nineveh fell, there were so many soldiers killed that
the rivers tutned to blood. Interesting, in the light of the fall of
"Babylon" in Revelation.

CAIRO, Oct 18 (AFP) - Solving the disputes over Jerusalem's holy
sites is the key to peace in the Middle East, Vatican Foreign
Minister Jean-Louis Tauran said Sunday.
"It's clear that there will not be peace as long as the problem of the
holy sites and places of worship in Jerusalem is not resolved,"
Monsignor Tauran told reporters following a meeting here with Egyptian
President Hosni Mubarak.
"The Vatican believes it is essential to insure that these sites do
not belong to any one party but are available to the whole world," he
said.
In September the Arab League called on the Holy See to provide
clarification on an agreement signed between Israel and the Vatican
late last year to formalise the status of the Roman Catholic church in
the Jewish state.
The agreement stipulates that the accord is applicable "where Israeli
law is observed," which from an Israeli point of view includes
contested Arab east Jerusalem, annexed by Israel and home to the Holy
Sepulchre.
The Holy Sepulchre is the holiest of Christian sites, where many
Christians believe the body of Jesus Christ is buried.
The Vatican does not recognise Israel's annexation of east Jerusalem,
and the Holy See has underlined that the agreement it signed with
Israel does not concern Jerusalem, for which it wants international
protection.
Tauran said he had discussed with Mubarak "ideas on the peace process
and the future of Jerusalem."

Ever have a song stuck in your head? That's nothing compared to what
doctors call ``musical hallucinations''...which are songs or melodies
that go 'round and 'round in your brain for YEARS.
Dr. Arnold Starr of the University of California says he's
investigating three cases in which elderly women suffering moderate
hearing loss say they hear music from the 1930s and 1940s in their
heads -- and the music plays on for a long time.
Starr says the hallucinations aren't frightening and the women aren't
disturbed by the constant music...although one reported being annoyed
because the singer was getting the words wrong and singing out of
tune.
No one else could hear the tunes -- Starr says -- which include
versions of old standards such as ``Who's Sorry Now,'' ``Let Me Call
You Sweetheart,'' ``Moonlight and Roses'' and ``Glory, Glory,
Hallelujah''.. .as well as nursery rhymes, Christmas carols and church
hymns.
At least it's not the ``Macarena.''

Jerusalem, Oct 26 (AFP) - The Vatican asked Monday to take part
in
upcoming Israeli-Palestinian negotiations on the future of Jerusalem
and called for a "special international status" for its holy places.
"The Holy See believes that it's important for its representative
to sit at the negotiating table to make sure that they are fair and
that no aspect of the problems will be forgotten," Vatican Foreign
Minister Jean-Louis Tauran said.
The monsignor, who was speaking during a two-day symposium
organized by Jerusalem's Latin Patriarchate, reiterated the Vatican
position that Israel "was illegally occupying Jerusalem."
There is nothing preventing a unique and unified Jerusalem from
becoming the symbol and national center of two peoples (Israeli and
Palestinian) who demand that it be their own capital," he said.
"Any unilateral solution undertaken by force cannot be a
solution,"
he said, adding that Jerusalem's holy places must be protected "by a
special international status."

