Hello everyone,

I found the following while I was reading today; just found it
interesting enough to send along even though it really doesn't "fit"
anywhere right now.

"There are amazing parallels between the sacrifice of Jesus and the
Temple sacrifice of animals including the details of the Passover
sacrifice of the lamb. According to the Mishnah [collection of
mostly Jewish traditions] and Sanhedrin [supreme council of the Jews]
documents, when the priest took his knife and cut the throat of the
Passover lamb he would cry out, 'It is finished.' He would open up
the lamb with a knife and roast it upon a vertical spit with a
horizontal cross piece holding the front legs wide apart. Then he
would wrap the lamb's intestines around its head while it was being
roasted. This was called 'the crown of the Passover lamb.'"

license said he is ready to begin the first step toward immortality:
he will clone himself. Richard Seed, who provoked controversy earlier
this year by announcing plans to clone humans, said that the first
person he will try to copy will be himself, The Boston Globe reported
Sunday. Seed said his wife, Gloria, has agreed to carry an embryo that
would be created by combining the nucleus of one of his cells with a
donor egg, the newspaper said. "I have decided to clone myself first
to defuse the criticism that I'm taking advantage of desperate women
with a procedure that's not proven," the 69-year-old physicist said
Saturday at a meeting of the Association for Politics and the Life
Sciences, a group of academic researchers. Seed declined to give his
wife's age, but described her as "post-menopausal." He refused to give
details of how the pregnancy would work. A dramatic step The Chicago
scientist has three Harvard degrees, including a Ph.D., but no medical
degree, no money and no institutional backing. He has vowed to produce
a pregnancy with a human clone within 2 1/2 years. Cloning would be
the first step in discovering immortality, Seed said Saturday during
his talk. He also said he has received hundreds of calls, including
many from parents of dying children who want to clone them. People at
the conference said cloning could be used to produce a child for an
infertile couple, to replace a dead child or to produce a child who
could donate bone marrow or other vital tissue to a sick family
member. Two states, California and Michigan, have outlawed human
cloning and dozens of other states are considering bans. A five-year
moratorium on cloning is apparently being observed by mainstream
scientists, but Congress has failed to act on legislation to outlaw
the procedure. Seed has said that if Congress bans cloning, he will
move his operation to Tijuana, Mexico.

Triangle Numbers

I'm not very good at math. Actually, I consider myself to have
somewhat of a mental block at times when it comes to simple
math. Oh, I've passed geometry, algebra, trignometry, and
calculas (barely) in college, but sometimes it's the simple every day
math that bogs my mind. So if I appear a little excited about
"triangle numbers" you'll just have to overlook me. Compare my
excitement of this find to that of a pre-schooler learning to write
his name for the first time.

Triangle numbers appear throughout the bible, and knowing
what they are and how to find them, can give insight into
numerological passages in the scriptures. The best way to
envision them at the moment is to get a handful of pennies and
then sit down at the kitchen table. Take one penny and place
it on the table by itself. The number one is the first triangle
number. Now, take two more pennies and place them in a row right under
the first penny, thus forming a triangle made of three pennies. The
total of three pennies makes the second triangle number the number
three. Now make a third row of pennies by placing three more pennies
under the previous two. The triangular shape should be more apparent
now. So we now have three rows with a total of six pennies, thus the
third triangle number is the number six. Theoretically, you could
continue doing this an infinite amount of times.

1st row has 1 penny = total 1
2nd row has 2 pennies = total 3
3rd row has 3 pennies = total 6
4th row has 4 pennies = total 10
5th row has 5 pennies = total 15

To get the 6th triangle number follow these steps:

1. Multiple 6 by itself (6 X 6)
2. Add 6 to your answer (36 + 6)
3. Divide that answer by 2 (42 / 2)
4. The result is the 6th triangle number (21).

Wanna know the 12th triangle number?

1. Multiple 12 by itself (12 X 12 = 144)
2. Add 12 to your answer (144 + 12 = 156)
3. Divide that number by 2 ( 156 / 2 = 78)
4. 78 is the 12th triangle number.