Computer News. Computer crashes are not the only threat to military
and civilian systems come 2000. Air Force experts and other government
scientists have concluded that violent electromagnetic space storms
will wreak havoc on systems at about the same time unfixed date code
fails.
"We're going to have a huge storm (about) Jan. 1, 2000, so people
won't know what to blame it on," said Ernie Hildner, director of the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space
Environment Center in Boulder, Colo. The center's Space Weather
Operations, operated by NOAA and the Air Force, issues xtraterrestrial
event alerts to government and industry scientists hourly, much as the
National Hurricane Center issues tropical storm or hurricane alerts.
Solar and geomagnetic events such as ion bombardments and
explosions on the surface of the sun can damage or knock out
satellite transmissions, hamper navigation systems, cut electric
power and bring down telephone systems.
Unlike the Year 2000 problem, space weather is a natural phenomenon
that occurs in 11-year cycles. During the cycles, powerful geomagnetic
storms generated by the sun spew bursts of high-energy particles and
clouds of ionized gas that can damage satellites and affect the
Earth's magnetic field. Sunspots, flares, filaments, coronal holes and
mass ejections emanating from the sun throw off bursts of
electromagnetic particles, radiation and solar wind. Geomagnetic
storms occur when blasts of solar wind bend and stretch the Earth's
magnetic field.
The latest solar cycle-Cycle 23-is expected to reach its maximum
strength around 2000, far surpassing the strength of its
predecessor, Hildner said.
Geomagnetically induced current from space weather can be picked up by
power lines and disable transformers, Hildner said. Solar Cycle 22 in
1989, for instance, left more than 6 million people in Quebec, Canada,
without electric power for 12 hours, he said. "We've had three pulses
now of activity in this cycle, and in all three we have anecdotal
information that the Northeast United States power grid has felt the
effects," Hildner said. "So far it hasn't risen to the level of where
anybody has shut down or there has been enormous equipment damage."
Recent pulses have also damaged navigation systems, especially
those that depend on satellites. "We know that Global Positioning
System users such as NOAA have been unable to carry out high-precision
surveying during these pulses of activity," he said.
The accuracy of GPS, a constellation of 24 Navstar satellites
managed by the Defense Department for military and civilian use,
depends on the transmission properties of the atmosphere, Hildner
said. When those properties change unexpectedly during a geomagnetic
storm, navigational fixes from GPS can be grossly inaccurate, he said.
Such vulnerability could have devastating consequences, Hildner
said. DOD relies on GPS to provide precise and accurate navigation
signals to military aircraft and targeting information for its guided
missiles and bombs, he said.
Even though GPS satellites are hardened against electromagnetic
pulses from nuclear-weapons detonation, nothing can protect the
ionosphere, through which satellites transmit radio waves, from
heightened solar activity.
The only way to guard satellites from the sun's magnetic fields,
which are thousands of times stronger than Earth's, is to wrap them
with 6-inch-thick lead plating, Hildner said.
Instead, DOD is turning to cheaper commercial satellites rather
than military-unique systems such as Milstar, designed for
strategic communications during nuclear war, he said.
Iridium, which will be the largest commercial satellite
constellation with 72 low-earth-orbit satellites, will also fall
prey to the effects of the sun, Hildner said. The $5 billion
commercial satellite communications system is designed to provide
long-distance cellular telephone service to subscribers anywhere on
Earth. Its customers, including DOD, will experience signal strength
dropouts as a result of increased solar activity, he said.
"We know that during the last solar cycle there were times when we had
scintillation-the flickering of a satellite signal," Hildner.
During a solar storm, energized electrons race around the Earth,
creating uneven buildups of negative and positive charges on
satellites. The fluctuations can affect the performance of circuits
within the satellites. A solar eruption in 1995, for instance,
disrupted the operations of NOAA's Geostationary Operational
Environmental Satellites, which continuously monitor space weather by
measuring solar X-rays, the Earth's magnetic field and electromagnetic
particles in space.

BILLIONS of dollars worth of United States
air defence systems around the world -
including those in Patriot missiles and
unmanned Predator spy planes - are useless
because they operate on the same frequency
as local telephones.
In a catalogue of disasters listed in an
internal Department of Defence review, the
United States military is accused of
installing about 90 systems in Europe, the
Middle East and Asia without bothering to
check if they could be used in conjunction
with local telephone services.
It has led to American radar in Bahrain
being rendered inoperable because it
interferes with telecommunications
equipment, while Patriot missiles have been
grounded in Korea because their radio,
radar and data-link frequencies are the
same as local mobile phones.
In Japan, pagers used by American forces
have been found to interfere with
aeronautical communications, and even baby
monitors on American bases in Germany have
been outlawed after disrupting telephone
services.
Some hugely-expensive American defence
systems throughout the world "cannot be
utilised to their full capability. . . In
some cases, fully functional equipment sits
idle while its useful life expires," says
the damning report from the department's
inspector general's office.
The report, quoted in Defense Week
magazine, adds: "At least 89
telecommunications systems were deployed
within the European, Pacific and south-west
Asian theatres without the proper frequency
certification and host-nation approval."
In a written response, the Pentagon
conceded that the problems were serious and
said steps were being taken to overcome
them. It added that the United States had
little control over what radio frequencies
nations used and said that sometimes
frequencies changed after a system had been
installed.
The report said that some countries were
greatly angered. German legislators had
passed a law enabling American equipment to
be seized and the users arrested if they
operated systems on a frequency that had
not been approved by local
telecommunications authorities.

In my reading today I came across the following synopsis of a
conference that was held recently entitled
Natural Catastrophes During Bronze Age Civilisations
Archaeological, geological, astronomical and cultural perspectives.
Edited by Benny J. Peiser, Trevor Palmer and Mark E. Bailey.
Archaeopress, Oxford, 1998.
"Similarly in the next paper, David Pankenier suggests that, contrary
to what has generally been supposed, legends and rituals from Bronze
Age China may reflect actual events. In particular, around the time of
the transition from the Xia to the Shang dynasty in the middle of the
second millennium BC, there is a story of ten suns appearing in the
sky and then, a few years later, of five planets criss-crossing, and
stars falling like rain, after which there was an earthquake and then
a drought. It would not be difficult to see this as an indication of
the appearance of multiple comets in the sky, and impact-induced
catastrophes. The same or a different cometary catastrophe could also
form the basis for the legend of the battles between the wicked Chi
You and the Yellow Emperor, which featured in ritual games."
This seems to parallel events that will happen as per Revelation.
To add to the "stars falling like rain" aspect is that earlier in
the paper they were discussing iridium--a metal which is "largely
absent from the Earth's crust, but present in abundant amounts in
extraterrestrial materials [comets, asteroids, etc.]..."
The reason these two things stood out in my mind is that I had seen a
TV program that was outlining the first global mobile communications
system which is to be implemented by the end of 1998. The company's
name is Iridium. They have launched (or are still in the process of)
66 satellites all around the earth (with 6 extra as back-ups) so that
no matter where you are on earth, you will be covered by their system
(unless a country denies them access).
These satellites are only about 400 miles above the earth as opposed
to other satellites that are in the 36,000 mile range. The picture
shown on TV showed a very close concentration of this "satellite
constellation" hovering in space. Apparently they aren't the only
company who have started using this technology (although their
competitors were stymied when they tried launching some satellites
which ultimately crashed). With all these satellites in such close
proximity to earth I was wondering what would happen if they were to
all come crashing down at once and thought of the verses in
Revelation that deal with stars falling from the sky. Also, if they
were to fall to earth and break apart, would they constitute the hail
about the weight of a talent?
Another interesting thing with Iridium satellites is that there is a
phenomena which is called "satellite flare" (basically the sun
reflecting off the panels) and it made me think of the the beast that
could make fire come down from heaven.

A two tier attack was launched on the status of an Israeli
controlled Jerusalem, the attacks appear mutually exclusive, but
coming so quickly after the Wye agreement, one can only surmise some
degree of coordination.
The first attack was a formal announcement by Yasir Arafat
carried
today by Gaza Palestinian Broadcasting Corp. TV Network of the
triumphant reception accorded to Palestinian President Yasir Arafat at
his palace in Gaza upon his return from the United States and from his
Arab tour. A number of independent onlookers pointed out that all that
was missing was the "Triumphal March from Aida."
Arafat continued his blunt incitement and said, "My message to
the
Palestinian people is to continue the march on the same path until we
together pray in holy Jerusalem, the capital of the state of
Palestine."
Adding to the confusion over the role of the US, Arafat added
that
the Wye agreement involved US, international, and Arab guarantees.
The second attack was unexpected due to its blunt language and
came
from the Vatican. According to the Rome La Repubblica in Italian,
October 27, in a speech by Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran, the Vatican's
foreign minister, delivered in Jerusalem yesterday morning before the
bishops of the Holy Land, also dispensed by the Vatican press office,
Tauran claimed that "east Jerusalem is illegally occupied," referring
to the military conquest of the city in June 1967 and its subsequent
annexation by Israel.
Tauran obliquely addressed the Jewish neighborhood expansion
programs of the city and added, "In the light of the current situation
of obvious conflict and rapid conversion of the Holy City, any
unilateral solution or solution imposed by force is and can be no
solution," and "any exclusive claim, whether religious or political,
runs counter to the logic of this city."
Furthermore Tauran pointed out, "The Holy See deems it essential"
to find "a fitting solution" for Jerusalem in the form of "a special
status internationally guaranteed by the United Nations. Settling the
territorial dispute is not enough."
Analysts detect these two approaches as symptomatic of a drive
for
a Palestinian Sovereign state with private guarantees of
internationalization of Jerusalem in order to coax the Vatican to
assume a partisan position. The Vatican has traditionally supported
the Palestinians in varying degrees but never has spoken out so
strongly. Even when the PA attempted to take over a portion of the
Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem a short time ago and
reportedly attempted to build a latrine on top, the Vatican's comments
were muted.
Yet, within these initiatives lie the intricate and at times
devious, diplomatic language that disguises rather than enlightens,
confuses rather than clarifies, and allows for the possibility that
the Vatican mistrusts the Palestinians and realize that if the
Palestinians achieve their goal and seize all of Jerusalem,
Christianity may lose access to the city indefinitely. This
possibility is especially probable if Islamic fundamentalism seizes
control, as it has in so many other areas of the world, and
Christianity is relegated to infidel status as frequently expressed in
Friday sermons at the Al Aqsa Mosque on Temple Mount.
Arafat's only perceived virtue is his ability to hold the
Palestinians together and withstand the assaults of the fundamental
Islamic groups such as Hamas who will undoubtedly assume control after
the ailing Arafat loses dominance. Arafat is aware of Shaykh Yasin and
others within his own dominion who have asserted their right to future
rule, and signs of the diminishing of his own power frequently
surface.
That Arafat's power is slipping is witnessed by others ostensibly
under his control ignoring Arafat's charade of subordinating his
national interests to the terms of all and any peace accords and
striking out on their own. Accordingly, we find today, October 28,on
the Voice of Palestine, VOP, that Major General Amin al-Hindi,
director of the General Intelligence Service, said that no quarter
will be allowed to interfere in Palestinian security work or in any
activity detrimental to national sovereignty.
The path to Palestinian sovereignty is inexorable and with the
poor
performance of the Israeli delegation at Wye, leaving Israelis
suffering under the indignity of improper translations, we can
understand a universal Israeli angst and hope that salvation arrives
soon.