Triangle numbers are not common by the way. For example in
the first 2 million numbers, less than 2000 qualify as a triangle
number.

Examining some of the triangle numbers in the Bible shows the
perfection of God in everything He does. God doesn't use
arbitrary numbers. His designs are perfect; His thinking is
perfect; His acts are perfect. This is illustrated time and time again
in so many overlooked ways.

Take the number 153 for example. It's the 17th triangle
number. Considering the mathematics we've just explored, look
at John 21:11-12:

"Simon Peter got into the boat and pulled the net ashore.
Though the net was filled with 153 large fish, it was not torn.
{12} Jesus told them, 'Come, have breakfast.' None of the
disciples dared to ask him who he was. They knew he was the
Lord." (GWT)

God even catches the perfect number of fish when He goes
fishing!

Other examples:

1. 66 books in the Bible - 66 is the 11th triangle number.

2. The length of Noah's ark was 300 cubits - 300 is the 24th
triangle number.

3. The Ten Commandments - the number 10 is the 4th triangle
number.

4. 666 (The Mark of the Beast) - 666 is the 36th triangle
number.

5. The number of disciples in the upper room was 120, which is
the 15th triangle number.

6. The number of people saved in Paul's shipwreck was 276,
which is the 23rd triangle number.

7. The six days of creation - the number 6 is the 3rd triangle
number.

8. The gematria of Adam's name is 45. (Gen. 1:26) "And God
said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." Since Adam
was created in the likeness of God, his number should be a triangle
number (since the Trinity, the number 3 is a triangle number) and it
is. The number 45 is the 9th triangle number.

9. The gematria of David's name is 21. David is the first and
last human mentioned in the New Testament. The number 21
is the 6th triangle number.

Over and over again we see common threads throughout the
Word of God. Here we have evidence of the Great
Mathematician at work. Sir Isaac Newton wrote: "It is the
perfection of God's works that they are done with the greatest
of simplicity."

Comment: In this brief article, I've barely skimmed the surface
of what Harrison delves into in his book. If you are interested in
such mathematical designs in the Word of God, I recommend you get a
copy of "The Pattern and the Prophecy." I've had the book for some
time, and not being mathematically inclined, I find myself having to
really concentrate on what is being presented. Don't let that
discourage you though. There are many wonderful mathematical nuggets
to find in the Word of God. If I can catch on, anyone can. <g>

Wed Sep 9 , 1998 -- A new regulation that will require dog and cat
owners to have their pets vaccinated against rabies and an identifying
microchip inserted under their skin was received yesterday with
approval by veterinarians and protest by some cat owners. Until now,
nearly 90,000 dogs have had such a chip inserted due to municipal
by-laws in about 50 local authorities, according to Agriculture
Ministry chief veterinarian Arnon Shimshony. But it will now become
mandatory for pet dogs in the whole country, and a one-year experiment
for cats - except for those that never leave home. Israel has
apparently become the first country in the world to require dogs and
cats to have an identifying chip in their bodies, Shimshony said.

which is working actively to have the U.S. Embassy in Israel moved

thirteen years ago. No-one has yet been executed, although a
Christian, Ayub Masih, is currently awaiting the outcome of an appeal

Recreating a modern day version of ancient Silk Road

from Japan to Belgium are in the Azeri capital, Baku, for a conference
aimed at recreating a modern day version of the ancient Silk Road.
Heads of state from Central Asia, the Caucuses and Eastern Europe are
discussing the European Union-backed project known as TRACECA -
Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia. The project aims to develop a
modern transport corridor along the route that once linked Asia to
Europe. The Silk Road Project, as it has become known, was begun five
years ago by the EU to try to bolster ties between the former Soviet
Republics which traditionally traded through Moscow. The Baku
conference is one of the biggest yet held to promote a multimillion
dollar scheme to recreate the ancient Silk Road, with a modern network
of air, road and rail links stretching from Europe to China.
Representatives from Central Asia, the Caucuses, Turkey, Ukraine and
the Black Sea states are discussing how to build a new corridor to
ease the flow of goods across the vast region. During the conference
they are due to sign agreements on lowering transit fees and
simplifying customs procedures. The project seeks to boost transport
volumes through the corridor to 34 million tonnes by 2010 from only
1.9 million in 1997. [Kings of the east, 200 million strong army comes
to mind!]