Looking for some input. I have heard that the Spring feasts have been
fulfilled, but that the Fall feasts are yet to be fulfilled.

Trumpets Atonement Tabernacles
The Spring Feasts
The Spring feasts (those at the top) are feasts that bring
the INDIVIDUAL into union with the Lord, all being based on
the Passover sacrifice:
1. Unleavened Bread - a time of repentance, cleaning out the leaven
2. First Fruits - Christ judged righteous and raised
3. Pentecost - God indwells the individual through his faith in Christ
The Fall Feasts
Does the same hold true for the second set above, or the Fall feasts,
they being a fulfillment of Israel as a nation?:
1. Trumpets - a call to repentance, to clean out the leaven
2. Atonement - the Day Israel is judged as a nation
3. Tabernacles - the Day God dwells in the midst of His people (nation)
If we put these two sets together, it looks like this:

up August 31, 1998 and are billed as a family/dove network (although

This is the first in a series of periodic updates on issues relating
to Palestinian compliance with the October 23, 1998 Wye River
Memorandum. This update focuses on the Palestinian obligation to amend
the PLO Covenant which calls for Israel's destruction.
---The Palestinian Commitment at Wye---
The Wye agreement states (Article II, Paragraph C(2)) that the PLO
Executive Committee and the Palestinian Central Council will reaffirm
Yasser Arafat's January 22, 1998 letter to President Clinton
concerning the nullification of problematic articles in the PLO
Covenant.
Subsequently, according to the agreement, "PLO Chairman Arafat, the
Speaker of the Palestine National Council, and the speaker of the
Palestinian Council will invite the members of the PNC, as well as the
members of the Central Council, the Council, and the Palestinian Heads
of Ministries to a meeting to be addressed by President Clinton to
reaffirm their support for the peace process and the aforementioned
decisions of the Executive Committee and the Central Council."
---The Palestinian Position Since Wye---
1) Following is an October 26, 1998 Voice of Israel radio interview
with chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat. The interview was
conducted in English.
"Well, once again, I think the PNC met in 1996 and all articles that
were inconsistent with the letters exchanged in 1993 between the
Government of Israel and the PLO were changed. And later, President
Arafat wrote President Clinton a letter on the 22nd of January 1998
specifying the articles that were either nullified or amended.
And it was agreed at the Wye River that the PLO Central Council will
meet to ratify the letter of President Arafat to President Clinton.
And then it was agreed that the members of the PNC [Palestinian
National Council], the members of the Legislative Council, the labor
unions, women's organizations and all political systems will attend a
meeting at which President Clinton will address all these issues.
The PLO will not convene in terms of officially ratifying the articles
that were changed. It is the Palestine Central Council, and the
agreement is very specific on this."
2) In an October 26, 1998 interview on official Palestinian Authority
television, Saeb Erekat said, "the PNC members, the Legislative
Council, the Central Council, women's groups and labor unions will all
convene to listen to Clinton, but not to vote [on changing the
Covenant]."
3) On October 26, 1998, the official Palestinian Authority newspaper
Al-Hayat Al-Jadeeda published the text of the Wye River Memorandum,
but the section referring to the PLO Covenant was altered and makes no
mention of the PNC changing the Covenant. The newspaper's version
reads as follows:
"PLO Chairman Arafat, the Speaker of the Palestine National Council,
and the speaker of the Palestinian Central Council will invite the
members of the PNC, the members of the Central Council and the members
of the Palestinian Government to a meeting at which President Clinton
will speak to reaffirm his [Clinton's] support for the peace process."

The following are the results of a survey of a representative sample
of 370 adult Palestinians residing in Jerusalem and Judea & Samaria.
The poll was conducted on 24-26 October by the Palestinian Center for
Public Opinion (PCPO) at Beit Sahour under the supervision of Dr.
Nabil Kukali. The sampling error is +/- 3%.

Cassini Space Probe
On August 18th, 1999 the Cassini Space Probe is scheduled
to do a flyby of Earth, in which it will pass less than 800 km
from the surface of the Earth, at a speed of over 42,000 miles
per hour. What makes this flyby so interesting, is that Cassini is
carrying 72 pounds of Plutonium as its fuel source. This
maneuver -- a slingshot type effect to give the probe more
speed in which to enable it to reach Saturn -- is not dangerous
in and of itself. Well, it's not dangerous if all goes as planned.
But sometimes, things do go wrong.
"'It was brighter than the brightest star,' said John Van der
Brink, and had a tail about 12 times the width of the full moon
with 'sparkling bits sort of coming off the back of it. This was
an extraordinarily spectacular event.'"
What Van der Brink and his wife, along with other witnesses
observed that night November 16, 1996, was "Russia's Mars
96 space probe descending along a swath of Chile and Bolivia
and scattering its remains across a 10,000 square mile area.
The probe carried about a half pound of deadly plutonium
divided into four battery canisters that were to serve as
electricity sources for Mars rovers." The Plutonium is missing
and no one knows where it went. Or, if they do know, they
aren't saying.

The point is, a space probe crashed to earth. Sometimes our
toys don't work like we would like them to. And sometimes,
"unknown forces" play with our toys.
"Fri Sep 25 , 1998 -- An unkown force pulled three spacecraft
traveling on the fringes of the solar system slightly off course,
the Los Alamos National Laboratory said yesterday. So far the
scientists at the New Mexico center know that three space
probes, Pioneer-10 Pioneer-12 and the European spacecraft
Ulysses went off course and headed sunward. A team led by
John Anderson, of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in
Pasadena, Calif., tried to track the force, which was 10 billion

Today, Washington Times)
With Cassini passing within 800 km of earth and with less than
one-millioneth of a gram of plutonium - a microscopic amount -
being able to cause cancer, let's hope it stays on course.
This talk of plutonium reminds me of these verses in the Bible:
Rev 8:10-11
"And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from
heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part
of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name
of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters
became wormwood; and many men died of the waters,
because they were made bitter."
It has been said that the Russian word "Chernobyl" when
translated to English is "wormwood." [In my mind, this has not
be satisfactorily proven, as I've seen many statements and
arguments to the contrary. However, I did read where a
Russian journalist, when describing the Chernobyl disaster,
translated the word "Chernobyl" as "meaning the equivalent of
wormwood."] Nevertheless, what is interesting is that it has
forced us to concentrate upon an area of technology that
could be our "wormwood." Perhaps God has given us a clue
as to what could be the cause of the waters becoming bitter?
A by-product of the Chernobyl reactors was plutonium. The
plutonium is then used in nuclear weapons and can be
reprocessed as a source of fuel for nuclear plants and, as we
have seen, space probes.
In the minds of many people, the "great star" that John was
describing in Revelation 8:10-11 must be a comet or meteor.
But notice the description by an eyewitness of the Russian
Mars 96 space probe as it fell back to earth:
"It was brighter than the brightest star ... and had a tail about
12 times the width of the full moon..."
Something certainly spectacular to witness.
Do I think that Cassini is our biblical wormwood? No. The
timing of the fly-by doesn't fit in with my interpretation and timing
of endtime events. However, my attention has certainly been
focused more on what we are sending up into space. What
goes up, just may come down one day.

After 2,000 years as the world's best-selling book, The
Bible has gone tabloid -- and the church approves.
So, of course, does The Sun, Britain's best-selling
tabloid, whose racy headlines have become a reflection of national
culture.
Author Nick Page, former communications director for the
homeless charity Oasis, insists no blasphemy is intended.
``I am a Christian. The original Bible was written in
everyday language people could understand -- just like the Sun is
today,'' he told the tabloid which went to town on Thursday with its
own ``Read Saul About It'' banner headline.
Page is the first to acknowledge one of the tabloid's most
memorable headlines -- ``Gotcha!'' -- when a British submarine sank
the Argentine warship The Belgrano in the 1982 Falklands War, killing
301 people.
Page rewrites biblical history when the Egyptian king's
army fails to get across the Red Sea in pursuit of the Israelites.
The tabloid Bible declares: ``Gotcha! Pharaoh's chariots
drowned in disaster.''
The Sun's page three topless nudes are the staple daily
diet of Britain's hot-blooded males.
``Scroll: The Tabloid Bible'' offers its own
multi-breasted goddess, Diana of the Ephesians, who certainly boasts
some startling vital statistics: 32-33-34-35-36-32-37-39-33-32.
The Anglican Church gave the new book a cautious welcome.
``It is a very imaginative approach and I'm sure priests
will want to use it in thought-provoking discussions with young
people,'' a Church of England spokesman said.
The Bible is certainly being given plenty of modern-day
makeovers.
A Scottish publisher got into hot water with the faithful
with pocket-sized paperback versions with introductions that described
God as ``a frivolous trickster'' and Jesus Christ as ``pushy.''
A comic-strip Bible is also due to hit the bookshelves
soon. And The Sun argued on Thursday that all of history
was ripe for the tabloid treatment.
Turning to the life of Henry VIII and his eight wives, it
suggested: ``Henry's had it off again! King gets chopper out to wife
number five.''
Inevitably, the saga of Robin Hood proves too great a
temptation of its headline writers who suggested: ``Throbbin' Hood.
Randy outlaw romps with Maid Marian in forest.''