     In the wake of the severe financial crisis facing Russia, Jewish
Agency Chairman Avraham Burg called an emergency meeting of the JAFI
Executive on August 19th to discuss the possible implications for
Jewish immigration to Israel from that country. While it is still too
early to estimate its impact on future aliyah, Burg stated that the
economic and social conditions within Israel are powerful factors in
one's decision to immigrate. The Jewish Agency, he added, is geared to
bring to Israel any Jew anywhere so desiring. Unless there is a change
in the present situation, JAFI still expects the immigration of some
50,000 Jews from the former Soviet Union this year. (Hotline, August
28, 1998)

      PRAYER FOCUS: Pray that Israel may have the resources to welcome
home the next wave of Jewish immigrants returning home from the lands
of thenorth.

      SCRIPTURE: "'The days are coming,' declares the Lord, 'when men
will no longer say, "As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the
Israelites up out of Egypt," but they shall say, "As surely as the
Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the
north"...For I will restore them to the land I gave their

Hi folks...

I'm doing a personal study of Revelation Chapter 8 and
thought I would share this with you. I should first mention that
Edersheim's book, "The Temple: Its Ministry and Services" is a
great resource when studying the book of Revelation. There
are many symbolic references to the Temple service to be
found in Revelation. We refer to it many times.

Read Rev 8:1-6 and compare it to Edersheim's following
description:

"The incensing priest and his assistance now approached first
the altar of burnt-offering. One filled with incense a golden
censer held in a silver vessel, while another placed in a golden
bowl burning coals from the altar. As they passed from the
court into the Holy Place, they struck a large instrument (called
the 'Magrephah'), at sound of which the priests hastened from
all parts to worship, and the Levites to occupy their places in
the service of song; while the chief of the 'stationary men'
ranged at the Gate of Nicanor such of the people as were to
be purified that day. Slowly the incensing priest and his
assistants ascended the steps to the Holy Place, preceded by
the two priests who had formerly dressed the altar and the
candlestick, and who now removed the vessels they had left
behind, and, worshipping, withdrew. Next, one of the
assistants reverently spread the coals on the golden altar; the
other arranged the incense; and then the chief officiating priest
was left alone within the Holy Place, to await the signal of the
president before burning the incense. It was probably while
thus expectant that the angel Gabriel appeared to Zacharias.
As the president gave the word of command, which marked
that 'the time of incense had come,' 'the whole multitude of the
people without' withdrew from the inner court, and fell down
before the Lord, spreading their hands in silent prayer.

"It is this most solemn period, when throughout the vast
Temple buildings deep silence rested on the worshipping
multitude, while within the sanctuary itself the priest laid the
incense on the golden altar, and the cloud of 'odours' (Rev
5:8) rose up before the Lord, which serves as the image of
heavenly things in this description (Rev 8:1,3,4): 'and when He
had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven
about the space of half an hour...And another angel came and
stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was
given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the
prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the
throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the
prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the
angel's hand.'"

A CORNERSTONE FOR THE THIRD TEMPLE AT SUKKOTH

On the third day of the festival of Sukkoth this year (7th October
1998) at 9:30 AM, The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful
Movement will lay the cornerstone for the Third Temple. We trust that
this time it will be on the Temple Mount on the location of the First
and Second Temples.

This date was chosen because during the festival of Sukkoth King David
brought the Ark of the Covenant from the city of David to the Temple
Mount in a special exciting ceremony.