I agree with your assessment that the Spring Feasts have been
fulfilled, while the Fall Feasts are waiting fulfillment. Your study
where you further grouped or paralleled the spring and fall feasts
seems quite reasonable to me as well. I really don't have much too
add in that respect. Your study into the feasts though has given me
much to think about.
A few weeks ago my attention was drawn to the four-month period
between the spring and fall feasts and wonder if you have any
insight into it while doing your spring/fall feast study or find it in anyway
related to Israel's future redemption?
The four-month waiting period shows the divine order and nature of
God. As we know, the feasts as appointed by God are tied into
Israel's seasons of planting and harvesting.
"He prepares a seed, prepares the soil, sows the seed, waters it
with the early rain, brings it sprouting forth from the earth, shines His
light on it to grow to maturity, waters it in the latter rain to fatten it for
harvest, and then harvests the fully ripe fruit. It is His way that He
created nature to function and His works in times and seasons in
prophecy follow this pattern."

in the ground before it sprouts forth. Planted in the fall to die in the

Off the top of my head, I thought of trumpets as the first feast after
this four months. The seed in the ground would then be the resurrection
after the four month waiting period. I will definitely be looking into

Of this sealing, Edersheim writes (Chapter 11) regarding the Passover-mark:
On the other hand, a most significant allusion to the typical meaning of
the Passover-blood, as securing immunity from destruction, occurs in the
prophecies of Ezekiel (Eze 9:4-6), where 'the man clothed with linen' is
directed to 'set a mark upon the foreheads' of the godly (like the first
Passover-mark), so that they who were to 'slay utterly old and young' might
not 'come near any' of them. The same symbolic reference and command occur
in the Book of Revelation (Rev 7:2,3; 9:4), in regard to those who have
been 'sealed as the servants of our God in their foreheads.']]

SOUNDING OF FIRST TRUMPET
Rev 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled
with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees
was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
[[In the second temple, seven trumpets were blown "symbolically to proclaim
the kingdom of God, Divine Providence, and the final judgment." So says
Edersheim (Chapter 3):
The blasts of the trumpets, blown by priests only, formed--at least in the
second Temple--no part of the instrumental music of the service, but were
intended for quite different purposes. Even the posture of the performers
showed this, for while the Levites stood at their desks facing towards the
sanctuary, or westwards, the priests, with their silver trumpets, stood
exactly in the opposite direction, on the west side of the rise of the
altar, by the 'table of the fat,' and looking eastwards or down the courts.
On ordinary days the priests blew seven times, each time three blasts--a
short sound, an alarm, and again a sharp short sound (Thekiah, Theruah, and
Thekiah *), or, as the Rabbis express it, 'An alarm in the midst and a plain
note before and after it.'
According to tradition, they were intended symbolically to proclaim the
kingdom of God, Divine Providence, and the final judgment. The first three
blasts were blown when the great gates of the Temple--especially that of
Nicanor--were opened. Then, when the drink-offering was poured out, the
Levites sung the psalm of the day in three sections. After each section
there was a pause, when the priests blew three blasts, and the people
worshipped. This was the practice at the evening, as at the morning
sacrifice. On the eve of the Sabbath a threefold blast of the priests'
trumpets summoned the people, far as the sound was carried over the city, to
prepare for the holy day, while another threefold blast announced its actual
commencement. On Sabbaths, when, besides the ordinary, an additional
sacrifice was brought, and the 'Song of Moses' sung--not the whole every
Sabbath, but divided in six parts, one for every Sabbath,--the priests
sounded their trumpets additional three times in the pauses of the Sabbath

about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four
and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their
heads crowns of gold. Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and
thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before
the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. Rev 4:6 And before the

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and

honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure
they are and were created.
[[The seven Spirits before the throne could be the seven spirits that stand
before God and His throne: Rev 8:2 "And I saw the seven angels which stood
before God; and to them were given seven trumpets," but I believe these
Spirits represent the Holy Spirit poured out after the Lamb ascended to be
glorified by the Father.]]
[[In like visions in the Old Testament, there isn't any sign of these 24
priests. Most likely this is a picture of those in Israel who looked forward
to Christ's coming and entered heaven with Him at His ascension (see notes
for Rev 12 and the war in heaven). The priests who took care of the
sanctuaries were divided into 24 groups called "courses." These are the
divisions of the 24 courses as David assigned them:
1 Chr 24:4 And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than
of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of
Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and
eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers. 1
Chr 24:5 Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the
governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the
sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar. 1 Chr 24:6 And Shemaiah the son
of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and
the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and
before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal
household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar. 1 Chr 24:7 Now
the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah, 1 Chr 24:8 The
third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
1 Chr 24:19 These were the orderings of them in their service to come into
the house of the LORD, according to their manner, under Aaron their father,
as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
I believe the 24 elders of Revelation are the heavenly type of these
courses. In Chapter 4 of his book, "The Temple - Its Ministry and Services,"
Alfred Edersheim comments:
The institution of David and of Solomon continued till the Babylonish
captivity. Thence, however, only four out of the twenty-four 'courses'
returned: those of Jedaiah, Immer, Pashur, and Harim (Ezra 2:36-39), the
course of 'Jedaiah' being placed first because it was of the high-priest's
family, 'of the house of Jeshua,' 'the son of Jozadak' (Ezra 3:2; Hagg 1:1;
1 Chron 6:15). To restore the original number, each of these four families
was directed to draw five lots for those which had not returned, so as to
form once more twenty-four courses, which were to bear the ancient names.
Thus, for example, Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, did not really
belong to the family of Abijah (1 Chron 24:10), which had not returned from
Babylon, but to the 'course of Abia,' which had been formed out of some
other family, and only bore the ancient name (Luke 1:5). Like the priests,
the Levites had at the time of King David been arranged into twenty-four
'courses,' which were to act as 'priests' assistance' (1 Chron 23:4,28), as
'singers and musicians' (1 Chron 25:6), as 'gate-keepers and guards' (1
Chron 26:6 and following), and as 'officers and judges.' Of these various
classes, that of the 'priests' assistants' was by far the most numerous, *
and to them the charge of the Temple had been committed in subordination to
the priests.
* Apparently it numbered 24,000, out of a total of 38,000 Levites.
It had been their duty to look after the sacred vestments and vessels; the
store-houses and their contents; and the preparation of the shewbread, of
the meat-offerings, of the spices, etc. They were also generally to assist
the priests in their work, to see to the cleaning of the sanctuary, and to
take charge of the treasuries (1 Chron 23:28-32).
I have shown these courses in the graphic above, along with the 4 beasts. I
found it interesting that the tribes of Israel marched under banners with
the same animals and the man represented by the faces of the four beatss. I
have shown those in the graphic as well (OT configuration). These beasts,
though, are most likely the cherubim described in Ezekiel in the Old
Testament.]]
A BOOK SEALED WITH SEVEN SEALS, WHICH COULD BE OPENED BY NONE BUT CHRIST,
WHO TOOK THE BOOK TO OPEN IT
Rev 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book
written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. Rev 5:2 And I
saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the
book, and to loose the seals thereof? Rev 5:3 And no man in heaven, nor in
earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look
thereon. Rev 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open
and to read the book, neither to look thereon. Rev 5:5 And one of the elders
saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of
David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals
thereof. Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of
the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been
slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God
sent forth into all the earth. Rev 5:7 And he came and took the book out of
the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
[[This book is, I believe, the Book of Daniel. The victorious Lamb has
prevailed over sin and death to come before the Father and receive, reveal,
and bring to conclusion the visions of the Book of Daniel. Daniel had been
told, Dan 12:4 "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book,
even to the time of the end". Revelation shows the One who now opens the
book to reveal the time of the end and to answer the unanswered questions
Daniel had asked. The seven Spirits of verse 6 is the Holy Spirit, 7 being
God's number for fulness.]]

THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB
Rev 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people
in heaven, saying, Alleluia;
Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
Rev 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged
the great whore, which did
corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of
his servants at her hand.
Rev 19:3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever
and ever.
Rev 19:4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down
and worshipped God that sat on
the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
Rev 19:5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God,
all ye his servants, and ye that
fear him, both small and great.
Rev 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as
the voice of many waters, and as