It will be a very special and exciting event. The cornerstone of 4.5
tons in weight is very similar to the stones of the First and Second
Temples. It is a marble stone brought from the desert of Israel not
far from the desert where the children of Israel walked in the time of
Moses from Egypt to the Promised Land during the time of the first
redemption of Israel. It also is not so far from the Mt.Sinai where
G-d gave the Torah to the children of Israel. This stone was brought
from this area because of the special significance of this place and
the similarity to the stones of the First and Second Temples. The
stone as found in this area as it is with no need to cut it with any
metal or iron instrument as the G-d of Israel ordered the people of
Israel not to beat a stone for His House with iron or any other metal
and to respect the special significance and holiness of the Temple and
its stones. In Biblical times the stones were cut with Shamir, a
stronger stone brought from Lebanon. In this way they could cut and
polish the stones for the Temple and keep G-d's law. It was so special
that the stone was found as it is and we immediately felt that the
Hand of G-d as in these special circumstances. The stone is currently
located in the middle of a traffic circle which was especially built
by the Municipality of Jerusalem for this stone. The circle is not far
from the Damascus Gate of the Old City, near the third wall of the
Second temple era, near to the special monument for the soldiers who
died for the liberation of Jerusalem in the Six-Day War and near to
the American Consulate.

The cornerstone will be transported on a big truck painted with
Israeli flags and the Star of David and the stone will be covered with
a Tallith (prayer shawl). The stone will be carried in a special
ceremony. Levites will play from the Psalms of Ascent and a high
priest will anoint the stone. He will be dressed in white priestly
garments recreated in Jerusalem over the last years according to
Biblical Law. Temple vessels which have been recreated in Jerusalem
exactly according to the Torah will be carried by the members of the
Movement who will march with the stone and shofars will be blown along
the way. The stone will be taken to the City of David and in the place
where King David anointed and blessed the ark of the Covenant, we
shall say special blessings and prayers and read the prayers of King
David and the special prayers when he dedicated the First Temple. It
will be a very special and exciting moment. The stone will then be
taken to the Pool of Shiloah where a special ceremony of Nisuch
HaMaiim will be performed. This ceremony is a renewal of the ceremony
which was performed in the First and Second Temple eras during the
feast of Sukkoth when the high priest and all the other priests and
the pilgrims who had come to celebrate the feast at the Temple marched
to the Pool of Shiloh in a very exciting ceremony with the Levites
playing music to draw the holy water of the Shiloah with special
blessings and prayers and then carry the water back to the temple
where it was poured out on the altar. The High priest prayed to the
G-d of Israel for a blessed year with lots of rain. In the Mishna it
is written that those who did not experience this exciting ceremony
never saw a real special celebration with such joy and thankfulness to
G-d. At Sukkoth we shall perform the same ceremony at the Pool of
Shiloah. We want to renew everything which belongs to the Temple and
Biblical tradition. The water that we draw from the Pool will be
poured on the cornerstone with special blessings and prayers and, at
the same time, we shall anoint it. When the Third Temple is built this
water will again be poured on the altar. We know that this will be
soon.

>From the City of David, we shall march with the stone to the Temple
Mount. The truck with the stone will circle the walls of the Temple
Mount seven times exactly as Joshua ben Nun did at Jericho with
shofars being blown. With the cornerstone there will be a very old
Torah Scroll. The cornerstone will stand for a while before the
Eastern Gate of the Temple Mount (the Golden Gate) for a special
prayer that the gate will soon be opened and Mashiach ben David will
enter through it to the Temple.