called unto the marriage supper of
the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me,
See thou do it not: I am thy
fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus:
worship God: for the testimony of
Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
[[It appears that Jesus did not drink the fourth cup of Passover, "the cup
of completion," stating that His Passover
would be fulfilled in the kingdom of God:
Luke 22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this
passover with you before I suffer: Luke 22:16 For I say unto you, I will not
any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
He had told Israel:
Luke 13:35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say
unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say,
Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
By the words, "Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord," He was
speaking of Tabernacles, the time in which His Passover would be fulfilled.
The sacrifices of the Old Testament were fulfilled at Calvary, but there is
much that has not been fulfilled, namely, the coming of God's wrath at the
midnight hour and the leading out of those who are His. Edersheim nrings
together the Passover ceremony in the temple and the words of the
celebration of Tabernacles (the Suppper of the Lamb) in Chapter 11 of his
book:
"While the Saviour still tarried with the other disciples outside the city,
Peter and John were completing their preparations. They followed the motley
crowd, all leading their sacrificial lambs up the Temple-mount. Here they
were grouped into three divisions. Already the evening sacrifice had been
offered. Ordinarily it was slain at 2:30 p.m., and offered at about 3:30.
But on the eve of the Passover, as we have seen, it was killed an hour
earlier; and if the 14th of Nisan fell on a Friday--or rather from Thursday
at eve to Friday at eve--two `63 hours earlier, so as to avoid any needless
breach of the Sabbath. On the occasion to which we refer the evening
sacrifice had been slain at 1:30, and offered at 2:30. But before the
incense was burned or the lamps were trimmed, the Paschal sacrifice had to
be offered.
"* According to the Talmud, 'the daily (evening) sacrifice precedes that of
the Paschal lamb; the Paschal lamb the burning of the incense, the incense
the trimming of the lamps' (for the night).
"It was done on this wise:--The First of the three festive divisions, with
their Paschal lambs, was admitted within the Court of the Priests. Each
division must consist of not less than thirty persons (3 x 10, the
symbolical number of the Divine and of completeness). Immediately the
massive gates were closed behind them. The priests drew a threefold blast
from their silver trumpets when the Passover was slain. Altogether the scene
was most impressive. All along the Court up to the altar of burnt-offering
priests stood in two rows, the one holding golden, the other silver bowls.
In these the blood of the Paschal lambs, which each Israelite slew for
himself (as representative of his company at the Paschal Supper), was caught
up by a priest, who handed it to his colleague, receiving back an empty
bowl, and so the bowls with the blood were passed up to the priest at the
altar, who jerked it in one jet at the base of the altar. While this was
going on, a most solemn 'hymn' of praise was raised, the Levites leading in
song, and the offerers either repeating after them or merely responding.
Every first line of a Psalm was repeated by the people, while to each of the
others they responded by a 'Hallelujah,' or 'Praise ye the Lord.' This
service of song consisted of the so-called 'Hallel,' which comprised Psalms
113 to 118. Thus--
The Levites began: 'Hallelu Jah' (Praise ye the Lord).
The people repeated: 'Hallelu Jah.'
The Levites: 'Praise (Hallelu), O ye servants of Jehovah.'
The people responded: 'Hallelu Jah.'
The Levites: 'Praise (Hallelu) the name of Jehovah.'
The people responded: 'Hallelu Jah.'
Similarly, when Psalm 113 had been finished--Psalm 114:
The Levites: 'When Israel went out of Egypt.'
The people repeated: 'When Israel went out of Egypt.
The Levites: 'The house of Jacob from a people of strange language.'
The people responded: 'Hallelu Jah.'
And in the same manner, repeating each first line and responding at the
rest, till they came to Psalm 118, when, besides the first, these three
lines were also repeated by the people (vv 25, 26):
'Save now, I beseech Thee, Jehovah.'
'Blessed be He that cometh in the name of Jehovah.'
May it not be that to this solemn and impressive 'hymn' corresponds
the Alleluia song of the redeemed Church in heaven, as described in
Revelation 19:1, 3, 4, 6?

Using the Jewish calendar, is the four month period equal to 120
days? I don't have time right now to check it out, but the reason I
ask is because of Bullinger's comments concerning the symbolism
of the number 120:
1. 120 = 3 X 40 and therefore when applied to time signifies a
"divinely appointed" period of probation. (40 years of wandering,
etc.)
2. When applied to persons it signifies a time or period of waiting,
such as the 120 persons in the Upper Room.
The whole four month "waiting" period reminds me of the Times of
the Gentiles. A probationary period of sorts for Israel until the
fullness of the Gentiles is complete and a waiting period for
Christians until the time of harvest.

Weeping relic in Siberian Orthodox church
MOSCOW, Oct 29 (AFP) - The phenomenon of weeping religious relics,
usually the preserve of tiny Italian Catholic churches, seems to have
reached Siberia where an 18th-century icon has been crying for days,
it was reported Thursday.
According to the Nezavissimaya Gazeta newspaper, only a few weeks ago,
a stranger gave the icon to the Russian Orthodox church in a small
village in the Siberian region of Buryatsky, which has a large
Buddhist community.
After cleaning the icon, Father Yevgeny of the church in Ilinka noted
a liquid similar to the oils used in holy sacrements was seeping from
the statue, which represents the Hebrew King David and the prophet
Isaiah
The icon is thought to have come from the centuries-old monastery of
the Holy Trinity in Selenginsk, in the Baykal region, which was
destroyed under Communist rule. Its contents were retrieved by
neighbouring villagers.