We pray and believe and do everything that we can that this time the
gates of the Temple Mount will be open to the cornerstone this time
and that it will be layed on the same location of the cornerstones of
the First and Second Temples which were built by King Solomon and
Zerubbabel. We trust in the G-d of Israel. We know that we are living
in a special exciting time of the redemption of the people an the land
of Israel, the Temple Mount and Jerusalem. We feel and live the
special significance of this time. The members of the Temple Mount and
Land of Israel Faithful Movement dedicated themselves to fulfill the
wish of the G- d of Israel and the prophecies of the prophets of
Israel for the end-times. We are doing and shall continue to do
everything that the Third Temple will soon be built in our lifetime
for the honor of the G-d of Israel and to fulfill His prophetic
wishes. For this goal we have completely dedicated our lives, we left
everything and we are acting full-time for this godly prophetic
purpose. We shall do everything to save the Temple Mount from the
terrible abomination which is done today by foreigners and enemies and
to purify the Temple Mount for the G-d of Israel and the universe
exactly as our forefathers did when they liberated the Temple Mount
from foreign occupation and abomination. We shall do everything to
open the Eastern Gate for Mashiach ben David and he will be the king
of Israel and of all the world. We want to see the fulfillment of the
godly prophesy of Isaiah that many nations will come up to the House
of G-d in Jerusalem to give Him glory and to thank Him and to learn
His Laws and ways and to give Him thanks that He gave them the
privilege to worship Him.

We trust in G-d that this godly end-time vision will soon be a reality
in our lifetime and our activities will be accomplished. We feel the
presence of G-d in our activities and He is with us. It is such a
privilege to serve Him in these exciting times, to be a part of His
army and his prophetic end-time plans and to live in such a
generation. A lot of thanks to the G-d of Israel.

Everyone who is in Jerusalem at this time is invited to come and take
part in this event. You can meet us at the Western Wall Plaza near to
the western gate of the Temple Mount (Mugrabi Gate) at 9:30 AM.

Thu Sep 10 , 1998 -- Defense Minister Yitzchak Mordechai yesterday
reiterated that the Kotel (Western Wall), the Maarat HaMachpelah (Cave
of the Patriarchs) and Kever Rachel (Rachel's Tomb) will remain in
Israel's hands for eternity. The defense minister was responding to an
appeal made by the dean of the Nechalim Yeshiva, former Moledet MK
Rabbi Yosef Bagad. Bagad called upon the government to do whatever
necessary never to return the holy site of Rachel's Tomb and the Cave
of the Patriarchs.

CHIEF OF STAFF SEES ARMED CONFLICT IN 1999
      Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Sha'ul Mofaz told a closed group of top
Central Command officers last week that he sees the Command's chief
mission as preparing for the armed conflict that he feels is likely to
break out in 1999. Mofaz told the officers that they should prepare
for various eventualities, as "the uncertainty surrounding the
diplomatic process is an important factor." He said that lines of
communication with the PA must remain open, and added that the
officers should "exhibit understanding for the needs of the Jewish
residents of Yesha, who are living under difficult circumstances,"
adding that these must be within the framework of the law. (Arutz 7,
September 6, 1998)

PALESTINIAN YOUTH PREPARE FOR SHOWDOWN
     In anticipation of a showdown with Israel after a Palestinian
state is unilaterally declared in May 1999, 135 young Palestinians
swore to defend Gaza. The 11 to 20 year-olds, from the Fatah youth
organization, have been training for three months on the use of
automatic weapons and hand-to-hand combat. The Fatah organization is
that of Yasser Arafat, and instead of teaching these youth the ways of
peace, they are taught armed conflict. Moshe Fogel, director of the
Government Press Office, said the arming and training of more
Palestinians, however young, is a violation of the peace process
because the Palestinian security forces are already much larger than
the Oslo Accords permit. (AP, Jerusalem Post, September 7, 1998)

     PRAYER FOCUS: Pray that Israel's leaders may exercise diplomatic,
military and spiritual wisdom as they deal with their enemies.

     SCRIPTURE: "But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites
and the men of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem's walls had
gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry.
They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and
stir up trouble against it. But we prayed to our God and posted a
guard day and night to meet this threat" (Nehemiah 4:7-9).

HOW THE PA TRIES NOT TO RECOGNIZE ISRAEL
     The Palestinian Media Watch recently published an in-depth study
of how the Palestinian Authority relates to the State of Israel.
Many samples of press reports are quoted in the study, showing the
following points: * the establishment of the State of Israel is
presented as the theft of Palestine; * the non-recognition of Israeli
sovereignty even within 1948 boundaries; * anticipation and confidence
in the "elimination" of the State of Israel; * symbols and public
activities expressing lack of recognition of the State of Israel.

Some sample Palestinian media quotes:

* Question by Al-Hayat al-Jadida reporter: "What shall we say to he
who still holds the keys to his house in Safed, Acre, Jaffa and
Haifa?" Arafat's advisor Abdallah Al-Hourani: "I say to his that he
should bequeath them to his sons or grandchildren because our day of
return will come - either us, our sons or grandchildren."

* "Palestine and all its cities and villages is our property and we
are hers." (Summer camp commander, Al-Hayat al-Jadida, July 12,
1998).

* "...our dream, which is expressed temporarily in the establishment
of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and
then the continuation of the political plan. Presently, we cannot
realize the plan of the right of return to return to Haifa, Jaffa,
Acre, Safed in ten or fifty years. Under the present balance of power
no one can speak about returning to the destroyed villages in Askelon
or Jaffa, for example. The right of return stays with us and when the
balance of power changes we will be able to return." [A member of the
Legislative Council and Chairman of the Committee for the Protection
of Refugee's Rights, Husam Hadar] (Palestinian Television, July, 17,
1998)

PMW director Itamar Marcus, who edited the report, writes: In speeches
at the United Nations and in official statements, the terms "the
Zionist Entity", "the Zionist Enemy" or "the Tel Aviv Government" were
used as a substitute for mentioning Israel by name. Today these terms
are all in use in the Palestinian media, along with the name Israel
that appears often in quotation marks - "Israel". For instance:
"...with the passage of 50 years since the creation in Palestine of
the land plundering entity. (Al-Hayat al-Jadida, July 30, 1998)" In
addition, the Palestinian Authority defines the cities of Israel as
Palestinian cities. For example:
 "...In every place in Palestine: Tiberias, Ramla, Sebastia, Nablus,
 Lod,
Jaffa and Beit Guvrin. (Al-Hayat al-Jadida, July 6, 1998)" (Arutz 7,
September 4, 1998)

     PRAYER FOCUS: Pray that God would reveal Himself as the One who
has given the land of Israel to the Jewish people for an everlasting
possession and inheritance, with blessing to all who bless God's
covenant.
     
     SCRIPTURE: "The Lord said to Moses, 'Speak to the Israelites and
say to them: ...Take possession of the land and settle in it, for I
have given you the land to possess'" (Numbers 33:50-51, 53)

TO PRAY ON THE TEMPLE MOUNT IS NOT A CRIME
     Judges in a Jerusalem court, over the past week, found two Chai
Vekayam members innocent of charges related to their desire to pray on
the Temple Mount, controlled by Moslems. Chai Vekayam is an
organization dedicated to ensuring Jewish prayer rights on the Mount,
and its members have often been arrested for their attempts to pray
there. In one case this week, the judge ruled that the police used
unnecessary force against a would-be worshiper - Shmuel Sackett - and
consequently found Sackett innocent of attacking a policeman. The
judge noted that demanding to pray on the Temple Mount is not a crime.
The Chai Vekayam movement said that the struggle to pray on the holy
Jewish site will continue both in and out of the courtrooms. (ARUTZ-7,

     PRAYER FOCUS: Pray that all who desire to pray to the God of
     Israel at the place He chose for Himself may have the freedom to
do so.

    SCRIPTURE: "The Lord appeared to him at night and said: 'I
have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a
temple for sacrifices...I have chosen and consecrated this temple so
that My Name may be there forever. My eyes and My heart will always
be there'" (II Chronicles 7:12, 16).

9) THE "WEATHER MEMORY LAW"
     A Bar Ilan University physicist, Prof. Shlomo Havlin, and Prof.
Armin Bunde of the University of Giessen near Frankfurt, Germany,
have published their new research showing that weather may have a
memory. The researchers discovered a new global scientific law, which
indicates that weather "remembers" its previous behavior. For
instance, a given day of above- average temperatures may influence
heat levels even a number of years from now. The discovery of the
mathematical law paves the way for improvements in advanced models of
weather prediction. Havlin's research, which was published in the
Physical Review Letters of the American Institute of Physics, revealed
that the "weather memory law" - based on temperature statistics
collected over many decades - held true in each of the 14
meteorological stations monitored around the world. (Arutz 7,

On Friday, 11 September 1998, the United States House of
Representatives will vote on legislation that, if approved, will
trigger the immediate release of 445 pages of Independent Counsel
Kenneth Starr's report on his investigation of President Clinton. ABC
News is reporting that Starr's report contains at least 11 counts of
possible impeachable offenses

The 445 pages that will be released include a 25-page introduction, a
280-page narrative, and a 140-page explanation of Starr's grounds for
impeachment. If the House votes on Friday to release the report,
copies of the report will immediately be placed on the World Wide Web
at

My suggestion to you is to AVOID THESE WEB SITES AS IF YOUR LIFE
DEPENDED UPON IT! Everyone and their pet dog will try to access these
sites on Friday, and it is highly unlikely you will be able to connect
to ANY of these sites.

Instead, if you REALLY want to see the Starr Report, you should visit
some of the Net's news sites. The Washington Post's Web site reports
that the "[f]ull text of the Starr Report to Congress will be posted
Friday on washingtonpost.com." The Los Angeles Times has announced
that it intends to publish the full text of the Starr report at
http://www.latimes.com/scandal/. My guess is that EVERY major online
news site will follow suit.

In other words, if you want to download a copy of the Starr Report:

     1. Visit your local newspaper's Web site. Because the physical
        distance between you and your local newspaper's Web site is so
        short, you might be able to get the best download times from
        them. If your local newspaper does not have a copy of the
        Starr report, then

     2. Visit the Web site of your closest large-town newspaper.
        Again, the principle here is that you want to keep the
        physical distance between you and the site you are downloading
        from to a minimum. If your closest large-town newspaper does
        not have a copy of the Starr report, then

     3. Visit the Web site of a national newspaper (USA Today, The
        Washington Post, The New York Times, The Daily Telegraph of
        London, etc.) or network news organization (ABC News, BBC
        News, CNN, etc.). If you can't find a copy of the report
        after all that, then

     4. GIVE UP, because there is no way in HECK you are going to be
        able to access the "official" government sites I listed a few
        moments ago.

For those of you who are patient -- or who don't feel too comfortable
with the time it will take to download and print a 445 page file that
very well may be saved in Adobe PDF format -- I have heard in passing
(on ABC News, I think) that the Washington Post is planning on
printing the entire Starr report in its Saturday edition (I can't
confirm this, though). My guess is that other newspapers will follow
suit (heck, Sunday's New York Times might actually weigh more than a
Datsun). If you can't find the report online or in any newspaper, two
publishers have announced that they will have bound editions of the
Starr report in bookstores by Tuesday, September 15.

Oh, and if all of this is too much for you, you might enjoy Brock
Meeks' take on this. He has written an editorial for MSNBC entitled

In my reading today, I came across the following:

The Jerusalem Targum* on Exodus 12:42 "notes that there were 4
remarkable nights: those of creation, of the covenant with Abraham,
of the first Passover, and of the redemption of the world; and that
as Moses came out of the desert, so would the Messiah come out of
Rome." (The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, Alfred Edersheim)

Christianity is awaiting the Antichrist from within the ranks of a
revived Roman Empire and the Jews are looking for their Messiah to
come out of Rome.

(*Targum--When the Jews came back from the captivity they spoke
Aramean, "the common people were ignorant of pure Hebrew" which was
"the language of students and of the Synagogue." Because of this,
there was an interpreter that translated the Scriptures that were
read in the publc services and what the Rabbis said from Hebrew to
the common language. These translations/paraphrases are the origin
of the Targum and it should be kept in mind, of course, that the
views of the particular translators crept in, but overall they
conveyed the general stance of the material according to Jewish
thought around the 3rd-4th century.)
